I didn't go through a situation like this but I tried dating two different single mothers. One cheated with the child's father and ended up getting pregnant again. The second one lied during the dating phase dating she was single but was in fact married to the father of her kids. Moral is I'll never date a single mother again.

as someone who's worked customer service, the server is in the complete wrong. he says no several times, she can't just pack some stranger's bill on him because she's all about girlbossing or whatever. her job is to stand by until the two come to a decision, not butt in and make it for them. it's bad customer service and blackmail. i'd report her to her boss. Long Edit: so a war started in the comments and i'll address this point: "she wanted more money". unfortunately, she just all but assured she wouldn't get any tips. if mr.late-by-an-hour-and-a-half has the bill packed on him, that'll be a sure 0% and forever lost customer. broke karen over there sure as hell isn't giving any tips, considering she was banking on him paying - and you get no say in how much tips to give if you don't pay yourself. she might not even return either. the server will make no extra money based on how many meals she gets orders for, she has her salary and tips. so that's two customers lost, two customers who don't tip, and possibly a steak she'll have to pay for herself. i definitely think this is the US based on the accents, making it extra confusing as to why the server is acting like this. i guess she doesn't feel like paying rent this month.

I can’t decide what enraged me more: the girl CHOOSING to wait 90 mins for a first date just to justify making the guy pay for more food (haven’t seen kids, I bet the food is for her), the waitress hearing the guy say no multiple times but ordering the food anyway, or the nobody diners that feel the girl is justified in doing whatever she pleases cause she decided to inconvenience herself (but he did also ask them when they weren’t involved so may have been trolling). This looks like a scam I heard about. Sometimes when traveling abroad, a woman might be very nice and very insistent that you go to a certain restaurant with her, and if you do, the restaurant rises the price of the food (because the woman know the restaurant owners) and then threatens to call the cops if you don't pay because you already ate the food. Last thing you want when traveling abroad is dealing with cops, so you pay. It looks like she's doing something similar. The waitress is on her side most likely because they are friends. I went through a similar situation like this. I wasn’t late to the date, but i was at Olive Garden with a woman i was dating at the time so i paid for myself, her, and her son’s meal which was fine but what made it bad was when i was about to get the check, she says to put another meal down to go on the check and i stopped the waiter and and asked who the other meal was for. She told me this was for her friend because she was hungry and i asked did she give you money for it, and she says no expecting me to pay for her grown ass friend’s food. I told the waiter no I’m paying for the food and paying for what we had. Needless to say, it was a quiet ride home and we stopped talking after that night.

The guy isn't the greatest communicator. He tells the kitchen staff he's "not paying for that...not my kids" and they're probably thinking "WTF is he talking about?" Same problem with the other patrons he spoke to. He gave no context. He should have asked for the manager, explained the situation and tell them he will not be paying for extra food, or square up the bill for the two meals, leave a tip (away from the table she' sitting at) and leave the restaurant. as someone who's worked customer service, the server is in the complete wrong. he says no several times, she can't just pack some stranger's bill on him because she's all about girlbossing or whatever. her job is to stand by until the two come to a decision, not butt in and make it for them. it's bad customer service and blackmail. i'd report her to her boss.

Sometimes when traveling abroad, a woman might be very nice and very insistent that you go to a certain restaurant with her, and if you do, the restaurant rises the price of the food (because the woman know the restaurant owners) and then threatens to call the cops if you don't pay because you already ate the food. Last thing you want when traveling abroad is dealing with cops, so you pay.

Her request is unreasonable because he's not on a date with her and her kids. He basically just met her. He hasn't even seen the kids. For all he knows, she might be taking the extra food home herself. Like, who orders a steak for their kid? Pretty sure the kids would rather some cheap chicken nuggets, not two steak dinners. Of course, we'll never know the full story but because she was confident about it, it makes it seem like normally she asks for some extra food for her kids on a date (which would still be a scam because that means she's tricking someone into paying more money than they expected to pay) but this time she decided to push her luck and ask for two extra steak dinners because he was late.
So cringeworthy... She is so entitled, and so low quality... Just pay for your own meal, man, and leave...

Its very clear she just wanted her food paid for. Who the hell waits 1.5 hours?! I'm unsure if he gave her a heads up that he was running late but if I was on a date and 15 minutes passed without a text/call with a quick explaination for the tardiness; I would question things.
At the 30 minute mark I would have assumed I was ghosted and left. He absolutely was an a$$ for being that late but he offered to take her out again to another restaurant as an apology. She decided to force this guy to get food for her kids and he righfully said no. Nope, bye felicia.

I went through a similar situation like this. I wasn’t late to the date, but i was at Olive Garden with a woman i was dating at the time so i paid for myself, her, and her son’s meal which was fine but what made it bad was when i was about to get the check, she says to put another meal down to go on the check and i stopped the waiter and and asked who the other meal was for. She told me this was for her friend because she was hungry and i asked did she give you money for it, and she says no expecting me to pay for her grown ass friend’s food. I told the waiter no I’m paying for the food and paying for what we had. Needless to say, it was a quiet ride home and we stopped talking after that night.

I can see both side of this. Like I see the girls side in how she's upset that she had to wait 1 1/2 hours for this man to get to the date, but then I see the man's side in that he was only there to pay for himself and his dates' food and not for her kids
The guy isn't the greatest communicator. He tells the kitchen staff he's "not paying for that...not my kids" and they're probably thinking "WTF is he talking about?" Same problem with the other patrons he spoke to. He gave no context. He should have asked for the manager, explained the situation and tell them he will not be paying for extra food, or square up the bill for the two meals, leave a tip (away from the table she' sitting at) and leave the restaurant. Plus, he stays there and does nothing but argue with her. Just leave already before she tells you you're going to pay her monthly child support!

I used to work as a waiter at a restaurant, normally what would happen if the order was cooked, then cancelled, I'd have to pay for it at the end of the day to make up the loss
Good thing is I could use my employee discount on it and take it home, so I had no issue with it.
