I own the Red version of this bass. I have to say it’s a monster. The ebony board gives that clarity in the upper mids (in my ears) almost a sparkle.
String spacing is a little different to a standard Pbass or Jazz in my fingers. I have been using the bass for recording in my metal band and man…. It is absolutely brilliant. Plugged into a Ashdown ABM 600 and 4x10 and the thing is a monster. Highly recommend.
That and the brass nut! I don’t believe he mentioned that.
Dan, even if you didn’t mention brass nut and didn’t disclose the cavity to let us watch the mid capacitor, you won me on this bass!
I already own a Rebop dlx 5 (with factory tone pump and ceramic/steel emgs) and it’s still my go-to bass
I presented myself this very same Tiger Eye 5er for my next 50th bd and I can testifie the fact that, if the Rebop stays probably louder (and meanier) this neck thru jewel is far more versatile (and silent) for a vastity of gigs (jazz/fusion/sessions/pop/soul/praise n’worship)

I just don't hear any character in Spectors...
For real? They have a very unique and quite strong character, their sound is unique, nothing sound like them and specially this one have a very unique voice due to the electronic combo

I disagree however I would like to hear this with a SNC Haz clone.
what don't you like about the preamp?

I guess to each their own. I was playing a schecter diamond elite (my one and only bass) and it felt lifeless in comparison. I'll look into other preamps though to see the difference.
