The worst part about all this is the fact that the same people were in charge of both programmes and a crossover would have easily been a possibility. Imagine a Christmas special of Sherlock and Doctor Who, with the other showing up in each others shows. Sherlock and Watson help fight off a Dalek Invasion of Earth in the year 5000 and The Doctor and Clara helped solve the mystery of a Crime spree spearheaded by Moriarty in London. Someone give Big Finish a call.
That sounds too...mediocre...(?) I think something like Sherlock helping the Doctor with his deduction & observation skills while being complemented with the doctor's knowledge of alien lives sounds more fun.Something like a mystery/conspiracy/murder mystery in space. And it should be fun to see Sherlock theorize about weird things like "the impossible girl".
It would make no sense, there have been endless references to both Arthur Conan Doyle and the existence of the Sherlock mythos throughout Doctor Who's history. The Doctor has even dressed in Sherlock costumes numerous times in reference to the character. Sherlock is a work of fiction in the Doctor Who universe. It wouldn't make sense for Sherlock to be a beloved fictional character created by Arthur Conan Doyle and also a real person living in the 20th century.

oh 7 years later how i wish this was real, how i wish we had the golden age of the doctor back, and sherlock, just one more season, always just one more.
Matt Smith’s Doctor is most likely going to return along with Capaldi and possibly Tennant in the 60th special in a couple years, so part of the golden age of the Doctor will be back. Idk about Sherlock tho
Oh man this used to look so damn real! but now you spot like the warping of the face and cutting pretty well. BUT with that being said it is still crazy well done!
Yea, looks like 3d models that are mapped when inside the tardis. Watch their mouths. Especially on the "im the doctor" line, his mouth doesnt even move correctly. That and they arent talking to each other really. If you listen you can hear the different ambience behind bith of them, as well as matt smiths changing with almost every line
I'm glad I've looked at your comment I was literally going to scour the interbent looking for the lost episode,, but hell yes what a series it would have been,, one for the future
In all fairness, Sherlock would impress the doctor. Like they get onto a planet, Sherlock deduces the whole thing whilst the doctor just flaps his hands around
I think sherlock would be the perfect companion. The doctor's knowledge combined with sherlock's intelligence. Eg The doctor tells sherlock (instead of donna) that the ood have no feelings and their only purpose is to serve. Sherlock deduces that it can't be right and figures out the translator was actually their hind brain. And just like that, he saves around 30-35 mins fof episode time
David Daniel Wouters I didn't know about it until you just said it, it looks like older skins with aliens lol I usually wait for stuff to go to netflix, I don't have myface or anything so I'm not bothered with spoilers.. But sherlock is worth watching asap lol
It would be very pleasent for benedict cumberbatch because he loves doctor who and even wanted to be the actor of him. So why BBC don't just, you know, do it?
The BBC needs to do this as a one-off special for Children in need or Comic relief and just make it clear the episode isn't canon if that's what they're worried about.
I think the Doctor could easily appear in a Sherlock episode. Maybe not as a main focus, more of a "bumps into Sherlock while fixing his tie" sort of thing, like with Martha Jones. Sherlock in a Doctor Who episode would also be quite easy to pull off, especially if we consider the Doctor bumping into Sherlock as canon between both universes. Though, I don't think Sherlock has many aliens around so, maybe it's a pocket dimension? Anything is possible with Doctor Who involved.
Isn't there an episode where the Doctor pretends to be Sherlock Holmes? There it looked more like the traditional 19th century mockup, but ofc that doesn't need to mean anything I believe it's The Abominable Snowmen Maybe 11 took Sherlock back where the other stories happened? The one that's called The Abominable Bride, that can't be a coincidence
I watched this thinking it was fairly new due to how incredible the editing is- only to find out this was made 8 years ago? That right there knocked my metaphorical socks off. Well done. Everything about this could have been an impeccable crossover episode. There was so much unsaid backstory in so little time. It’s a shame that this was never the case considering Torchwood is sort of canon in Sherlock. (Unless it was just a throwaway easter egg in which case that would be quite the disappointment.)
I love how a lot of people are all going "uh, this is fake, look the mouths!". Can't we just stop for a moment and contemplate how f*cking epic this is?
John is to Sherlock as Mickey is to Rose I always come back to this video every now and then for the nostalgia trip. Still can't believe how good this looks, even today it's pretty well done.
I think if this actually occurred on television, the results would be beyond our craziest imaginations. It would be so clever, unique, and interesting.
I've come back to this video to say thank you. Thank you for being my first ever contact with Doctor Who all those years ago and thank you for making me appreciate this show so much like I'm doing today. And as it should be, Matt Smith was always my favorite Doctor and he still is. Thank you!
the question is would something like this require the return of Matt Smith for such an episode?...actually i could not envision such an epic event being less than 2 or three episodes...it would take that many to fully take advantage of the meeting and leave room for another at a future date...Capaldi is very good as an older Doctor but i think Mc Gann, Eccleston,Tennant or even Smith would each give an amazing performance if given the opportunity...although i would have LOVED to have seen a younger Tom Bakers interplay with the modern day Sherlock
still very possible...maybe as a flashback triggered by a related event in the present (or future) would be awesome if the Doctor took Sherlock back in time receive a Stradivarius violin and learning that is one of the reasons he loves playing it
