I recently got the NS CR 5 , its a great bass. I want to get the fretless version someday., Love your playing, didn't get to you with Porcupine Tree, but hope to you perform somedays. Thanks for your sharing your bass skills and your collection!
My favourite bass is an ibanez fanned fret. The 1st model they had. It is not the best bass. But it is a good modding bass. At the end nothing will stay the same, I guess. I also like squier basses. They are cheap as ... . And with used stuff very cheap to mod. I had a Dingwall but I sold it. The sounds of the After-Burner was great. But I am not so big like you. The 37 inches were a pain in the astronaut. I asked Sheldon of Dingwall to change the shape of the body but he said it is okay like it is. Perhaps I am going to build a custom fanned fret bass. But I am going to avoid Dingwall for my life. You should try a Wal-Bass. It could support your playing styles. And I like Status-Basses. They are solid and deliver. Very easy to find good sounds on a Status.
Nate, you're a freaking beast. I'm a drummer and love watching your videos. I discovred your work after seeing you live with Porcupine Tree on their latest tour. Blown away by your talent, dude. Keep on rocking and hope to see you live again!
What an amazing collection of both conventional and exotic basses and all the ranges in-between. Also, I really appreciate how you didn't just do a walkthrough of your collection the way so many other YT videos do, where you just point at or pick up an instrument and show it to to camera and talk very briefly about it. You took the time to really introduce each and talk about why you like it and how you use it, and then demonstrate with actual music--many of which you composed yourself. This is a whole different level of commitment and effort and shows not only your talent and skill and experience as a bass player, but also your character as a person.
All i've got to say is, Nate. You are such an inspiration for me as a beginner and it's been a complete joy following your videos and over all your progress in here YT and musical career. I really can't adress how important you are for me, the person who make said "oh wait, now i want to play bass" for the other people exist charles, davie, ichika and whoever you want to name (also incredible bassist) but for me, you are special and over all my favorite.
@@NateNavarro same! I hope you get the inmense recognition you deserve and aswell to see more quality content like you always provide! It also would be very interesting to learn more about you, your progress in the both bass and music ambit and other things!
Such inspiring playing! While I think you could make a rubber band stretched over a tin can sound great, your effort to show each bass' strengths was/is a delight to witness!
Dude I’ve been following you since the Dubstep Pin Panelle and source audio hot hand demo days and you never disappoint with your creativity and intelligence.
As the owner of a Spector 4 string, I like that you included this humble guitar in your video! It's my go-to bass, but I covet your P-bass and especially the Dingwall!
This is a sick collection but I’m noticing a distinct lack of Yamaha basses. You gotta get your hands on one of the older BB’s. They have some of the most incredible necks I’ve ever felt and they have a super unique tone that fits pretty much any genre.
Nate you are undoubtedly one of the most talented and musical bassists I have ever heard in my life. Although I only play Christian music on stage, I do play mostly secular music at home and I have learned a lot from your TH-cam lessons online.
As far as aesthetics I really liked the family joy bass that looked really nice and I could tell it was special to you. As far as sound I thought the cort modern GB sounded nice and looked rad too.
My Kiesel Zeus is #1 as well. It is the most stable instrument I have ever had the pleasure of owning and it sounds humongous. Killer collection and nice editing on the video!
Love that littl Mayones ahaha ...for sure your passion comes out ...i'm self taught and i respect how deep u went with studying n stuff ... your facial expressions crack me up u really get in the zone !!!😂😂😂😂
Cool collection, Nate 😎🤘🏻🎸 I personally liked the jazz basses, the Spector basses, the sterling stingray, the peavey cirrus, and the Jackson spectra. I wish peavey would still make basses. I use to own a peavey millennium bass and it sounded great. It’s got a percussive punchy tone and it sounds killer with distortion. I also thought about getting a Jackson bass myself. I do dig the spectra bass. I tried one out years ago and I thought it sounded awesome. Other than that, that’s quite a collection you got.
At 9 yrs old and small I started on full scale and struggled but was all the better for it. Aria pro 2 had it 30 yrs. Have a sg now and love the humbuckers. Active pickups and more than 4 strings don't waste your time.

