Here we go... time to push myself and see what I am made of! It's been a long time since I done any sort of long distance ride, so I decide to tackle a 200km round trip to go see the world's biggest waves at Nazare. I am completely out of shape at the moment, according to strava I am the most unfit I have ever been. I am out to prove a point that powered by sheer determination alone you can conquer anything you want to achieve. So let's get out there and make it happen.

Cant imagine a better host. Great ride. Cycling is about having fun, if that’s not there anymore what is there? The fact that you enjoyed it, even at lower levels of fitness says it all. You dont have to kill yourself every time you go out. I’ve seen people completely burn themselves out in order to stay ‘competitive’.

Cycling is not about the data.. Cycling is about being outside, enjoying the sun, the wind, the birds, the views, not being in a hurry, and the feeling of freedom. I enjoy cycling more now than when I was racing.
No word of a lie, I was thinking as you went down to see the waves it would be cool if you did some tours with fans. And followed up with some fresh ink in the studio to mark the trip.
Wicked idea. Would be awesome to see the tours on the channel with others having a laugh and enjoying the area.

Awesome! I seem to always let my bike fitness fall off a cliff every summer. Trying this year to keep it steadily going up. Love the content! The more exploration of Portugal the better. Even a trip to a restaurant for dinner would be entertaining!!!

Had the same idea 30 years ago as family village is 5mins from Obidos, but life got in the way!! Great idea some amazing rides all around that area and no shortage of coffe stops!.

Could play spot the difference against my fitness curve on Strava and we’d both be scratching our heads! I too, don’t completely trust that graph but I think it is generally quite indicative of your current ability.
Since the arrival of my baby and a spate of long term illness, my Strava fitness chart plummeted very similar to yours, it’s a very hard and demanding metric to get back up, shouldn’t be ignored but not something to set objectives to.

What a fantastic idea, I always bottled out of the faast crew rides but the idea of riding in Portugal sounds amazing but not sure I’d be able to keep up with you!!! We have wanted to visit Portugal for a while. Booked up this year but I would be interested for next year. Would have to be in school holiday time though. I can get a tattoo while I am there. Great video.

I would love to ride with you and see the beautiful Portugal landscapes. I wish I could say I'd be able to make it there this year from the U.S. but that's not possible. But if you did get this venture going, I'd definitely be looking at setting something up for late next year of early '26.

For Nazaré to have the big waves, it needs particular weather systems out in the Atlantic. Normally found in mid Winter. Check the surfing forecasts for predictions. And yes, São Martinho do Porto is pretty stunning. As is Foz do Arelho and Peniche and the rest of the coast!
Yeah I knew that I probably wasn’t going to be lucky… but that was the best day for me to do the ride so I just went for it and hoped! 🤣🙈

I like Nazaré, though the prices for coffee etc are a bit high there. Óbidos is also highly recommended. My brother has a house there, though he is selling it having just moved back to UK.
Yeah it’s a cool place… I’m definitely going to go back, hopefully with waves next time.

I wanna try 200-250km aswell 2-3 days fasted. I've bought my first racebike 12days ago and 4 days after i bought it i did 150km while i fasted 49h withouth training. I'm carnivore i wouldn't do it while depended on carbs 😅
