I love how these tear down videos are getting more and more destructive over time with no chance of survival
If the smartphones are built this way, that they get destroyed its on the companies. Zack just opens the smartphones :)
@@TobiasDettingeri mean the inside fold display breaking was fine but the outer display could have survived for sure

This has to be the first teardown video that made me say anything aloud in response to the destruction. Seeing the razor go into that screen had me feeling all sorts of “uh oh” 😂

its amazing how every tiny piece has to be engineered and built …. like the small springs or every tiny screw or carbon bit… WOW amazing how all products exist!!
yeah that is one of the greatest virtue of knowledge sharing, on our own 99% of people cant make screws but just buy them, so yeah, we should be thankful of the people what actually get work done here
We have the creator god
I often think about if we had no smart people we would all be hunting animals with bow and arrows still. Industrialization. We don’t know how to build phones, cars, infrastructure, cell phone towers, etc..
If apple used titanium screws and marketed their phone for using titanium, the world would be on fire.
Nah. Apple fans would still praise it. Besides using titanium in mobile devices is far from new. Apple didn't do it first. They are just the first to market it as if its some sort of new innovation.
@@chtmApple fans won’t care at all wtf are you talking about? 😂
@JerryRigEverything he also on fire..
BUT If other companies do it, it is a brilliant of marketing
@@chris_bmw6917 Yeah this was my first thought as well. If apple did this everyone would be all over them how they are cheating the public. Jerry even did a video checking just how much titanium is in the iPhone. I hate how this channel has become so against anything apple like everything they do is bad and meant to hurt the user and everything another company is great and innovative.
Rightfully so, apple is a trillion dollar company and is known for false advertising a lot and hyping up normal things. OnePlus is nothing compared to apple is just riding the hypetrain apple created. Remember apple takes simple software features from android like widgets and makes a whole ios version out of those while claiming to be the best 😂
As an owner of a fold, i gotta say watching you peel off the screens made me feel ways I didn't want to feel. You sir are unhinged.... but I should have known that by now.
Great work!
pun intended?
Like seeing a nun get her robe thing stuck over her head for a prank but by the "slowest" bully in school. Every kid unfortunately looking in that direction all swear to this day, they saw a thong but they also immediately all went blind so...
its just a phone relax
Zack isn’t the only thing unhinged in this video
Seeing Zach deconstruct the OnePlus fold phone makes me want to see the phone being produced at OnePlus. I know would not be possible to protect intellectual processes but would be interesting. Thanks for the interesting video!
Mrmobile covered it. Check that video out
Or watch this video on reverse
Honor shipped him their Magic V2 deconstructed, so he could build it himself [ FINE! - I'll build my own Folding Phone! ].
It's a good inside look at the folding phone space, if more manufacturers were to collaborate with tech channels in such a way, it could help repair shops all around and even help the home DIYer's who just want to keep their tech out the landfill a bit longer.
@@Deja117 Excellent move by Honor!!
@@Deja117Good idea but that's exactly what these phone companies don't want to happen. Unofficial repairers and DIY's are their #1 enemy because they can fix our phones and replace the battery, which would make buying a new one instead pointless. A law in Europe and the UK is soon to be put in place where all phone companies don't have a choice, every mobile has to be entirely fixable and replaceable from home including batteries. Bad for them but so much better for us and way more importantly it's the option for not adding to our waste unnecessarily.
These videos have saved me from buying the wrong phone many times over the years. Thank you!

