This is really the best game in the series. Right now on my island my fruit is pears. I got my tent and moving expenses paid off in the first day. On day 2 I went to the nooks to get my house. Beathers came to my island. I should have museum open tomorrow. Working with Timmy to get everything for the shop. All that martial is going to be a few days. On my third day now

these kinds of games bore me, so i don't get the appeal, but hey a lot of people dont find games like Dark Souls fun, which i do, so i get it, no judging.
I think my main issue is the whole "having to play during certain times to progress." Im busy, so i usually only have about a little over an hour to play at the same time every day. So I couldn't log in during the different time intervals to complete tasks and make progress. This game reminds me of sims or minecraft(which i don't find to be fun at all).

I can tolerate the whole one island thing, its fun for me and my girlfriend, but since only the first player can progress the game it really stagnates the game, for me I'm the second player and for me to progress eg. Tom nooks shop, i have to gather materials and then leave them outside for her, swap onto her account and then give the materials to tom nook, why cant both just do this?

Me and my gf were so excited for this game! We were talking about how cool it'd be to compare different designs of our islands and all... Only to find out we can only have one island per console... Feel like this is an issue a lot of families are going to face with siblings. Hope this gets talked about more and forces Nintendo to do something.

I really want to enjoy this game, I really do, but my sister and I just recently realized that the second player is severely limited in this game. Basically the first person who boots up the game is considered "in-charge" and the second player can't do anything important like building new structures or choosing where to build villagers' houses. This is such a massive oversight, or a scummy decision from Nintendo's part in order to sell more Switch consoles. Since I am the second player, my gaming experience will forever be limited since I can't even make my own island. This suuuucks soooo much and I hope Nintendo will patch this. Please speak up about this people!
While it does suck, it’s not the first time Nintendo has done this. If you look at Animal Crossing New Leaf, you’ll notice that any additional saves made after the first one are essentially just a normal resident who can’t do anything significant. I also don’t think that this feature will be changed, at least in this game, because it’s an “essential feature” and runs the risk of deleting the secondary player’s progress.

As a big and long time fan of Animal crossing, the best way to explain the game is that it's a life simulator. it keeps you occupied for a few hours a day. it teaches responsibility and money management

As he said, don't be put off by the slow start. This slower, limited start seems to be a new thing, but outside of that when you've unlocked more, you have more and more freedom to do what you like. It's a game you either love or hate, but it is unusually addictive! Also no one seems to be mentioning the other characters who are a big part of the game.

The whole Account thing was a let down but that’s how it’s always been for these games. My Fiancé is a huge Animal Crossing fan, and I’m a new comer. So last night when she got home from work she hopped on and I felt bad because of how limited it was for her. So today I had her go pick up a Switch Lite and a Physical Copy for herself. So we can still play together online and see each other’s Islands and get resources off each other. I would’ve just let her be the main player on our Switch but with this being my first Animal Crossing and loving it already I didn’t want to limit myself just like I didn’t want her to be limited. Aside from that though can’t wait to continue playing this throughout the seasons and events)

I’ve had the same problem! I played first and loved it, passed it over to my husband and it was so limiting he decided to stop playing. It’s upset both of us because we’ve looked forward to this game for so long.
Ya imo I think they will patch it to be able to have multiple save files so families can have more then one island or profile to play on one switch but it could very well be a business move as well to sell more switches.
The BlueBomber i dont think theyll patch it. Nintendo is stubborn and outdated when it comes to these things.

I’ve came up with a new idea that could be in the next game, multiple towns. So when your mayor. But you want a new town, but you just can’t get yourself to reset. You don’t want to leave Mitzi Chan. So you can have different towns! And while your gone, an animal of your choice can be co-mayor and take care of the town while your gone. So Mitzi Chan and I can be mayor together! And if you don’t want that town anymore, you can retire instead of resetting, I feel like “when you retire, your co-mayor will become mayor, your town will be in great hands! we will miss you!” is better than, “If you reset, all your townsfolk will be homeless and have no memories of you!”

It’s won’t be patched, these games to my knowledge have always been limited to one Island. Which does suck because it required me and my Fiancé to go out and buy another Switch. Being she’s a huge fan of these games it’s her favorite franchise and I’ve never played one until this one. I set up my island yesterday while she worked and she got home and hopped on her account till we realized that it was limited to one per switch which really limited her on what she could do and I didn’t wanna see that. I wanted to make sure she could get the full experience as well as me being this is my first one and I’m already loving it. Because I thought about just deleting the save and having her run make an island and me be the 2nd account user on the island but like I said with limitations I decided to just dish out and get ourselves a Lite. Plus it’ll be cool to be able to play together in a sense going to each other’s island, getting the different resources, etc.

