Walking along Levante Beach earlier today and couldn't resist filming the Peamen in action. One of their "audience", didn't like the idea of being filmed.
Always need to beware of this scam, as it also has a few pickpockets in the “audience”.

It always amazes me that local people think that because you are on holiday that you left your brain at home.

Yes, anyone interacting with this kind of street scammer is their own fault for doing so. Just ignore them if they try to approach you, even if they are persistant.

Always try to capture this kind of scam, as you say to raise the awareness for the public.
I can’t believe there are mugs out there who stand for this it’s been going on for many years all over the world in various forms and yet people still fall for it
Used to be rife in Tenerife. Romanians. Havn't seen them in years though. They were nasty bastids too. Maybe moved on along with the TimeShare touts. Funny how the guys playing and observing the game suddenly became aggressors.
My husband now falls for every scam. He had a severe head injury 4 years ago and since then he has become an easy mark for pick pockets and con artists. It effects our whole family. I try to protect my husband.
I would have kicked it over and done a runner!

It’s been going on for years, can’t believe anyone falls for this scam.
Best thing to do is very loudly act like a victim. "Stop! Don't try to stab me! Don't attack me! Look out everybody, we have a violent criminal here!"

It's sad because that game really used to be something important and fun in Spain, but corruption and crisis came, and it ended up beeing this way

The local police know who all these rats are but do nothing about it because their attitude is " it's only tourists who are being ripped off.
I'm sure the cops are getting back handers to turn a blind eye to it, it's been going on for years & yet they still have no fear of being caught 😳
You are both wrong here.... The police are constantly chasing these guys, but it's very dificult to prosecute these crimes,as they have to actually catch them with a victims money or no crime has been comited, and if they do get caught the amount is 50€ and its classed as a petty crime and at best get off with a caution and are back at it the next day. Its a difficult situation for everybody, and we all want these poeple gone but it's almost imposible, they are all Spanish gypsies, and the locals hate them aswell

I've never heard of any of them ever being fined.
The police can only charge them if they are found to have over a certain amount of money on them , but they dish it out between all the team members throughout the day to prevent that happening.
The police cannot collect any money, so they really are never fined. If by "fine" you mean "request a personal contribution" in cash to the police force, that might be true.
I’d say that’s assault. Did you report it to the police and was any action taken?
Was in benidorm last week, booted their table all across the promenade each day for six days and told them to go get a job. They don't like me. Try it it's therapeutic!!!

You were very lucky? We saw some very fit guys get done over by this group and the police got involved and nearly arrested the guys and not the SCUM BAGS doing the 3 card monte/pee scam

This con has been around for hundreds of years. But there are still new people coming along who are taken in by it.

This scam is old and almost obvious, yet people still fall for it, just like politics and statism.

the guy is scamming actually people who are trying to guess where is the stone( or whatever) and the woman who is from his team or I woud better say his gang) is impeding the persоn who was filming, as it might be an evidence of the scam,of the crime.
When they have a gang filtered about, you know they are on some good money!

Kinda funny how she went in from the angle while seconds before she was engaged in the game, plus calls you “maricón” in a flowing accent, 😂. just a note.. its rarely just 1 person, they operate in groups of 3/4. so what looks like a bystander is an actually an accomplice.
Don't forget that they usually have a few 'Spotters' around the area.
That's the treatment you get from the pea man gang. Usually four people with one of playing and winning while the others keep cameras away and watching for the police.
Me and the wife usually go in spring or autumn it's less crowded and the weather pretty good. Some of rowdy bar are not open until it gets near summer. There still plenty to see and do a lot of people who are like us and retired but you can still have fun and it's still cheap.
We normally go in January for a couple of weeks. As you said usually a bit quieter ,but still plenty to see.

This scam is ANCIENT! I have no sympathy for anyone daft enough to fall for it.
She was in on the scam, look at her ducking around to the side when she see's the camera.
As are all the others gathered around the box. They want to get a larger crowd so as to make it look legitimate. The gangs also usually have pickpockets in their teams, always walk away and don't get involved.
Meanwhile the Police are in the Station relaxing, you are only the public so do not matter.

How anyone can fall for this is beyond me it's obvious it's a scam, I have been to benidorm on holiday and when I get approached by scam artists I just ignore them and keep walking .

Always wary, I got ripped off at a fairground as a kid. The Carny counted out my change in his hand, unbeknown, he had cupped a coin or two in his hand as he tipped the coins out into my hand.

Wen I was there last time Nov 2019 they were near other market entrance because it's shut Sundays and we were having food outside the bar and they stuck the cardboard round corner and I said if I didn't need walking sticks I'd go and set fire 2 it lol