I’ve seen a couple of comments about how the dialogue here is a bit stilted (although that’s because it’s a “work with what you got” situation and is actually a really good selection of clips to make the conversation flow as smoothly as possible given the circumstances) but something you might not have considered is that when two extremely high-functioning individuals have a conversation, they actually have about 60% of the conversation in their heads, not bothering to say out loud the obvious words they both know the script for. A good example is here when The Doctor says “any remarks?” and Sherlock responds “where are we?” The Doctor knows he’s thinking “it’s bigger on the inside” (or some variation thereof), Sherlock knows he knows, and therefore what’s the point in saying the words out loud when they both know how the next few lines of conversation is going to go? Instead, Sherlock skips to the next unknown variable. It’s something me and my brothers do when we’re talking with no one else around: between how well we all know each other’s thought and speech patterns, the speed at which all our brains work and our mutual dislike of small talk, we can have a conversation that is perfectly incomprehensible to our mother because she will hear me ask my brother what he thought of the latest Game of Thrones episode and he’ll respond by talking about Maisie Williams’ latest Instagram post of her in costume, which we both know means his favourite part was whatever badass thing Arya did that episode - we just cut out the thirty seconds in the middle because we both know what he’s going to say. It actually makes perfect sense for Sherlock and The Doctor to have short, stilted conversations, because why would they say more words than necessary when they both know how it’s going to go? A better use of that time and brainpower would be working on solving whatever problem is at hand!
They probably got tired and they couldn’t use scene clips (they had to make it seem like they were saying it like how the Doctor said ‘do I even look like people?’ Outside the TARDIS to Amelia Pond)
@@jimbob7568 Well, didn't the creators of 'Sherlock' came up with the idea of the show while filming 'Doctor Who'? Wouldn't be that difficult to find that writers I guess.
I really really really wish this was real; two of my favorite fictional characters of all time both very clever; A madman with a box and a Junkie who gets high off of solving crime in my personal opinion unless someone shares this opinion The Doctor and Sherlock need to meet at least in one crossover special.
All that is needed is Moriarty and the master to work together. And the moment they decide to betray each other would be gold Master: I'm betraying you Moriarty: ah but I saw that coming and planned this Master: ah ha, I anticipated your anticipation and planned this Moriarty: ha, I saw your anticipation of my anticipation coming and planned this. Etc.
Ah, but the best part is this would leave their plans in shambles, both making steps to obliterate the other's side until naught of the results remain, and both Sherlock and the Doctor are just watching from the TARDIS, eating scones or something, placing bets on which one had more double crosses planned.
Honestly, where do you think they came up with The Master? They're the same character, except one's an alien. Really, all Doctor Who is is Alien Time Traveller Sherlock Holmes.
Uhm.. you know which two characters were also not only practically but literally the same? The Master and Missy! And they have met already! So why not? Hell, why not both of them meet up with Moriarty?? That would be awesome!
Imagine how confused John would've been with his 'best'friend going into a small box with another guy. Then the door closing and it just disappears. Poor him.
I thought this was a real thing done by BBC until we saw the inside of the Tardis. Fantastic editing, and the way the doctor hides himself after giving a glimpse of himself to sherlock
In the many years I've watched doctor who, and this fantastic edit, this has to the best TARDIS de-materialization of them all. Such an elegant disappearance that outlines the body and complements the text that would be the last thing seen. Such a great job! I also watched the VFX breakdown and that was incredibly interesting to see.
Beth Anthony - Faked his death didn't come back for two years ..... Disappeared after his wedding ...... Goes to eastern Europe to face death through mycrofts coercion ..... "I don't have friends" ....... Puts him through a fear experiment. just to prove a point ...... Burdens him with knowledge of his killer wife.rather than letting john know ...... calls him an idiot once every episode or at least implies it (seriously check) The list goes on i would actually surmise that he hates john and would gladly side with the madman with a box
Stewart Mair Most of those things were to keep John safe, e.g. him going off for two years trying to eliminate Moriarty's web (which caused him to have to go on the run, be tortured, be hunted down etc etc) was, initially to stop a sniper from KILLING John, and him destroying Moriarty's web was to continue to protect John. The fear experiment was wrong, I admit, but Sherlock apologised to John for that. Yes Sherlock sometimes calls John an idiot, but that's just SHERLOCK. He doesn't mean anything malicious by it. He told John about Mary's past because John had a right to know. And as for him hating John, I'm sorry, but I have NO idea where you got that from. Sherlock loves John. John is his 'pressure point', his 'damsel in distress'. He wants to keep John safe and happy - as proved by him organising a damn wedding that was breaking his heart, but doing it anyway because he wanted John to be HAPPY. He left the wedding early because he was heartbroken and lonely and couldn't stand it anymore, that's so obvious. There is no possible reading of this show that summarises to anything other than Sherlock and John caring for each other in infinite measures. Sorry, I went off on a bit of a rant there - it's just that this show is kinda my life.
Why? It's fucking time machine, Sherlock can return in a few second - nothing for doctor, but one more life for detection. And, I want you to recall. Sherlock had left John... once
I love this video! Sherlock is my favorite! I know there's a whole lot of clips added and this whole thing was edited, but, I still love it to this day!

