The reason for the price is due to the royalties with the Turok license, such as the comic. And for Night Dive to make back any money for this release at all. The developers had no say on the price tag.
I think those are in good hands: the first images of System Shock Remake are amazing, and a lot of Otherside Entertainment developers were on the original System Shock (and System Shock 2) team, so... I can see a bright future in front of us :D

What can I say? The perfect review and so damn spot on, it is a bit creepy. Turok is still a damn fun game and just listen to that pushing tribal soundtrack while slaughtering savages, shamans, mechs and dinosaurs never gets old. Just played the emu a few weeks back and it still kicks ass like the other classics of that time. Having watched the release steam by GOG on twitch yesterday, all the aspects mentioned are valid and were part of the interview with the developer alongside. The checkpoint or autosave function was also part of it and I must admit, we really are spoiled today. Also, shooting MORE soldiers to the face with the alien gun, watching them fly through the air by the detonation after the weaker impact, is nothing short of satisfying. Such perfect impact in the literal sense simply never gets old. I can't await to see how they turn Turk 2 into a game that doesn't suffer from fps drops left and right, they did a perfect job on this one. However, there is more than just the graphical improvement on the technical side, some sections have significant improvements making them a lot more interesting. For one, they replaced long canyon passages with more interesting things such as ruins, temples and the like and they removed these boring and lenghty passages that were pointless, for instance in the catacombs level. Praise heavens! Then again, the fog really adds to the overall atmosphere and really doesn't feel like a limitation at all. Oh, if you should have bought it on GOG and you should crash on falling down long distances, disable the galaxy thingy and launch it directly. The dev mentioned they are aware of it and already uploaded another built without galaxy support, so that should already be fixed. I agree with the price tag being a bit steep, but then again we saved so much on the bullshit Triple-A we got served this year and the next sale is soon to come as well, so... patience is a virtue.
+Bunker Knacker I never really experienced frame drops. Quite the passionate, at times it played too fast when the frame rate hit over 60. What bothered me the most, is the struggle to get music on Turok 2. Hopefully that will be fixed. Also, can we use Nglide with the remaster of Turok 1?
I played this game a million times. I could probably pick it up and go straight though and pick up every chronosceptor piece. It was the game that got me into gaming. The soundtrack is awesome. My dad used to love watching me play it too. All time greatest s.
The first four do! Turok: Evolution on the original Xbox had been my personal favorite. That one was really challenging and took me a long time to play through! While I like the Xbox 360 Turok alright it was the weakest.

AirCooledMan2006 As a dinosaur geek, I didn't really care. The dinosaurs were so badly modeled that it didn't "count" if you know what I mean. Like they didn't even try. If they actually tried to get it right and then fail I would be pissed, but they didn't so I take the dinos mostly as monsters to shoot.
One of my all-time favourite games. I still have my complete copy for N64. Never tried other versions, but this looks absolutely gorgeus. Funnily enough, I never really had much trouble with the dreaded platform sections. Enabling the map made the platforming a breeze for me.
I've got the N64 version and one of the most unique things about it aside from the game, you get a mini comic book that details a bit of backstory of not Tal-set, the original Turok, but that of Joshua Fireseed, being included inside the manual. Man, good times!!!
There are draw distance settings in the graphics options that totally disable the fog and let you see way farther ahead. Not sure if you just missed that or not, but the option is there for those wondering.
+Gggmanlives You're right. It's just that in your video review it seems like that option isn't enabled so I wasn't sure if you knew about that. Anyway great review, cheers!
+DrearierSpider1 Funny, South Park for the PC if you set the Draw Distance to high it goes far and wide. Why it isn't on here even though both are on the same engine baffles me.
I think the checkpoints, save points, lives & autosaves are part of the individual appeal of this game; it's an FPS with a lot of the design decisions of a classic 80s and early to mid 90s console game.
yeah the oldschool saving where you get set back and have to do everything again. i just started to play mortal kombat shaolin monks on ps2 again and there its the same. first time i got angry but now realized how much more skill and energy it requires to play these old games. and thats alot more fun thats why oldschool games where better
I love your reviews, I listen to them at work much like a podcast, the fact you can keep your reviews interesting through words to make them entertaining without visuals, is fantastic. Keep doing good work man, I hope your youtube career only expands from here.
