    I NEVER comment on YT videos, but I have to say this is brilliant. I am not very useful when it comes to DIY, but I have been wanting to replace the bathtub in my mobile home for some time. I was always afraid to do it because I didn't have a clue how to do it. I was on the verge of hiring a contractor until I found your video. You explain everything very well, and you have given me the confidence to attempt this job myself. Thank you...

    Just a awesome instruction video. We just bought our first mobile home & have renovations to do. Tubs/bathrooms are a must.
    QUESTION: since the p-trap can be disconnected, at this point, could you move the drain location by adding piping then the p-trap back? Just extending the pipe length to accommodate a right drain vs a center drain? (I hope that’s understandable, I sometimes have a hard time explaining things) but they make sense in my head, lol
    Thank you for the awesome video!

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching!! Much appreciated. To answer your question, yes you are able to move the location of the drain. You would do exactly as you said. You would disconnect drain, add piping to move. Sometimes, when you have a Center Drain the piping is already moved to one side, then you would just cut there and add your drain. I hope that helps!

    Great video. Wish my experience replacing my tub would have been that easy. My old tub came out without any problems, however putting the new one in wasn’t so easy. I had to take out drywall to give me enough clearance for the new tub to be put back in. Pain in the behind is a understatement.

    • @ptmy8590
      @ptmy8590 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have been going through the same issue. The old tub had a platform built to hold it. Dumb me assumed that the new one was the same. I had to redo sheetrock and insulation due to water damage. After completing that I realized that I had to cut out some sheetrock to get the tub in since the new one actually had to be put in on the studs and not like the previous one. I am trying to get the surround put in now.

    Bravo- Awesome video and very informative, i've been rentavating mobile homes in the akron canton ohio area for 24 years and had lots of unpleasant experiences with bathtubs, waterlines, waistwater lines. Yeah, Holly Parks genius ideal off having the p traps above the floor underneath the tubs, however the replacent tubs don't have spacing. Toilets 9 inches sometimes 7 from tubs. Hot water tanks a inch or 2 from the overfill.every wall way out of square install new shower surands. Fun stuff.

    Do you work anywhere around Conroe Tx ... I have the middle back drain and watching your video I figured out why our tubs keep cracking around the drain. We paid a who lot of money to replace the original tub because it cracked around the drain and then the second one cracked too. There is a big hole around the drain and when my grandson showers most of his weight on his right foot is on or near that drain and there is a big hole there. No support for his weight. Have you heard anyone else with that problem and how to fix it for the next tub replacement we need done. We paid a bunch of money a little over a year ago for that replacement I can't afford that again.

    I recently purchased a 2004 Redman 14x70 mobile home. Does the shower faucet need to be specific to a mobile home part or can it be a shower faucet that can be found at a Lowe’s or Home Depot? I’m a new subscriber and first time home buyer. Thanks for any advice!

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question! If you are looking to replace just the faucet and not the surround, then you will need a specific faucet. The reason is because of the previously cut holes in your surround. This way they will line up correctly. Now, if you are replacing the surround (walls) you can at that time replace the faucet with any from Lowe's or Home Depot. If you need to replace and handle of the faucet or the stem & bonnet, you will need the mobile home specific part. I hope this was helpful! Thank you for watching the video!

      Hi. You would want to purchase it from a Mobile Home store. You would want to find one close to your area. Often you will pay more for shipping than the tub.

      Thank you for watching. :) I purhcased the tub from Mobile Home Parts-4-U out of Colorado. They may offer shipping. There number is 970-222-2731. Best wishes.

    Yo, that was fantastic. Do you have a go to for replacement parts for mobile homes? I'm just hoping my tub size and the replacement fits like yours did! LOL

    Would I have to go under my mobile home to replace my tube?

    How much does it usually cost for a bathroom remodel in a trailer?

    Remodeling my bathroom. Question: why is there a hole under the tub? Previous owner had a huge mice problem. Tons of mice poop under the tub along with insulation as a nest. Does that hole have to be there?

      Thank you for watching! It usually take about 2-4 hours, depending on if we are redoing the sub-floor under the tub.

    I am thinking of replacing mine, and not sure how to remove those shower wall pins(i think that's what there called)
    Can you show how to remove the round things that keep the shower wall on?

    What about leveling the floor? Also, most instructions to install a tub or shower pan is to the joist. I want to attach my shower pan to a sealed/waterproof/redguard wall. How do you design a vapor barrier for mobile home showers pan?

    Question. Im working on a garden tub but no access to the drain pipe from inside as its on a main back wall. How do you access it? Under the house and are mobile home tub drains all the same size (P-trap)

    • @randythemobilehomeguy3715
      @randythemobilehomeguy3715  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, usually when the plumped them just out the bottom they make an access directly below the drain, under the home. Usually home home drains are 1 1/2 ABS and travels a bit then dumps into 2 inch, sometimes closer to the pTrap than others. Thanks for the reply

      If you living in a mobile/modular home (I'm assuming you do cause of this video) you will need to get in contact with your local mobile home dealership. Unfortunately one of the joys of owning a mobile home, is everything is all build with different plumbing and dimensions than a stick home.