So you didn't think it was fake just because this would never actually happen?
no need to be rude
Imagine if the BBC actually made this an official TV special crossover. It’s a bit late now, but it would have been amazing, especially to see both these characters play off of each other.
Two things.
1. Sherlock just said shut up making the scene funny.
2. Book, movie, or tv series I don’t care we need this as a real thing.

Also matt Smith looks past sherlock as if there's someone over his shoulder

The difference in intelligence would be a massive blow to Sherlock’s Ego.

In all fairness, Sherlock would impress the doctor.

@@rossoakley8900 I feel like the doctor couldn’t work with him to big an ego to little moral compass to little chances to have fun
Sherlock: *doesn't know earth orbits the sun*
The Doctor: I've done it again, picked another stupid ape
I think sherlock would be the perfect companion. The doctor's knowledge combined with sherlock's intelligence.
Eg
The doctor tells sherlock (instead of donna) that the ood have no feelings and their only purpose is to serve.
Sherlock deduces that it can't be right and figures out the translator was actually their hind brain.
And just like that, he saves around 30-35 mins fof episode time
The way they move and how the place fades in with them makes it look like it's a virtual game where you can pick the choices,it's beyond cool, amazing

It would be very pleasent for benedict cumberbatch because he loves doctor who and even wanted to be the actor of him. So why BBC don't just, you know, do it?
Cookie- Chan In many interviews Cumberbatch said he would never play the doctor. lol
The BBC needs to do this as a one-off special for Children in need or Comic relief and just make it clear the episode isn't canon if that's what they're worried about.
The episode can be cannon
Cumberbatch plays Sherlock in a Canon episode, everyone wins.
This should be a great Christmas special kind of a memory that the new doctor shares with his/her new companion
There it looked more like the traditional 19th century mockup, but ofc that doesn't need to mean anything
I believe it's The Abominable Snowmen
Maybe 11 took Sherlock back where the other stories happened? The one that's called The Abominable Bride, that can't be a coincidence
What an adventure the Doctor and Sherlock could have. I’d sure love to see that.
BBC needs to give us this crossover *throws money* I want this now!
Well you see doctor who likes to be atleast somewhat historical and it's already been told that he's fiction so it would be weird for him to exist