An added benefit of using recycled cardboard packaging vs. plastic is that it is absorbent. Useful for, say, absorbing blood when you accidentally slice your finger while presenting your JerryRig Razor Knife™️ to your friends, family, or TH-cam audience.
Just a thought for future tests before you pull the phones apart. Make a TH-cam playlist with like 10 or 20 hours of videos. Fully charge the phone, and then start the playlist and see how long the phone will play videos before shutting down. On a phone like this, do the test twice, once with just the small screen, and again with the full size screen. Set brightness to like 50%. Of course, it would also be interesting in see the test with the phone on minimum brightness, and again on full; but just once at 50% would be good.
You know what would be cool but also very tedious to make and expensive to produce? The tear down phone case skins but you have it somehow printed in layers staring each of the large groups of the components giving it a great parallax effect
Just ordered myself one your knifes Zack, genuinely can't wait 👍💪
I have repaired 4 of these at work and it's a nightmare 😭
The inside of that phone was actually pretty
If you weren't doing so much already, having safe tear-downs for phones from you would be so good. I recently replaced a USB-C port and battery for a Pixel 2 XL, and the guide was OK, but watching you rip these things down while explaining it just feels so much better. Granted, I'm not sure your devices are always in good tear-down condition after the durability testing, and who wants to pay for multiple phones, especially when the manufacturers and retailers do not want us fixing and keeping our phones past 1-2 years.
Hey zack after watching your 15 pro titanium durability test after i saw how it broke so easy you changed my mind to go to with the 15 instead of
This has to be the most beautiful teardown video of any smartphone that I’ve ever seen 😍
This was rough to watch but cool to see 😎, even knowing I’ll never own this device it still hurts 😅
Ever tried taking the damaged phones to the service centre and ask them if this is repairable or not.....would be nice seeing their reactions....
To remove batteries without pull tabs, it's usually possible to use a suction cup to pull up on the battery after the alcohol step. Reduces the flex of trying to pry the battery out.
Strange thing that in USA, you use thoose blades. In Hungary we use simmilar, but you can break down 10 times the blade. After every break its sharp as new.
I'v asked this before. Is it possible to have just the middle "folding part" made of plastic and the rest made of glass so that you can still have a more scratch resistant screen.
It probably couldn’t be one entire piece
It might be one day but as all know glass is glass and it breaks and scratches at level 6 and deeper at 7
I prefer all plastic, it doesn't shatter like glass. Screen protector on it does fine to prevent scratches.
The joining border of glass and plastic will be too obvious, specially after a lot of folds where that very border will be the main failing point. You could make it sure. Just layer the extra thin screen with thicker glass on the non-folding area, but it will not be seamless.
I'll say it again, I'm perfectly fine if Microsoft came out with a surface duo 3 or update it to surface trio and have three glass screens (1 out + 2 in) with the smallest gap they can manage on the inside. That to me would be the best folding phone in terms of strength and actually long term usability. I don't need a continuous screen made of plastic, but two close screens would work well enough like the big multiplex screens you see at football stadiums.
Hey Zack, I really wanted to buy a knife for myself to support you, but I live in Europe and use Euros and I couldn’t find any place where I could buy your product. Is there a way I could purchase a knife without a third-party?
It is amazing how Zack can make anything look elegant ❤
9:57 That's a Nice amount of components
That was one of the most violent teardowns you have ever made 😆
Hey @JerryRigEverything, think since you have a "partnership" with Dbrand. You can request them to produce the teardown, leather, and other skin varieties for the OnePlus Open? I am quite surprised it hasn't been produced as of yet, especially with you doing a video on this devices teardown and the popularity it has gained.
OnePlus 11 too, please. I really want a teardown skin for mine
Zack, hope to see teardown video on Nubia Red Magic 9. It has a built-in active cooling fan.

I'm just glad the ui running in that phone isn't developed enough to understand what's happening to it's body.
Imagine one of the "AI" assistants on phone starts screaming.
Screaming is fine. It’s when it starts moaning that you should be concerned.

Most counties have restrictions on what can be sold or send by carrier in relation to knives, craft knives and blades, normally its the receiver who would be wrong importing such items.
The ogre reference was fire 🔥 😂
Really curious - does UTG actually do anything except provide another point of failure on the display? They still feel just as plasticy as the 1st gen.
This was a pure joy to watch! I opted for the fold 5 but im thinking i may have made a mistake 😅
Turning phone teardowns into a stand-up comedy show - where the only thing more broken than the devices is my sense of humor!!
Good choice! I've been waiting for this teardown. I got the Fold 5 as my first Fold, but this is nice too. I just like the software on Samsungs

You need to freeze those foldables, too. Because then you see that those screens crack really easy buy unfolding it
Was wondering what do you do with all the broken phones?
Honest question:
You claim to avoid plastic in your shipments to prevent long-term environmental impact. However, wouldn’t frequently discarding phones eventually create more harm? How do you address this issue?
He usually assembles them back. This phone is one of the few that broke
He tries to use his phones to the ground. As for the ones he showcase, he keeps them in his drawer plus it's done to showcase the tech inside
And to test the durability of the phones
Regarding the durability test, at 3:22 you can see some fairly obvious impact marks. Not dust, at least not in the area that appears to have suffered the worst.
Hey Jerry! I am wondering if you can bring a video on the topic of the best and innovative tech products including/excluding smartphones. Just an idea
I’m very curious how carbon nanotube/graphene displays will handle your knife, once they can be manufactured in bulk from renewable materials⏰
This seems best foldable engineering 😊
You know ironically enough it was your videos where I first said I would never buy another iPhone and yet it was your videos that helped me decide to switch to the iPhone 15 pro max. The back glass breaking didn’t bother me because you had to use some decent force to break it. I’m still very happy with it.
Casetify pausing the video so they can get a good screenshot of the phones internals before the Easter eggs get put in! 😂
This was the best teardown on this channel till date. Maybe OnePlus folds teardown curiosity and jerry's expertise made this combination best .
I'd be interested to know what the weight of the screws are? Do they possibly actually have MORE titanium in their phone than Apple? Cause that's kinda funny.
Same type of razors are $6 to $8 at Home Depot or Lowes. This guy Zack is a real salesman these days, even has people buying dirt in a jar. 🙄😮💨
So.......how durable are those titanium screws? Do they get stripped as easily as the regular screws sometimes used in products?
