The 22 magnum pump can be a hit or miss proposition. Henry has had some issues with the magnum version. My first one was a nightmare. Several trips back to Henry. Finally Mr. Emperato replaced it with another. Second one has been trouble free so far. Gotta love when a company takes care of its customers. Nice video as usual 22 Plinkster.

My father owned a .22 in Long, a pump, made in 1890. It had a long barrel and was very accurate. He also had a bolt action .22 in S, L, LR. It was a carbine, made in 1900. Both were Winchesters.

I bought my son a Rossi pump 22 LR in the youth model size. He loved it and still does. It's a sweet little rifle and holds 12 rounds. Perfect little SHTF rifle to add to your collection.

I got me a brand new Henry .22 mag this evening!! Can’t wait till morning to shoot it! I’m very excited!!!! I also want to get a .22 lr so I have both 20 years from now a matched set from the same year will be worth some money just wait and see!! The pump action rifles always get worth more with age always and a matched set with the boxes one of my grandkids will get a pretty penny if they want to sell them but I hope they love Pappy enough to just keep them in the family!!

My father, brother and I borrowed a 1906 from my dad's business partner before he died (about when we really got into shooting), and man, that breakdown lever action rifle is a nice rifle. Plus it was matching serial numbers! Shot anything and felt neat being the first pump .22lr we shot. The only complaint is that the tube stop/spring had a tendency to unscrew and walk off, causing rounds to go unfired and sitting in the tube. Good thing my father told us to shoot in a safe direction if we ever pulled the trigger. Reset the tube stop one day after walking out to the range, aimed into the grass near my feet, pulled, and a round went off that neither of us knew was in the chamber. Both of us were shocked.

I own three Henry rifles, all are Fantastic !!! The LR pump is my Favorite. The Lever octagon is a close second. I also have the round barrel lever action I bought at walley -world years ago for $ 140.00 They never jam, they are very accurate and the prices are reasonable.
My son's have the Pump LR's I bought them for their Birthdays and my oldest just bought the 45-70. It's a smooth action and shoots very accurately. He had a tang sight installed and it nails a 12" steel gong about every time at 200 yds. He's taking it on an Elk hunt in the fall. You can't go wrong with a Henry !!!

YES! .22 rimfire pump (Trombone?) guns are lots-o-fun. I have a Rossi 62-SAC .22 carbine purchased in 1982 for $127. It is 32.5" long with 16.5" barrel, shoots S,L,LR interchangeably, is top eject with exposed (half cock safety) hammer and holds 11 LR and 15 Shorts, not sure about long ammo capacity. This gun takes down to under 20" and weighs about 4.5 lbs. There is no disconnector so holding the trigger down it will fire as fast as you pump. To date have over 25,000 rounds thru it, not really a lot for 36 years of shooting.
Have a Taurus 72 .22 magnum exposed hammer pump carbine (purchased in 2001) with 16.5" barrel and holds 10 rounds. Also a takedown. Never shot a Henry pump, would like to try it. Nice video, well done.

I havent looked at it before this vid. But i love that rifle. My brother has the octagon barrel. Same modle or make. Great little 22.
Shot clay pogroms at 100 yrds, no problems.

I had wanted a "gallery gun" for a long time. I had watched many videos , including yours, and thought why not. I went with the Henry for several reasons and I'm happy I did. I broke it in with a few hundred rounds (and TW25B) and the action smoothed right out.
The rifle is more accurate then I was expecting. I really didn't like the buckhorn sight or the short distance to the front sight .. just my preference. I removed the buckhorn sight and added a Skinner blank with peep holder. I added the Skinner H001 rear peep sight (same as small game rifle). Took about 1 hr to drill, tap and install. I was about 2" high at 25 yards so I installed a taller fiber optic on the front.
Shoots extremely accurate and is just a lot of fun. By the way the people at Henry CS are very helpful and knowledgeable.

+22plinkster You are not doing proper "reviews", plinkster. You keep bad aspects of a gun secret or directly excuse them after pointing them out. Also, you should ALWAYS say if a gun was sponsored. I expect you to be that honest and transparent to your loyal viewers! It is no secret that Henry is a sponsor of your channel and is also very active on full30 with advertisement. Nobody has something against sponsoring, as long as the gun youtubers make it transparent and don't hold bad aspects of a gun back for keeping sponsorings up...

