    One of Henry's best-kept secrets is the H001Y. I got one to keep my Golden Boy out of the weather and it gets the lion's share of the work by a mile. It loves everything I feed it from Colibris to Stingers. The smaller stock and barrel just make it so handy. I'm still impressed with it after several years.

    Just picked up a 45-70 side loader. There is recall on the firing pin on 45-70 models made between December 14th to January 11th 2023. The rifle can inadvertently fire if lowering a cocked hammer on a live round. Henry made me aware of this and is offering a $50 merchandise gift card for our inconvenience. Beautiful rifles. I’d like to get an American Beauty model for the wife.

Less than a month from the time they notified me. Not too bad I would say. I ordered the H011C today.

Lever action rifles chambered in 30-30 have probably led to more successful deer hunts in all terrains from Texas to Wisconsin than any other rifle made. Hard to believe that one of them didn't make the top 6.

    My retirement gift was a Henry Big Boy in .44 Magnum. It sits on the wall above my fireplace and has never been fired in 4 years of collecting dust. A friend came over and got me all excited about bringing it to a rifle range so we can fire it. The rifle has a tubular loading scheme. My dad's old 30-30 lever action had a side loading gate which I fired as a kid. Does anyone know if the .44 Magnum Big Boy with brass receiver can be modified at the factory to have a loading gate that can be retrofitted? That would be a real improvement for me.
    Just sitting on the couch drinking my morning coffee and looking at that rifle reminds me of how nice it is to be retired. It's far better than a gold watch. The rifle fit and finish is a true work of art.

    I have a Henry in 22LR, 44mag, 30-30 and 357mag. They all are good shooters. The 30-30 and 44mag have accounted for a slew of wild hogs on my place in South Texas. We have more hogs than you can imagine so we eat them and keep the freezer full. The 357 is fine for a secondary home defense rifle. The 22LR is excellent for small game. I do not regret buying any of these guns. Also, Henry stands behind everything they sell. If you have an issue, the WILL make it right, no problem. I know this first hand and appreciate that quality a ton. Whichever Henry you buy, you will like it. It will shoot. Feed it what it likes in ammo brand and then buy a lot of it and you cannot go wrong.

    I put sling swivels on it cuz a rifle without a sling is like a pistol without a holster

    I'd strongly hoped Henry would have brought out the 360 Buckhammer in their H024 series. There are only 4 calibers but the gun is a side gate with beautiful foreend and buttstock deep engraving. A Natural for the new caliber introduction.

    You may have seen this elsewhere, I plan on inserting this when ever I see some one talking about Henry. I want to state that I can not believe any company out there, will come even close to the customer service that Henry has. On 1/30/23 they completely wowed me on a gun (.44 BB) that I have had for 13 years, lets just say that there was a little something wrong with it, I had sent it in 2 or 3 times to have it repaired, they did for free each time. I Happened to buy one of their 45-70 last week and discovered that they made a improvement on it, that would have resolved the issue on mine. I emailed them asking them if they could retrofit mine with the improvement, and they replied back same day, long story short is, they are going to, after they receive mine, send me a brand new one. It makes me very happy that in the last 3 weeks I have bought a 45-70, a .410 and my H004 (.22 GB) should arrive tomorrow. I plan on buying one of their .308, as soon as I can find one.(2/2/23 found one received it on 2/9), I see they just came out with a 9mm Semi, looks like a very nice gun, not for me, I like the classic Lever's, but since I am trying to fill up one of their very NICE 8 gun cases, which I have not bought yet, perhaps a 30-30 is in my future. As soon as my wife forgets about the last 4 I have bought recently. (2/24 received the replacement .44 BB )

The "brasslite" stuff isn't super durable - the butt plate is scuffed where it rested into my shoulder while wearing a fleece jacket and the band around the fore stock is discolored where I gripped it with my hand. so be it I suppose. All the blued metal is excellent, and the walnut stocks are beautiful furniture grade.

      @Tim Walsh The only part I don't understand, is why the maker of such a quality rifle would use brass , which corrodes easily and therefore
      is unsightly when this happens .

    • @timwalsh715
      @timwalsh715 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tommurphree5630 On the larger bore rifles the receiver and other bits are true brass that is treated and sealed. Only on the 22s do they use the "brasslite" metal for the receiver. I used a jewelers rouge cloth and got at it and it got shiny, but the scuffs are still there, oh well. Perhaps its possible to use a little elbow grease and compound to polish out the rubs a bit but to me it adds a patina to the piece, broken in and gently used.