I remember when i got new leaf as a kid having never played an animal crossing game before and it blew my mind with how much stuff there is to do. Theres still things i havent unlocked, and its definitely one of my favorite games to relax and play.

I’ve been having a lot of problems recently, I’ve been scared, sad, and overall stressed. Animal Crossing seems so helpful and therapeutic and I feel like it will help me get through these tough times. But of course god pisses on me as always and I have no money.

Multiplayer is absolutely not ok. Game is an amazing solo, but any additional people wanting to play either together or in turns are gonna be super disappointed. In normal animal crossing fashion, they continued to drag an outdated practice of saving the whole world save onto the console instead of just 1 user. Which makes it so other people wanting to play are forced to share an island in a first come first serve type style. the first player to set up the island gets admin privileges, and the first person to play on that day will be able to take all the resources before anyone else. Furthermore, the additional players cannot build bridges, new houses, ramps or basically anything of worth. Making the first player who booted it up to be significantly more important than any additional players. That programming method was accepted years ago because the systems at the time needed really needed smaller and more optimized games, but this is unacceptable in 2020, and especially on a stronger console so determined to promote itself as being family-oriented and pro multiplayer. Even online its really rough on what restrictions are in place for the person you invite. It also sucks to control materials as you cannot just select a few to take with you, but instead have to pick them out one by one or take the whole stack. there is no durability or pre-warning for tools breaking. And for some reason, you cannot use materials from your storage while you craft at home.
Honestly, I have been enjoying parts of the game a lot, which kind of covers up a lot of the bad. But this game needs a lot of work. I have always loved animal crossing, but another copy-paste game with the sole addition of mild crafting and Nook miles is not enough to overshadow all the cons of this game. A ton of fans, me included, were really hoping for something more, especially with how Nintendo altered the normal copy-paste style of the Zelda and Mario games onto the switch into amazing games. We expected them to take a newer and more fresh turn, throwing out the negatives from the past, and improving in unexpected and very pleasant ways. This game is relaxing and fun, but desperately needs quality of life improvements, as well as very very basic modern additions, such as the, save files and better online play, especially since a major part of this game is playing online and sharing fruits and furniture with others.
I absolutely recommend this game to everyone interested, but if your a parent buying this game so you children can play together/play on at a time, just know that one child will basically have no say what so ever on major aspects of this game. Furthermore in "split-screen" they won't even be able to control their own camera, and won't be able to actually harvest anything, as anything they do harvest will go toward player 1.
From an avid animal crossing fan, I thought a more accurate review was in order.
Ye. My household has stopped playing the game except for my brother who was the first person to play the game. 1 island per console is outdated. Limiting the second player on a shared island is outdated. I hope the single players are having fun tho!
I am literally so pissed about this. My fiancé surprised me with the game, and it is mine. I am the first player. But I am sincerely disappointed, I made a character for my seven year old son only to find out he basically can’t do anything at all! I truly hope that they fix this

Okay so my wife and i got the game, and Yes the same island rule is mad outdated and lame, but even with it we managed to workout "okay today i get trees, you get rocks, fossils ect" And though annoying its whatever. sure, we will divide the resources. BUT WHY. WHY give the first person to create the Char all the rights for town choices. As the "player 2" I can't Move residents homes, Move shops, Move museum or infastructure, Take down bridges or roads, Or build bridges or roads, I wasn't able to help build the shop, Start the museum. NOTHING.
Even the follow-the-leader style multiplayer i could deal with. But seriously????Limiting the single player expereince of player 2 as well????
Yes thank you! I was just telling my wife about this. She bought it for me to play with her and I was telling her there needs to be allot more on the multiplayer aspect as well as things to do on island. Maybe visit more islands frequently for free? I live in a damn island (Okinawa) and here we can at least take a ferry to like 5 different islands near me.
The one town per console has always been the animal crossing way, pretty sure it was the same on Wii
CPT 01 RC it used to be you could insert a save card or a second game and start your own island but the switch saves directly to console so there is no options for a new island at all, where there used to be a work around

Animal crossing was the first ever game I played, it lead on to 13 more years of gaming and I’ve never really been back ever since, I recently pick up one as a Easter present from my family and I haven’t played it but I am really excited to play it as it has been 13 years since I last played.

I am a pokemaniac. I have never played animal crossing in my whole life. But I think I'm sold. This looks to be just the game I was looking for. Something casual, yet gives me a sense of accomplishment. This will be my first animal crossing game ever. I'm excited!
