- We are back on Ruby's front fender and today we are going to test out the shop made tool I made to pull dents out in a controlled fashion using the Harbor Freight Stud Gun Welder and the new tool.
If you have a project you would like to showcase at the end of one of my videos just email me a few pics and a short description to: foothillpaintandfabrication@gmail.com
GM A Body. Fender Repair. Stud gun welder. dent puller. crack repair.
That was a great tool you made Mark! I'm going to have to come up with my own to help with the bed side panels and the tailgate. Thanks for your time.
Thanks Doug, Hope you aren't floating away down there.
The tailgate and bed sides can be challenging so get some experience on other dents and waviness before you tackle those.

Nice tool Mark. learn a lot from your videos. Thank you for your time.
Thanks, didn't take much time to make and was well worth it in the end.

I like this bridge tool idea, going to have to try this out
Thanks Chris, it worked out well.
Nice! I’ve always argued that we can learn from the PDR guys and adopt their methods to bodywork. This is the first time I have seen someone attempt it. You might want to swap out the wing nut with a regular nut with two arms welded to it on an angle, just to be able to turn it easier.
Those PDR guys make it look easy and it is pretty remarkable what they can do. Ruby is made of old school 19 gauge which is way stronger than the 20 to 22 gauge PDR guys deal with. There is a lot to be said from their techniques. I watch their videos every once in a while when they are figuring out the anatomy of the dent they are about to remove. Very helpful.

Very nice job on the tool! I'm going to have to fab one of those up for the roof of my '62 C10 where my grandpa managed to get a dent in it (on a body line of course). Hoping if I make it long enough I may be able to put the pressure on the outside edges of the roof and not make things worse. Great videos!
Thanks Matt, It sucks when body lines are involved for sure. I am sure you will Macgyver something to work.

Nice video Mark! Really enjoy your analysis of each problem area. It’ll help me when I start figuring out the multiple dents on the ‘49.
Definitely need to make that tool. I’ve got several areas that I can’t access from the back side.
Thanks Robert, No access or limited access is one of the hardest things to deal with in dent removal. What is your schedule to get started on the dents?
Mark
The frame is done. I’m building brake lines now and awaiting back ordered front drums. Then I’ll have a roller and can add the engine and transmission (already rebuilt). That’ll allow me to roll that assembly into the real garage with my wife’s car. Then I’ll have a ton of room for the body work. I’d like to dip the body this summer when there’s no rain up here. Making progress. I’ll email some photos when the shop is cleaner!!
@@robertmazzei2412 Sounds like you will be busy this Spring and Summer for sure. Remember I had a 13 week lead time on Ruby to get her dipped so call way in advance.
I will keep a lookout for the pics.
Cool little tool might to make one and one a little longer but i think its better than the glue on ones like that
Those are pretty light weight since they are designed for modern sheet metal which is way thinner than our cars. It worked well and I am glad I took the time to make it.