My favorites sound-wise were the white Spector NS2A, the Cort A5 Beyond, and the PRS SE Kingfisher. I think I need to add one of those Corts to my list of stuff to buy. Amazing sounding and looking instrument
What a massive bass collection! It was fun to watch you play them all. That Ritter R8 is super sweet - love how it’s personalized. Also, I have to mention the way you hit the strings with the heel of your palm and did a slide down to the end the song at 13:54 - so cool.
What a collection, and presented objectively. I've seen some of these from other players and it's a rush through in 10 minutes, this was great to watch in comparison. Thanks
Wow! Thanks! This was very informative. I got my first bass 6 years ago but started getting increasingly more and more into bass starting 2 years ago. I wonder, how did you get the crispy, guitar-like tone for the Kiesel Zeus 5? Would you say it was solely because of the pedal you displayed? Also, you are a very versatile, dynamic player! Amazing! Also, what are your thoughts on 6 string basses? I believe I only saw 1 in your collection. Or maybe I was hallucinating and did not see any. Also, I noticed most modern bass players mainly use active basses or passive/active basses. Is that for the 3 band eq? Or more so you can make quick tone changes during a live performance? Looking forward to hearing back!
Hi Nate would you mind sharing the things that you don't like abt the Bite bass? I'm thinking abt getting one but coudln'e get much user experience online, thanks!
I had been so set on a Dingwall until I saw August Burns Red live and heard the Kiesel Zeus and Thanos basses. So crisp and amazing sound. The Overload is killer too. There are many basses here I’d never heard of before, and they all sound great.
An amazing collection, for sure. I never realized when I bought your book (4-String Etudes) just how many basses you have collected over the years. Your playing ability in all styles is masterful. You wouldn't by chance have a Tab for the piece you played when demoing the Fender American Vintage II? Although your talent with 4, 5 or 10 strings never ceases to amaze, but that piece is more the style I try to play. Thank you for another outstanding video.
That Lignum Sub-Octave Bass has some killer Harmonics! Sh*t. ALL OF YOUR BASSES sounds KILLER. To make a long Qualitative Analysis short, you kick ass. That's basically it. If I forgot anything, I'll attach it in a PDF... Yeah. That's the skinny of it. PHAT BASS Tones, Playing, Technique, Examples/Explanations, all that stuff...
Hey Nate. I’ve heard from a couple long time folks now that you used to play at the Orchard church in Temecula. I am currently the bass lead at the Orchard and I think you’d be amazed how much the church has grown. Nate your collection is pretty awesome. The Overload's are pretty awesome and have been seeing them more and more. I still need to get my hands on a early 2000's PRS and a Les Paul Std Bass from 2004-2006 as I in my unfortunate needs at the time had to part way's with the ones I had. They were Gunner Nelsons and I really didn't want to get rid of them but you know life happens. Actually, this what I call a honnest, not "pushing" add :)... usually its cutting the vid/text at every 10% with "YOU ARE to BUY this----and if you say you cant afford, stop eating and/or your car payments and or rent payments---- or, we have credit which at the end means you will have paid this artefact 5 times"!!!
My favorite, strangely enough, is that weird looking MIM Fender. Great tone. Different. But still warm. Love both of the Spector 4’s. Would love to hear that newer one (Bartolini P/J) just played clean. Sorry, the Sterling will never be a match to any EB StingRay. Only tonewise. That (particular) last Cort 5 you played (Bartolini MK-1’s and slight mid boost) would have had the very, very best fretless sound out of all your fretless basses!! Perhaps worth the transformation...? Everybody has to love that NS upright. I have had one too for over ten years. Great/ practical to travel with and just superb onstage as an extra instrument using the tripod stand. Very easy to amplify too with the right preamp (I use Basswitch DI/EQ to switch easily between standard basses and the high impedance NS). Tonally, the Kiesels, Strandberg, Ibanez and mostly the PRS didn’t do it for me. Too hollow sounding. Really love your playing, especially with a pick and fingerstyle. 🖖
Amazing musicianship! Basses and more basses!!! But what impressed me most is your open mind, a 90 $ bass can still sound good around the more expensive ones.
