- I had some fun with the 2024 3.0 LZ0 equipped Silverado ZR2 on Bonneville salt flats. We will discuss the cleanup at a later date but this was a blast !!! Banks idash Datamonster recorded the data and it was viewed via their datalogviewer site. Results shown in the video. Traction was limited but that was the only worry with the salt flats being mostly ours to play on !

My Zr2 is governed at 98
23 AT4 LzO on track hit 114 and didn’t hit the limiter
LM2 RST model with z71 limited to 106
I put the sprinkler under my truck after a run on a salty beach. Keep the water on low for about 10 minutes and keep moving it.
4wAuto is the launch answer.
My 23’ with max tow is limited to 98 also. But put it in 4WD , TC off and sport mode. Brake torque it to 2500rpm. The truck will chirp all 4 and launch ridiculously hard for a big truck. Sadly most off road models do not have sport mode. So they have very lazy shifts.
I saw 107 in my 2020 AT4 out in South Dakota while passing someone....no problem, didn't even have it floored.
I was only floored to get up to speed the quickest, but the AT4 must have higher rated tires.
I’ve taken my ZR2 to Firebird Raceway here in Boise and drag raced it. I had it in 4wd hi, traction control completely disabled, and brake boosted. The best I’ve had was 15.617 at 87.05. The tires do seem to be the weak link in few ways (including towing in my opinion) for this truck. I wish I would have had dragy to capture more data points. I hope that we see some tuning upgrades in the near future, especially with the Chevron deference getting overturned. I love this truck, but I feel like there’s a lot more power available.
soon. I am hearing early next year.
@@DemonWorks that’s a big improvement from the indefinite time line we’ve been getting.
I got a 15.90 at 88.43 in my LM2 Z71 on highway tires. But 6000+ ft da.
Do you have a speed limiter set on in the settings? Mine cut out at 115
No, just the way it comes from the factory. It cannot safely go above what the factory tire is rated for, and the ZR2 is rated quite low.
2023 sierra denail LZ0 and gov is 112 throws up warning message on dash limit reached 10th gear 100 and 2200-2300 rpm only so lots left in her
Noticed you weren’t in sports mode but normal mode. Does the ZR2 have a sports mode setting? I have the RST and mine has sports mode and I can go faster than 100mph. Not 100% sure where it cuts out at but I’ve had it to 103 in normal mode.
It does have sport mode and that will just alter the throttle pedal and shift points. it won't remove the speed limiter. For the ZR2, it is limited to the speed rating on the tires, which was 100mph. The manufacturer cannot put the driver into a safety risk. Other models have different tires and have a higher speed limiter.
My 2022.5 lm2 2wd elevation is limited at 98 mph.
I thought the driveshaft is the concerning factor on these for high speeds
A couple different factors, for the ZR2 it looks like it's the tires.
Besides it being hot, why didn't you turn off the AC?
That wouldn't have changed my top speed nor was I trying to set any records.
My 23 elevation is limited to 115
My 21 z71 governor kicks in about 112
Why wouldn't you put in Auto 4WD? I get you don't get full performance in 4Hi.... but Auto would give you the traction you need to launch.
I wasn't trying to set any drag racing records, so I didn't feel the need to go into 4wd or auto out there
Check your air filter after that ¡
Did you have it in 4WD?
2wd
@@DemonWorks Why didn’t you run it in 4WD if you were trying to go from a dig?
@@dustinwalden7091 I needed to make sure I can make it home. I knew I wasn't going to break any records out there.
i hit 101+ on rst ? 2022.5 lm2
they are all different, depends on tires and how it's equipped.
Make sure you clean the hell out of the truck after this
I'm roughly 4 hours of rinsing and cleaning into it over the course of two days and a few more days planned as well as salt neutralizer spray. Good Looking out !
I'm from the rust belt and this was the very first thing that crossed my mind lol
Top speed on my stock 23 1500 AT4- CarbonPro Edition 3L, top speed is 96 lol
I didn't think anything that would be slower aside from a Geo Metro.
4wd 140
@@jrl7745 on 100mph rated tires ?!
That's pathetic
Software update to enable speed limiting
Needs a higher speed rated tire from the factory
