I remember hearing this song a lot on the radio when it was first released. It continued being popular throughout the year of 2006/2007. It is nostalgic for me now. It reminds me of being a carefree teenager of 15, going to a snooker bar with my friends, drinking Pepsi, and eating chips. Worrying about the future, school, and trying to connect with girls and diminish my social awkwardness. Good times. A British youth faded in time.
Are you kidding? From 2004-2007 they were one of the biggest bands in the country, 5 top 10 singles, 1st album 4x platinum, 2nd album 5x platinum. They got loads of attention.
This was a time. Lily Allen, Duffy, The Streets, Amy Whinehouse, Corin Bailey Ray, The Kooks, Razorlight, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Hoosiers, Kasabian, the list goes on pretty much all bringing our their debuts in the same year some of them living round the corner or just seeing them around London all the time actual artists on MTV singing in British accents such creative moving music it was so new and different like our generations Brit Pop- we were spoilt. I miss it. And we all thought the Killers we’re British hahaha the good old days.
Same i guess. It is definitly the geniration i was ment to be in. Todays "music" is basicly white noise, a constapation groan, and "musicians" forcing what they think is right or wrong and basicly their opinions down out throughts.
It truley is a funny old world. Ive never really listened to oasis even tho im from Scotland. Not but two minutes ago this song came on. Sometimes you cant put all of what you feel in one song this tho. Today right now is how i feel. I left Scotland for a better life and it is just that, im married ive a buisness in a place called Port Townsend in Washington state. The paper mill is in full production, the wind is blowing so the town smells like sulphur/brocolie farts. Its chilly outside and over cast, the streets are empty. Not a soul walking on the pavement. I think about the people i left behind in my pursuit, the birthdays, deaths and marriages ive missed. But honoured and raised a glass to from the other side. On days like these when i have time to think. I almost always ask was it worth it. People are mostly good but they lack the open heart, the compassion, the depth of not only conversation but communication. Today i miss my home land, i miss my people, i miss the stranges in the street, i miss the familular dialects, i miss the pub culture, i miss having a cuppa with those who know, i miss the food but more than anything i miss the reasuring words, hugs and handshakes of those closest. Itll all be okay after a cuppa, some toast and a couple of worthy dunking biscuits.
This song is just pure nostalgia of long drives in the British countryside at night coming home to our small humble home looking out the window and having day dreams about America
This song came out when i was a little kid. I didn't understand the sentiment of the song back then but now as a 26 year old the lyrics hit really hard.
When I first heard wire to wire I was just another 17 year old boy having no access to the internet nor had any money. Now I am grown 27 and I always had the song stuck on my mind. It was not the only song I was determined I would listen to once I grew up and had money of my own. It's a different kind of life out here for me at least. Nobody would know. These are just pure gold. The bands and music from 2000s. It's like these bands were giving out their last big first shot.
Damn, i remember listening to this from my iPod as a little kid. Just starting elementary, parents were still together, my sister who is now a grown-ass teenager was just a newborn baby. Life was so simple.
It was early 2008, I was passed out on my friend's step-dad's floor after getting pissed for the first time. I had a hangover the size of America itself and would have remained firmly in the foetal position for the whole day had it not been for my friend's polyphonic version of this song playing for what seemed like the 28th time separated by ten minute intervals after he'd set it as his alarm. My eardrums and brain as a whole have a permanent imprint of this song and I can't hear that riff without smiling. Nee-nee-nee-neeneenee
I was there too it was crazy when Ricky Wilson was climbing up the scaffolding I also got some sort of substance thrown at me I would like to think it’s beer but who would throw a £10 pint
I remember so much good music coming out at this time. To me, this was a golden age. We are starting to see a return with new artists but my god things were coming out left right and center here. Bands that actually wrote and played their own music. And what music!
POV - It's 2007. I'm 10 years old and just finished watching a re-run of "My Parents Are Aliens" on CITV. I've signed Carlos Vela on my FIFA 07 career mode save on PS2, because I read on a forum that he becomes really good after a couple of seasons. This song is blasting on the kitchen radio.
I first watched it on the MTV channel during breakfast and lunch at Bellerbys College in Brighton during my high school years in 2007. I later found this video on TH-cam while preparing for my A2 exams and listened to it all the time. Now, hearing the melody again brings back those old feelings.
