My family is from Cody, NE. Pretty desolate area and no squirrels but prairie dogs are all over the place. My Henry H001 and H004 are prime candidates for dispatching. Love the iron sights for small game. Great video. God bless Henry Repeating Arms!
So did my dad. My dad told me that his grandmother who raised him always wanted him to shoot them through the neck as she liked to fry the squirrel’s brains (he made a face at this) and said that was because she was raised to eat them, but he didn’t care for them and didn’t hold me to that standard. Thank goodness. I was never as good a shot with a rifle as my dad. I was better with a handgun, but my dad was scary accurate with a rifle due to his 20/10 vision.
I absolutely love my Henry .22 lever actions. I had an H001 that I got around the mid 90's, now I have the H001M. Besides being my main small game rifles, they are fun plinkers. The magnum is a Henry I bought used, it was in need of some TLC and even though I did not buy that gun new, Henry's customer service has been absolutely top shelf in answering questions I had, and when I ordered parts, very fast service. I work at the LGS and frequently tell customers that Henry's customer service should be the model for other companies. Thanks Henry for being the great company you are.
Hey there buddy how are ya? I’m thinking fine, cuzz you’re out in the squirrel woods! As a boy I would hunt in a walnut orchard near my house. We couldn’t use 22lr cuzz a development was being build on the other side of the orchard across the creek. I had a nice Crossman 140 .22 cal. There where a million squirrels in that orchard you can see the walnut shell litter falling from the trees. I would hunt after school oh man that was fun times. Grandma made squirrel gravy over biscuits. Sometimes we’d have squirrel stew. Gosh that was a good time of life. Squirrel hunting is my favorite kinda hunting!! Thanks for sharing God bless you and yours.
I have the Henry Lever 22, but I had to buy the 22 pump, so now I need to get out into the woods. Thanks for getting me excited about squirrel hunting again.
I've always hunted squirrels with a scoped rifle I don't care for shot shells. But the Squirrel track gravy & biscuits . Are awesome. Thanks for the video.
Love the video. It would be cool if you could add a clean and cook piece at the end. I'm always interested in how everyone preps them and cooks them. Your barker call sounds better than mine. I think I have to get a different one. Thanks.
@@HenryUSA ....they're fox squirrels, reds are solid dark red, & last summer/fall, for the first time I seen solid blacks with the fox squirrels here in Nebraska. Nice video, I enjoyed,....well done & Thanks fer sharing.
I love Squirrel hunting, unfortunately in my area they are few and far between the last 10 years. I've put a few rabbits in the freezer this winter with my frontier 22. Great video , keep hunting and the Camara rolling.
Just got done with a squirrel hunt last weekend and ended up with three, I may have to go out tomorrow seeing there is no ice for fishing. Just bought an American Ruger 22lr and its a tack driver. Hope to get a henry here soon. Great video!
I love my .22 wmr. Silver I baby it but I use it! From woodpeckers to squirrel and an occasional beaver since they were destroying everything at the lake.
I bought my Henry Big Boy Classic 357 Mag brand new a few months ago after hearing the ad on Sean Hannity's show got me intrigued. After watching a few videos later that night Henry had me hooked and a month or so later I was a proud and happy Henry owner. I think I want a Henry Long Ranger 556 next. I just got another Henry shirt and have fallen in love with the company. I had a minor issue when the 357 BBC rifle, I bought online when it arrived, and Dina from Henry's world class customer service made everything far more than good with me. 🙂
Pretty open area. I’d recommend thicker cover since leaves have fallen and less cover to conceal in. Late in the season I switch from my Anschutz 1710 D KL in 22LR to my Cooper 57M Jackson squirrel rifle in 22mag. Haven’t found any sporter rifles more accurate or better quality.
Henry you are the very best in my humble opinion but, stop putting plastic parts on your entry lever 22 and offer steel and brass replacement parts like the barrel band
I'm teaching my son the basics of hunting, I want to get him ready for deer season and a little squirrel hunting would be a great first step! I've never actually purposefully went squirrel hunting, as a neighbor to the south (KS), what time were you out there hunting?
I understand when it comes to your opposite eye being dominant. I'm left handed, but my right eye is better, left eye is pretty blurry, always has been. I've shot righty my whole life because of it, and lucky me, shooting, driving manual and using a computer are the only things my right hand is good at.
Squirrel has a nice flavor, not as gamy as rabbit, but grown squirrels are very tough unless you pressure cook them or soak them in salt water before frying them up. Young squirrels taste the best, but grown ones are like chewing on hard rubber unless properly prepared. I like the flavor of squirrels much better than rabbit. Of course, tastes vary, but eating nuts generally gives squirrels a good taste/flavor.
Semi buckhorns are perfectly good sights that have Ben around for forever..practice with them and u will be just as good with semi buckhorns as u will be with any other open sight platforms
@@codyrivenburgh6007 they are extremely accurate for me. I love them on the golden boy and big boys. Everyone has different shooting preferences...as long as you're safe and hit your targets.
I’ve hunted my entire life, and to this day, nothing beats sitting out with my Henry .410 squirrel hunting. It’s just the best. Thanks and God bless.

I've never thought of using a call to bring in a squirrel. I usually just walk and stalk then shoot it when I see it. simple and relaxing hunt.
Excellent hunt!! Hard to beat a squirrel hunt!
Glad you enjoyed it Adam!

Henry’s 22 pump is amazing. They need to make a X series 22lr

Wait! Where’s grandma and the stew and the recipe? Part 2 coming?

Don’t know where you live but Wood Peckers are a protective species in most parts of the country there’s a hell of a fine if you get caught just sayin
Shredded fried squirrel boiled in cream of mushroom with one chopped onion and two potatoes.
