I have been watching the foldable market closely, as I'm planning on buying one within the next 6 months (I presently use a Poco F3).
I've used many OnePlus handsets & I'm always happy with them. My last was the OP Nord.
However at work speaking with colleagues many haven't even heard of OnePlus. (But strangely enough have heard of Oppo's budget end) Granted they ain't so much of a tech nerd as me, but "best" to them is usually 1) what they can afford & 2) easily accessible to buy.
Unfortunately OnePlus doesn't have the marketing budget etc to get it out to the masses. Nearly all my work friends buy via their networks so enviably they'll end up with a Samsung Fold. (As OnePlus is rarely seen among network stock offerings)
As we all know, not everyone has £1600 to pull out all at once (especially atm) so unless the Open becomes available on one of the UK networks "the best" for them will be the Samsung fold sadly.
I really like what the Open has brought to the table, but like you said the price is a bit high for a brand many people (normy non techy types) have never heard of.
Will I be buying one? - YES, unless something drops even better in the next 6 months!
Thanks for the review, my best 👍

People seem to forget that it's not the first generation. Oppo did all the work, with the Find 1, 2, and now 3 (OnePlus Open). But I'm happy that we in Europe and the US can now buy it as well. Which I did yesterday (Emerald Dusk).

In fact, Oppo did lay the groundwork for the foldables with the N1 and N2. However, development teams from both Oneplus and Oppo did legitimately collaborate to develop this device. Normally, I would prefer that the two brands stay separate but, I think they did a fine job in this case.

They will give me exactly what I paid for my phone over a year ago. I just might have to [pull the trigger. Lol. MKBHD dead pixels after only 3 weeks does sound some alarms though. I like the open canvas. It is a refreshing way for multi-tasking. But that alone does not make a good software and definitely cannot compensate the main problem with this foldable. In case of book-style fioldables the main screen is the inner screen. And Open's main screen is quarish. The users of book-style foldables want a tablet that can be folded. A squarish screen is not a good tablet screen and will ruin your experience. Anyone who wants to use 90% of time the cover screen should simply go for a slab phone, otherwise you will be disappointed heavily. Currently, there are only two foldables with an acceptable taBLET-FORM main screen:Z Fold and Pixel Fold.

I noticed no one mentions the dimming issue with HDR videos in the TH-cam app. The phone weirdly dims until you do something like raise the volume or pull down the notification shade. Once that input ends, it dims the video again. Side by side, the google pixel fold is brighter when watching HDR content. Hoping one plus will patch a fix soon or I’ll probably return the device.

I’m SOOOOO Tempted! And I’m so hesitant! lol
I’m deeply invested in Apple products and accessories. Other reviewers have shown various hardware issues and mentioned that Google pay wasn’t working. Yes, they are preproduction units. But even though it doesn’t fill me with confidence.
I know it wouldn’t work with my Apple Watch.
And it’s not exactly cheap. It’s a really big decision. I haven’t been this tempted by any foldable that has come out.

Koukněte na 1:40 v otevřeném stavu a 1:45 v zavřeném stavu. Přijdete o dost slušný úhel pohledu, kdy vás ostatní vidí a vy je neuvidíte. Jinak zpracování vypadá skvěle, je to slušný pokrok. @AndrewUKLondon 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@aceani the v60 has a 6.8" screenz more than good enough for TH-cam, iplayer etc. And I have an iPad mini 6, the best tablet I've had- android, apple or windows, brilliant for using a full length stencil (I didn't like the shorter styluses on my previous Samsung Notes).
When I'm out and about I mostly want a thin "slab of a phone". Being able to add a second screen, turning it into a mini laptop is fantastically flexible. For example making notes on one screen with a website , book or something on the other screen. I can use it as a mini laptop, as a book layout, folded flat as a screen cover or fully rotated. And that second screen can be customised eg as a games controller. Either of the screens can be turned off independently. And if I want uktra slim I just slip off the second screen.
With and SD card slot and 3.5mm headphone socket, all for £650 I could buy a laptop as well and still spend less than on certain fold phones.
