    It's really amazing seeing this for the first time, it feels like 10 and Donna are still about in the TARDIS and this was a little snippet into what they're doing. But of course because it's time travel they are around somewhere.

  • @EverChangingShadow
    @EverChangingShadow 4 ปีที่แล้ว +84

    Meh. Something felt very, off. I think it was a mistake for her to recognise the Doctor and Donna so easily and quickly. Lacked emotion.
    Plus, there was something deeper in the fact Agatha never knew how great she was, but she had a great life and she didn't need to be shown she was valued.
    Whereas with Vincent Van Gogh, knowing he was brilliant and valued made things a little different. Less bitter maybe. Showing him the future of his work was about giving him a gift he desperately needed. Even if it didn't mean he had a happy ending.

    I feel like it makes sense that they cut this. It seems unrealistic that Agatha would just accept that the Doctor and Donna are back, look the same, she suddenly remembers that day, her book was published in the year 6 billion... but if they made Agatha skeptical to keep it realistic and had the Doctor and Donna take the time to really convince her of all this, the details would bog down the scene so much it would take all the poignancy out of it.

    Nice to see the alternative scene, and I do like the concept, but the fact the old lady said to the nurse she didn't want visitors, no legitimate nurse would have ignored a patients wishes, so the Doctor and Donna just going in to the bedroom just makes the Doctor come across as uncaring, as Donna's character would have respected the old girls rights. Also I found the bedroom set very dull and the acting from the Agatha character just wasn't strong enough next to that of either David or Catherine. So I like the concept, and it's nice to see the alternative was considered, but cutting it out was the better choice I feel. As others have said, this worked well for the Vincent Van Gogh episode, and in other episodes where we see a young/old transition, such as Blink, when Billy is a young police officer, then has to wait all those years till he can again see Sally, that worked well.

    It’s 1st May 2020, I became a fan of Doctor Who after a few episodes of Matt’s Smith’s first series had aired....
    (In Donna Noble’s voice!)
    HOW HAVE I NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OR READ ON THE DOCTOR WIKIA ABOUT THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

      Wolfiethehero Productions Same here. Literally no idea this existed.
      But, because of that, we have both had the unbelievable privilege of seeing new (to us) footage of Donna and the 10th Doctor in their heyday.
      How flipping cool is that!! 😁

    This is the one thing I dislike about the streaming era. The special features and in particular the deleted scenes. Which were wonderfully preserved on the earlier DVD releases and I got to experience myself as I loved all the special features. Sadly, they started to disappear on later releases, something which I cherish the RTD sets for.

      Completely agree. I adore seeing special features like deleted scenes, so have been deeply disappointed in how few DVD releases have featured them following on from the RTD era.

      @@DoctorBlueDW Not that I'm a big fan of them or anything, but the fact that the commentaries went from being on every episode to about half of the episodes tells you something about the effort they put into the releases after that point.

    I do like the idea of this scene but I'm kinda glad it got cut because otherwise it wouldn't have been reused for the Vincent scene.

    I quite love the idea of people from other planets reading Agatha Christie's books. It makes me wonder if there are other books that they love to read too, like Sherlock Holmes or Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