Like your channel for this reason: Practice with my firearms is mainly an exercise with tools that I use for a task...my carry pistol is a tool for self defense...my rifle is to dispatch game, as well as the shotgun, but .22's are a different story. Im not sure which one to pick between the 22lr and 22wmr pump. I can only afford one, I already have 3 lever henry.. 1 is a 22mag lever, the other two are two 22lr lever henry.. but i d like to get 1 pump to add to my henry collection, 22 mag are almost 50 cent to shoot.. which can be expensive for plinking. But at like you said, flatter and better punch.. more useful i guess.. but if the goal to pump is to plink like in those old school gallery.. and shoot as many as possible then a 22 lr would make more sense for a pump… which one did you like most the henry pump 22mag or 22lr? If you only have to have 1

I used to love the 22 mag years ago. But they don’t shoot as hard as they did 20 years or so ago. Me and my friends used to shoot 22 mags a lot years ago and they would shoot thur a poplar tree 10 inches in diameter pretty easy. Ive tried a couple of different 22 mags in the past 10 years or so and they won’t even shoot thru a 3 inch diameter poplar. They did something different with the powder for some reason. I would just assume to have the 22 lr. They shoot just about as hard as the 22 mag. With the stingers or yellow jackets. Id like to see you do a video using gel blocks to compare the 22 lr and the 22 mag.

You need a camera man, lol. Thanks for the review. That's an area I haven't explored yet, good ol pump actions

Why do I now endeavor to find a Henry pump 22? It doesn't make sense when I already bought a Remington Fieldmaster last August. Especially since I don't want a Henry lever action because I already have a 39a.
I know that there is no way that the Henry sights can match the Remington sights.

Dang. I'm in the market for a .22mag and I think this is what I'm going to end up getting. Any chance you could do an accuracy test on these? I've got a Remington 572 .22lr pump action that I just love. Would be nice to get this Henry in .22mag to go with it.

I am continually amazed no one produces a 22 Magnum semiautomatic rifle! I think I heard Browning makes one at one point but it's extremely expensive? Even Savage is making a semi auto 17hmr now! I wonder why Ruger quit making a 10/22 magnum?

Always loved the smooth action of those carnival rifles. Regardless their bent sights, I always won the cupi doll for my girl.
People should consider this kind of action for a SHTF gun to go to. I believe it can be found in .357, .44 mag, .45LC and more calibers still.
Oh, I see Hicock45 has rubbed off on you with that gong. Nice nod to the great man.

Hope they will offer them with a peep site someday light they do the small game lever action models. These guns are pretty popular with older guys, but they need a peep site to help older eyes.

Do you have a Remington field master model 121? If you do you should make a video on it it's a great rifle.

I purchased a new in the box H003TM Friday 12-4-2020 , I took it out today to shoot it , I loaded the tube , pumped the action and it wouldn't chamber the round , also hard to pump . I paid full retail + tax , $696.50 , + gas to the store and back , what a disappointment , I was going to buy the H003T next , but will not now , I don't recommend anyone buying this high dollar rifle , sending it back for fixing , then getting it back and paying transfer fee and insurance would be another $100.00 putting it up to $800.00 , not worth the trouble .
Henry got me once , I can assure you Henry won't get me twice . The rifles you see in this video as I did before I made my purchase were checked to make sure there were no function problems , the one I purchased new apparently wasn't checked , I've been shooting pump .22s for 40 years , this one is substandard , my cheap Rossi 62CS is a much better rifle as far as function goes , very disappointed .
    Merry Christmas folks .

A Marlin Model 60, Ruger 10/22, Thompson TC/22 and a CZ-452/455 are ALL better than Henry rifles and cost much less money as well.
Also Henry rifles in particular the .22s have known accuracy issues. They don't shoot that great and nothing he is doing in this video is really showing or testing the accuracy. Ringing plates of steel doesn't measure accuracy other than minute of target or bad guy. Shoot paper at distance and measure the groups. Most Henry .22s don't print worth a hoot and don't shoot to POA/POI.

Bad luck. My henry h001 lever is unbelievably accurate out to 100 yards and cycles smooth as butter. Best most reliable 22 I ever owned. Cant speak foe the pump

The advantage of being able to shoot shorts et al is bigger than you might think... esp when availability is an issue. I often see shorts available when LR is not. I have an old Remington tube fed bolt action that digests everything... with shorts it never seems to run out of ammo! Backyard plinking? CB longs! quiet as an air gun. My 10-22 will not digest any of these other options. (nor will any .22 semi auto, to be fair) That 22magnum really whacks 'em!
