    the lexus' have the numbers and they tell you the size of the engine from it. the 300's have a 3.0 liter. This one was the 1MZ. A personal favorite. The next gen had the ES330 3.3 liter and then the ES350.

    That little knob to the right of the obd port is the lock confirmation chirp volume in case anyone is wondering. This model year doesn't have the Tpms reset button there yet.
    The hard part about this engine (98-01 for the ES) is the drive cycle is difficult. It needs speeds of 50mph and also varying speeds of 35 or so and also a pressure test by revving while in park. There is a drive cycle procedure available online in a TSB released by Toyota. We could not get the vehicle to clear the incompletes in the monitors after scanner reset until we followed the TSB.

      I saw that. I was thinking it was the TPMS reset. The chirp volume could get annoying. I have one of Toyota's first attempt of a TPMS in my 08 Tundra. It didn't take long for the low pressure indicator to come on. Had it checked out a few times. They think it is the receiver. I just drive with the indicator illuminated. All Tundra's door lock range is maybe 50 ft. I can hear the solenoids engage. No need for a chirp. LoL My IS300, the wife's RX300 and her new RX350 had a range of a couple hundred feet.

    You made that look so easy. I noticed the belt molding is missing chunks. Rain will get in the door. The window control on the drivers door is mega expensive. You guys get all the rain, snow and salty roads. The belts are reasonably priced and easy to change. The speaker can be compromised too. You mentioned the radio. I would swap it out just for hands free driving. Safety and not making an officer write a ticket. I would take that car to a detailer. 90k is the break in for Lexus. That car could be your next cream puff. I hope to see more of that car.

      I believe this is an owner car. Not his. Might be an elderly person who doesn't care the age of the vehicle and uses it as a grocery getter.

    Great job Peter, but i personally would have checked out a secondhand sensor, it's got to be a rare occurrence for it to fail. Perhaps ebay, or a car breakers, plenty of Corolla's of that year in there by now 😁👍

      With a MSRP of $357.57 I would make a few phone calls too. LoL. I never pay MSRP. I might even consider aftermarket.

    Hope this is not too late but if you still have the vehicle for other things and not bled it fully yet, is there the bleeder bolt somewhere on the block or highest point in the cooling system? I forget if it is the 1MZ or 5S but there was a very large bolt like 14mm or something very funny used to bleed it. Good thing about this engine is it's the last of the non-interference engines. If the belt breaks or jumps time, the engine will just stop. No valves will be damaged from piston head kiss.

    Is there a V6 Toyota engine that can be converted to rear drive. My 88 Camry would get a consistent 34 MPG. Much better than the Tacoma today. My 2002 Tundra get 13 MPG city.

    • @Esteban_Herrera
      @Esteban_Herrera ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find it ironic that with today's electronic fuel management system, lighter aluminum engines, tighter tolerances, better fuel, lighter aluminum wheels that I could get better fuel Economy in a 55 Chevy. Thats 68 years . Take 68 and divide by 5 years. If they improved gas milage by 1 gallon every 5 years to today, your 2002 Tundra would be getting 26 miles to the gallon. They aren't fooling this old guy.

    Hello sr, I hope you can help me with a concern I have... I am in Mexico and currently I am selling my Toyota Corolla 2006, the prospective client wants to see the VIN number stamped in the chassis, do you know where could it be located at? We already checked the ones under the windshield and the driver's door but he wants to see it in the chassis :(