Now I’m just thinking about how 8 years ago, 14 year old me would have killed for this crossover.
Sherlock left his companion to become the Doctor's companion and now Watson is the doctor.

I WANT TO SEE THIS AS A ACTUAL EPISODE!
#Bullshit .... It officially became a thing
And if they do they better do it with Matt Smith and not Peter Capaldi
Moffet directs both...there's a very, very good chance that something like this might wind up as one of the two part Christmas episodes
the question is would something like this require the return of Matt Smith for such an episode?...actually i could not envision such an epic event being less than 2 or three episodes...it would take that many to fully take advantage of the meeting and leave room for another at a future date...Capaldi is very good as an older Doctor but i think Mc Gann, Eccleston,Tennant or even Smith would each give an amazing performance if given the opportunity...although i would have LOVED to have seen a younger Tom Bakers interplay with the modern day Sherlock
still very possible...maybe as a flashback triggered by a related event in the present (or future) would be awesome if the Doctor took Sherlock back in time receive a Stradivarius violin and learning that is one of the reasons he loves playing it
I’ve seen a couple of comments about how the dialogue here is a bit stilted (although that’s because it’s a “work with what you got” situation and is actually a really good selection of clips to make the conversation flow as smoothly as possible given the circumstances) but something you might not have considered is that when two extremely high-functioning individuals have a conversation, they actually have about 60% of the conversation in their heads, not bothering to say out loud the obvious words they both know the script for.
I remember watching this before watching either Sherlock or Doctor who and thinking this was real, now visiting it after is extremely hilarious
First half: ah wow that's damn good editing
Second half: wtf this really happend?
thank god i thought i’d gone mental
They probably got tired and they couldn’t use scene clips (they had to make it seem like they were saying it like how the Doctor said ‘do I even look like people?’ Outside the TARDIS to Amelia Pond)
I feel it’s real because it says bbc ome

All that is needed is Moriarty and the master to work together. And the moment they decide to betray each other would be gold
Master: I'm betraying you
Moriarty: ah but I saw that coming and planned this
Master: ah ha, I anticipated your anticipation and planned this
Moriarty: ha, I saw your anticipation of my anticipation coming and planned this.
Etc.
oh god but think of the fanfictions that would be put into gear-Im sure there are some out there now...nope nope nope
Ah, but the best part is this would leave their plans in shambles, both making steps to obliterate the other's side until naught of the results remain, and both Sherlock and the Doctor are just watching from the TARDIS, eating scones or something, placing bets on which one had more double crosses planned.

I thought this was a real thing done by BBC until we saw the inside of the Tardis. Fantastic editing, and the way the doctor hides himself after giving a glimpse of himself to sherlock
"movie". BBC Sherlock is a series. It is completely separate from films made by Guy Ritchie.
I only have one criticism - Sherlock wouldn't leave John behind!
I think John would disagree with you there.
Beth Anthony - Faked his death didn't come back for two years ..... Disappeared after his wedding
...... Goes to eastern Europe to face death through mycrofts coercion
..... "I don't have friends"
....... Puts him through a fear experiment. just to prove a point
...... Burdens him with knowledge of his killer wife.rather than letting john know ...... calls him an idiot once every episode or at least implies it (seriously check)
The list goes on i would actually surmise that he hates john and would gladly side with the madman with a box
Stewart Mair He doesnt hate him. John's one of the only human Sherlock loves actually. But he's Sherlock... he doesnt love like anybody else... XD
Why? It's fucking time machine, Sherlock can return in a few second - nothing for doctor, but one more life for detection. And, I want you to recall. Sherlock had left John... once
