  • I traveled by train to the 8th Century Polish Town that survived WWII. Torun is located in North West Poland and it's a site to behold. Both a beautiful and mysterious city, it's the place where famed astronomer Nicolas Copernicus was born. Torun is located on the banks of the Vistula river. I met up with a subscriber here and we walked the streets of the old town together. We stopped for lunch and admired the beauty of this centuries old city.

    I just love the way you describe the beauty of Poland.
    It truly is a wonderful country, I have lived in Poland for three years, my wife is Polish we met in England, decided to escape the rat race and move to Poland, I have to say it was the best decision we have made. I love the country it's history, it's churches, it's people and it's culture.
    The language is a challenge but I'm getting there. Toruń is not far from bydgoszcz I recommend you go there, it's beautifully sophisticated, I love it when we visit.
    Now we are retired we have travelled the length of Poland, from the beautiful beaches in the north to my favourite in the south, zakopane and surrounding mountain regions, outstanding.

    I have lived in almost 20 villages, towns and cities arcoss Poland and Germany (Cracow, Wrocław, Halle, Cologne and many others). In 2015 I left them all to settle down in Toruń. In summer it is kind of crowded and lively. There is much more to the Old Town than meets the eye and Toruń is much more than its Old Town. I needed 20 years to discover all its stunning places and secrets. Have fun and come back!

      That's so cool that you've lived in all of those different places and finally chose Torun. I'm sure I'll be back one day, it's an amazing city.

    Królewiec is a Polish name for Kaliningrad (Russia). The plaques you saw are probably names of TWIN CITIES from other countries.

    Whenever sb is trying to prove the Middle Ages were all bad, I just want to come back to the beautiful Spiritual and Scientific Torun and cities like that, oh yes some people prefer concrete beauty.... just for the money.
    M. Kopernik was not only a great scientists he also did command some Polish troops and managed to create sophisticated defence lines around cities.

    • @TravelAddictGuy
      @TravelAddictGuy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Obviously, some great things did come from that time. Copernicus was a genius and the founder of modern astronomy. He also contributed much to Poland, as you've mentioned. 🇵🇱🔭

    You said Toruń correctly the first time, exept the accent is on the first sylable: TOruń, not ToRUŃ. ń sounds like ny in the English word caNYon and like ni in the Polish word "nie".
