Thanks for showing this! I was able to take my back hatch apart, take out my handle, and found that all I had to do was lubricate the return sprint on the handle itself (it had just been gummed up with age). Door panel popped back together just fine and it the latch functions as good as ever!
Hey bro, I think you just saved me a stack of cash. I have been without the use of my 2004 SF trunk for a few years and this is the first vid to show exactly what it can be. Thank you!
Im going to try this on my 04 sta fe.Mine was rear ended and dented at the rear hatch slightly.Hatch door wont open anymore. Thanks for this video.Thumbs up here.
Thanks so much for this. Someone is selling an 05 GLS/LX extremely cheap because of this problem. Thanks to finding your vid I can fix it myself for free after purchasing. Please keep up these types of vids for us DIY lovers.
I really appreciate this video bro. I had my Santa Fe since February and been trying to figure out how to open my trunk and now I got it. Thank you 1000%
Hey dude don't know who you are and so I want to say your video is still helping through the toughest of times, especially after the planned dimick, wrong spelling on purpose, keep making them dude my hat is off to you!!!
Thank you for the video! I have a 2009 Santa Fe and I converted it into a mini camper and my problem is that ounce Inside I had to exit from the side door witch is not easy even with the back seat down. I was looking for a way to put an handle Inside the car for an easier exit from the hatch door! Thanks to you now I have visualised the door mecanism and I will therefore be able to think of a way to solve that problem. Take care!
Luckily you don’t have to take the whole back panel off if all you need is the hatch to open, just that first access door! True the first vertical control rod is the latch for the glass, but about an inch to the passenger side of the rod’s base is the lever that releases the trunk hatch. I was able to just reach a hand in and boom.
my son also has his back shock absorbers floating thru the holes in the inside.. thought they needed to b welded into place??? but a welder said he thinks he just needs to replace the shocks???
I have that very problem of handle is in and feels not connected. I did not think the panel would come off while the lift gate was closed. Hoping this will work for a 2009 santa fe.there is no access hatch.
@@NoneMechanic101 I finally got to it. Winter here when I made the comment. My reply, I was waiting for a warmer day to look at the tailgate, Not using the SUV I forgot about it. Finally got at it. First I toggled the lock switch a few times. Tried the tailgate handle and it worked fine. I bet a warm day melted snow or ice that dripped down the the door and froze the release. Thank you for the video. Gave me confidence to look.
My 06 is in storages S i can no longer have it on the street. Uk laws for unused cars. Due to the pandemic it wouldn't sell. The battery is dead so central locking is dead. I never had a key for the boot. Any ideas. It just made it into the unit and a skinnier person than me got it in
Thank you for showing me how to do this. I needed to change my brake lights but i couldn't open the trunk. You are a life saver
