    I am 24 years old and began trapping with my father for the first time just two years ago. Learned general trapping basics from my father who grew up trapping as a kid. I immediately fell in love with not only the physical and mental aspects of it, but the history and heritage of it as well.
    Did not run a line last year, but this year I am now 4 days into the season of running a trap line over hundreds of acres of PA farm land. Targeted cyotes and coon my first year (two years ago) at the end of the season where snow made a major impact on my success. I am currently skinning, fleshing, and boarding everything that I catch and simply cannot believe the work and effort that it takes to be a successful and responsible trapper. I have caught 10 raccoon, a red fox, and now a skunk. All of which were caught for the first time by myself.
    Thank you for your informative videos for they help immensely and I would also like to thank my father and the trapping community as a whole for the support through my journey as a new trapper. I wouldn't be where I am at without you guys.

    I've seen lots of videos on skinning and fleshing, and I even bought a DVD showing a well known professional trapper on how to put up fur. Your videos are by far the most informative and in depth that I have seen. I've been looking at the comments, watching for any negative remarks and everybody is positive and just as amazed as I am. We need more people interested in trapping and this is just the thing they should see. Keep up the great work! By the way, could you give us totals on your fur catch this year? Thanks!

    I have said this many times but I deleted my channel so my comments are all gone but you have the best fur handling videos on youtube. I have watched your videos for years. You have taught me everything I know about putting up fur and the whole reason I put up fur. Keep it up brother thanks for all the great info youve shared over the years.

    You sure have yourself set up as far as equipment. To me the most valuable is the fleshing beam. This really is key to fleshing the animal correctly and efficiently. Not sure who taught you all this but am so impressed! (I don't think I've seen a better fur handler)

    If I wanted to make my own wooden stretcher. .. does it matter if it's bass wood, pine, ect? Do you recommend putting certain fur on certain wood? Does it even matter? Keep the videos coming.

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors
      @CoonCreekOutdoors  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luke Leonard any wood will do. basswood is ideal because of its softness and lack of knots. that being i use alot of pine boards because they are readily available. basswood is hard to find in my area

    Dumb question. What do you do with the carcass when you're done skinning it? Do you just haul them into the woods and dump them or is there a value somewhere somehow? I know farm animals around here are taken to a rendering plant where they're turned into dog food - was wondering if that's a thing for these as well.

    What do you do with the animals that have skin problems? One of the raccoons in the beginning looked like it had a pink rash on it. Yesterday I trapped my first fox (the one in my pic) which was awesome but soon enough I realized he had no fur on his tail and it looked like he had leprosy because from his tail to his hind legs his skin was rotting. Pretty sad. There's no way I was keeping that fur.

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors
      @CoonCreekOutdoors  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      UrbanHunterz never really had any problems with the skin. the red is just a little blood that got transferred from my apron. mange is a different thing entirely
