Looking into a Henry .22 mag and I really appreciated your efforts in this vid w/ different weights and accuracy at 50 yards. Good job and thank you-I think I’ll buy that thing.
Cool Tex Mex! I shot my little Henry H001 22LR just last week. I had to adjust the sights just a bit, but seeing the scope on your magnum there makes me want to scope mine. I appreciate the video as it is good info and took some time and effort to put it together.
Thanks Cervus! I was just happy to get out of the city and have some fun shooting. I was happy it liked the Federal 50 grain ammo since I might use it on some bigger critters. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. About to watch your hunting vid.
I bought a golden boy 22 mag years ago. Accurate right out of the box. Still smooth as butter. Money well spent. It'll definitely be passed down as i won't be giving it up or selling it.
Beautiful little rifle. When fed what it likes it's incredibly accurate especially for a lever action 22 Mag. Give the Winchester Dynapoint a try. It's slow like the 50 gr Fed but in many guns its very accurate. It has a copper washed bullet like the 22LR and will still expand at 100 yards.
Thanks for the heads up Frank! I'll try to get my hands on some Dynapoints. I was very happy with its performance. But I cleaned it up and put it back in my F.I.L.'s house. He's been known to shoot it out of his kitchen window at different critters.
@@texmexshoots Check out Buckeye Ballistics. He's a great guy with tons of ballistic content on everything from 22LR, 22 Mag to pistol cals and shotguns. + he uses real ballistic gel. Knox gelatin. He just completed a series on 22 Mag in gel at 50 & 100 yards and the results are amazing! Yes, I do a bit of backyard safari too. The 22 Mag is great for critter control.

Than you very much for showing us some paper rounds form a leaver Henry. This is the first I have see on paper, I have two Savage .22 magnums and bough shoot the federal 50 grain very tight groups one gagged hole. Shot the standard barrel quite a bit and it was so accurate I got one with the heavy long barrel, but have only shot it once, hopping for some good weather to get out and put some more rounds through it, as the group I did shoot was very good but not as tight as the standard barrel one, Hopping just needs a little breaking in, it is also stainless. Again thank you very much for the video, hopping to see more paper testing of the Henry lever rifles. I want to support the USA and Canadian companies, but accuracy is at the top of my list as at 76 years do mostly paper shooting and some steel.
Thanks for watching! I ended up purchasing another Henry 22mag which had some issues out of the box. Once they replaced the barrel, the accuracy wasn't great until I put about 200 rounds through it. Now the groups are tightening up using that exact same Federal 50 grain ammo. I should have that video up sometime soon.
That was a fun test. Thanks for taking us along and than you to your FIL for allowing us to shoot his little lever action rifle. BTW did you cook Christmas dinner for them??
Hey Frank! In fact yes I did. Roasted a turkey but made my life a bit easier by buying a pre-made ham. Hope you had a wonderful time during the holidays with your family.
I have the same rifle as you. I also found the Federal 50 grain the most accurate. Another I found accurate is the CCI 40grain target load with solid tip bullets.
