The presentation on WHAT MADE MADDY RUN tells the story of how Kate Fagan reported the details of Madison Holleran’s life and suicide with the aim at drawing universal lessons to help explain why young people today are suffering from higher levels of anxiety, depression and suicidal thought than ever previously seen. She shares insights about cultural issues at play, technological issues, and mental health issues that are contributing to these rising rates.
Fagan’s aim for this presentation was to share insights into young people today that will help professionals see the water in which young people in 2021 are swimming and how it differs from anything previously seen, think differently about the kids among us who seem to be excelling, who seem “well-adjusted and fine,” and glean even more insights into how social media could be shifting the minds and perspectives of our young people.
