Catch Fish at Seaford: FRANKIES REVISITED

  • My first video filmed after lockdown restrictions were eased (13.05.20), and it is one of a series on shore fishing at Seaford, East Sussex (UK).
This video covers my attempt to catch plaice at the Seaford Beach mark of Frankies. The successful rigs used to catch them are shown, with methods adapted to the unexpected conditions of a strong tidal pull on a neap tide. Plenty of small plaice and dabs were caught; although, frustratingly, only one bite was seen!
Other videos in this series deal with spring / summer tactics and rigs in some detail, focusing on other individual marks in Seaford - click on the following link:

I like your style of video. No music, to the point, informative and a really peaceful feel to them. Keep up the good work.

I appreciate your comment @Mister Very Normal. No point to music, unless you need to cover up wind noise! What's better than the sound of crashing waves and shingle being dragged by the backwash?

Excellent footage Rod, Seaford was a favourite place for me in my competition days and pleasure fishing 70s & 80s I fished for Shoreham Angling Club and Rockhoppers Winter League, Hand in Hand was the Seaford Club in its day and the Buckle Pub in full swing - also I enjoyed the East Arm more than the West for general fishing. I live in Australia now but I must say your video footage is excellent well put together informative and constructive. 👍🏽 Sole fishing was one of my favs for the table 😃 the more stinkier the lug was the BEST results !!! even dried discarded lug I’ve used to great results, small lug dug at Worthing in its day was so suitable for sole sessions and mainly after dark, some beauties 3LB and over, monsters !!! With the warmer Mediterranean climate the Plaice fishing has increased in all areas and with the decline of the muddy flounder - look forward to your next fishing adventures - you are Head & Shoulders compared with other sites Good Man, “Top Banana” 😃 for the love of sea angling especially beach fishing.

Many thanks for your kind words, comments and contribution Stephen. I also have fond memories of Seaford of old, holidaying there in the 60s / 70s and fishing with my father. Personally I catch more soles on small ragworm. Sticky black lug is great for the dabs; however on this occasion they preferred fresh blow lug.

seaford is where i fish sometimes on the beach or out on kayak, always enjoy your vids. cant believe how few anglers were there, thought it would of been packed .

Yes, very few there to begin with Kris, but filled up later. It got crowded at the western end, but I was fishing towards the east and, to some degree, cameras used make it look like others were further away than they actually were! Many thanks for watching and commenting.

A great session and another great video. You make it look so easy and so inviting. I really must try to get down to the south coast sometime but am always a bit hesitant about trying new venues (well new to me at least) for several reasons not least of which is the fact that I'm not keen on crowds of people and the prospect of snagging someone fishing "next" to me! I'm glad you're back out and look forward to regular offerings. Stay safe. Cheers and tight lines. Ken

Always possible to find somewhere reasonably quiet on the south coast Ken. If there are too many fishing where I intend to go, I just drive on to another venue - I find that's one way to get to know new marks - I force myself to fish somewhere I haven't fished before. Thanks for watching and your kind words again Ken.

hi again wen you fish clip down rigs do they stay clipped down sorry for stupid question colin

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The hooks are kept in place by cascade swivels until the rig hits the water and hopefully are released. Water pressure on the imp clip used to attach the lead or the lead itself (if a Breakaway type) releases everything. Sometimes that doesn't happen though!

Hey man, what is the best time to start fishing in pevensy and best location for shore fishing.
    Love the vids

I chose the wrong day last week! Gave up and went to look over other venues, after bringing in spider crab, after spider crab and having 6 hooks cut off, despite constantly moving / dragging the bait. Fished the western end the previous week (15.05.20) and had a good session (hoping video will be uploaded on Thursday) - so its pot luck at the moment!
To be honest, I don't fish Pevensey Bay that much, and as for marks and species, you can't go wrong checking out the Anglers Den Sussex website and perhaps ringing them for 'up to the minute' information on where's fishing well.
Thanks for watching and commenting Oliver.

Okay thank you very much. I’m going on Wednesday morning so will hopefully catch some bass or more. Where is your favourite location to fish if u don’t mind me asking

I had 4 bass at White Horses amongst the other fish - two over 2lb and sizeable, but only one got filmed properly for next vid! Have caught them off side roads directly seawards of Anglers Den. Best of luck Oliver.
