    I have a silver xf portfolio 2.2d with cream interior and it is probably the best car I have ever had

    Let me tell you all a little secret - the xf 2.2 diesel is the single most reliable diesel car you can buy. No bmw or audi or even Japanese diesel comes near. Speaking from experience. The handling, drive dynamics all are beyond comparison....

      @DaleSteel ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong actually. The 2.2d in the x type was more reliable. It is the old transit engine. The 2 2d jn the XF however was worked on by psa. They made it weaker by removing the timing chain for a belt. However it is still a very good engine just not as good as the the x type

    I compete agree with you with modern cars being to easy to drive. I am learning to drive at the moment and the car I am learning to drive in is too easy to drive. I like something that has a bit more character like an old car

    I've got the fuddy daddy x type estate. Got the best engine ever. The 2.2d transit engine with 6 speed auto. Divine. Unbreakable.

    I like the look , like most jags are good looking, it does remind me of a mk5 Mondeo, I’m sure jag/LR will deny any connection of design

      well, that's history now. ford sold it to tata motors back in 2008, so it is not like that jag which shared stuff with mondeo. they maybe have deals with ford for some diesels, I didn't investigate that, but it can't be more than just that.

    yeah, it's nice interior as we expect in executive car class, but apart from the attempt of modernising traditional grill, it really could be any german car, opel or ford or whatever. every insignia has more imaginative rear end than this, especially new one and the headlights are really just another bmw. how they allowed these into production, I can't understand, it's too much like some local chinese copy of bmw....if english people put aside the patriotic bias, that's the real truth behind the looks of this car.
    p.s. we needed your height to perceive legroom better. I see you are not a small man, but I don't know how tall you are ;)

    • @ProjectNigel
      @ProjectNigel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You make some very good points. To me it really is the interior that feels special more than anything else. 6'

      @@ProjectNigel thanks.
      yeah, it is certainly better than bmw's sterile enviroment and audi isn't much better. I think later high end mercs have nice interiors.
      considering your height, the car could have inch or two more space inside.

      I'm glad they "allowed these into production" as it's my most beautiful car out of 10 cars I've owned.

    Just bought a 2013 XF (US) I love it. Even in 2024, the air event motors are all in working order. Quite surprised honestly.

    Followed Nigel from the start....and am a former 820 Vittess, MG ZS, Rover 75 owner but now own a Jag XF 2.2 LE Sport (4 1/2 years).
    They are fantastic.
    The best car I have ever owned (tho not my favourite....that's my Ford Capri 2.8i).

  • @AliMackMechanical

    They are nice car's but as you say it's just a big ford. I do like some of features thought. I like the buttons I like the dash 8 speed auto box wow I do like the 2.2 Tdci engine it has been around for a few years but it's extremely reliable. 👍

      I used to have an XJ6 3.2, which did look proper Jag. It was lovely, but also cramped and heavy on fuel

    • @flibbertigibbet6200
      @flibbertigibbet6200 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It has next to nothing to do with ford that was the old platform. The engine is a Ford/psa but Jag refined it and tuned it how they wanted.

    I am really torn on the modern Jags which is why ive watched this video twice haha! Its not often i like modern cars but i really like the look of the XF granted they are essentially a Ford underneath but then again so was the XK8 and i loved the look of them back in the 90s. Watching your video has only confirmed this however the box is drawing me in and the leather and walnut interior is exactly what i need in my life. It reminds me of my beloved Rovers I think when the last remenants of my fleet kick the bucket and i am forced into the modern car market a Jag may be my next purchase.

    • @ProjectNigel

      It only occurred to me today that had Rover still been around the 75 would be completing with this, and it's quite a long way behind.

    • @zsb707

      The XF is not a Ford underneath. The X-type used to be.

    You are obviously dazzled by the brand name. Not objective enough for a car review. It's amusing you present it as something special but it's uncleaned and the boot full of rubbish haha. In reality the 3.0 litre engine is far better and has almost the same economy as the 2.2 diesel and similar used price to buy. Yet the power is addictive and in Portfolio spec far better
