    I currently own and have owned some expensive 22 rifles. I recently bought a Golden Boy and I can tell you that it's a hoot to shoot. I absolutely love it. If you enjoy shooting 22's, then get yourself a pretty Henry. They are simply stunning and exude quality.

    Hey enjoyed watching, I have the H001 classic .22 and the Henry Big Boy .357. I'm trying to buy a Henry .30-30 either the steel version or the X model and the Long Ranger would be nice too in .308 or 6.5 CM. They've been impossible to find though.

      I have the 22 Frontier, .410 19", and the 30-30 Wildlife. The 30-30 is a beautiful rifle. You will be proud to have it and enjoy shooting it. In retrospect, I wish I had bought the 22WMR Frontier seeing how my 10/22 fills the 22LR slot.

    • @sturisa
      @sturisa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blchamblisscscp8476 I also have the Ruger 10/22 but it’s a take down version and I really like it The Henry Lever 22 is great because it’ll cycle and fire everything, long rifles, longs if you can find them and shorts even quiet rounds.
      I don’t think you could do that with a semi automatic rifle.

    • @blchamblisscscp8476
      @blchamblisscscp8476 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sturisa True. The shorts and longs don't use enough powder to force the bolt back and cycle a new round into the chamber. Like you said, my Henry fires anything. The 10/22 (mine is the black carbine with scope) is picky with its ammo. It likes CCI mini mags and "Stangers" but Remington and Aguila jam and stovepipe. Very frustrating. Takes the fun out if it. The takedown looks so cool though, especially with a stainless barrell. Good purchase you got there.

    • @Critical-Defense
      @Critical-Defense ปีที่แล้ว

      Take your takedown to a new level with the Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock and Magpul optic mount. The Backpacker stock attaches to itself when broken down and the optic mount moves the optic to the barrel so no more loss of zero. I grabbed one of the threaded end caps for my barrel that came with a flash hider. Removing the flash hider and installing a more quiet muzzle device makes it a hoot.

    Nice video. What would be the best "plinking" LR round for the .22 rifle and what would be the best for "personal defense" if all you have is this classic rifle?

    • @anthonyaubuchon765
      @anthonyaubuchon765 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well my first Henry was the H001, the first rifle he showed, and it's a really good plinking rifle. As he said it's a tack driver. As far as personal defense I would certainly prefer a larger caliber but any of the ones he has shown will serve the purpose as long as you can place your shots. Since you asked about the self-defense aspect I'm going to assume that price is important. The H001 and the survival rifle are about the cheapest. My girlfriend bought me my first Henry for Christmas several years ago. Her parents would send us a gift card for Christmas every year and I would spend it on the Henry. It was the basic model and I put the large loop lever and the saddle ring receiver on it that I purchased on the Henry online store. They use to offer the Speedy loader and lf they don't offer it anymore you should definitely shop around online for one. Makes plinking way more enjoyable when you don't have to hand load.

    Good display of what they make, but it sure is hard to find any. A local big box just emailed me, back in stock, Henry 22 mag lever action. I went to get it, for $469 I was greatly disappointed. It was like a kids toy gun. Thin barrel, to me would be like the mini 14 early barrels. Too thin, get hot, warp. Stock was thin, not tapped for a scope mount. They have the 22lr at $369 and I might go that high but 469 for the same thing other than 22 mag - nope. My Dad bought me a model 61 pump back in 65. I'll just enjoy that and the 10/22.

    Does the octagonal barrel offer an advantage over the round barrel on a 22 magnum rifle? Is it much heavier?

    I bought a Henry Lever Action Carbine .22 (H001L), not at all impressed.
    The front sight that came on it was too short so with the rear sight lowered all the way down, it shot 4 inches high at 50 yards no matter the ammo used.
    Henry sent me a taller front sight which created the exact opposite problem. With the new taller front sight installed and the rear sight raised all the way up, it shoots four inches to low at 50 yards now.
    Guess I'll have to figure it out by myself.

    That’s all fine and dandy, but I can’t find any in stock at my stores, which include Sportsmans, Cabelas and Academy, plus a handful of smaller outlets. It’s frustrating and I love the Henry product but somebody is getting preferential treatment or manufacturing is still slow. I’m an old man and hope to add a few more before the Good Lord needs me. If I don’t leave some for my little grandsons, they’ll never find them in 15-20 years.