Tenzing Khedup Not much with the original PC version aside from higher resoultion textures (the N64's texture budget was 32x32 bitmaps; I do believe the PC version's were twice that); it was probably just easier to rip assets from versus having to freaking reverse compile the ROM and shift through the files to get the low-rez textures and models from that version. The first PC version also had a 38FPS cap on it, mouse accel up the wazoo and no support for widescreen resolutions (even with nGlide, it's still rendered in a 4:3 aspect ratio).
I bought this and played through it when it was on sale for $10. It was a childhood game i couldnt beat because i didnt even understand the save mechanic. It was nice to go back to it and beat it
Hell yeah.. my dad had this game when I was little.. I ddnt understood it and i was kinda nervous and scared to play it so I only watched him.. I wanna play it so bad on the n64
+Salokin Sekwah I can play dis shit in my sleep even hard is easy when you play Brutal Doom at hardest difficulty while giving the enemies the advantage via in-game options on GZDoom.
It's crazy that he said that this game is not that much difference from the original. I guess he is not playing in 4k. And for your information you can extend the visual to eliminate the fog.
It's a great game! This is a perfect update too, because it looks like the game you remember through a nostalgia filter. It really only updates what needs to be updated imo. I can't wait for the Turok 2 port! :D
It really only updates what needs to be updated. So you don't think that the fog in front of you didn't need to be remove and the option to see things really far instead of in your face with fog didn't need to be updated? You are an easy person to pleased.
furrynick I think they moved the fog out plenty far enough. I wouldn't want it to be completely gone because I think it adds to the atmosphere of the jungle setting. Besides, people will probably end up modding it anyway. I agree that I would like the option to remove it, as well as add some HD textures, but I don't find it completely necessary.
I'm gonna wait for this and Turok 2 to go on sale. Turok 1 has mod support Turok 2 has many enhanced settings and multiplayer, which includes maps from the N64 version. Truly incredible stuff.
The fog is what made this game cool. I'm glad they didn't remove it. Look at the GTA San Andreas remaster, they removed the fog and it was a big mistake. The fog in Turok was not only useful for the devs, it was appropriate for the game's setting because it was a mysterious world. The fog contributed a lot to the atmosphere.
Oh man, major nostalgia trip seeing Turok 1 again. I remember picking that game up not long after the N64 released back in the mid 90s and I loved it. It's nice to see it get 'remaster' treatment, though I wish it'd get a console release too. Except for Ark and Primal Carnage, there's essentially no dinosaur fps games on consoles, especially ones that are single player focused. Great review Gggmanlives!
I remember playing Turok on the PC back in the day. It was one of the earliest games to release one of the ubiqitous "3Dfx-patches" for hardware graphics accelleration. I thought it looked fucking faantastic.
Played this game on the N64 along with the sequel Seeds of Evil back in the day. Someone here said that they wished the game be released for PC and im so glad the game has been remastered and released for PC. Got both games through Steam when they went at a discounted rate. Great review!
I didn't think there would be another video out so soon after the 2015 Retrospective, but I'm pleased to say I was wrong. Great job. :) "Worry no more, Sonny Jim". :D
A friend of mine an myself played Turok1 on PC in the 2guysOn1pc coop mode and managed to finish it, on, i believe, medium difficulty. He was doing all the mouse work and i was responsible for most of the keyboard inputs. This mode of shared and highly coordinated work made the game ridiculously mind numbing difficult, but also a great fun bonding experience. That's the kind of thing one can only really be doing when being young and obsessive. Good times.
As you can tell by my username, Turok has had a big impact on my life. I actually own the N64 copy, original windows copy, and this remaster as well. They all have their own unique advantages and disadvantages, but I can tell that this remaster is just amazing. The music is so good, but I won't lie that I turn it off and play the Mad Max Fury Road soundtrack via Spotify in the background (it adds an amazing feeling to the game). This remaster is definitely something for those who want quick, epic, challenging, and creative gameplay with modern swing. Turok is a prime example of what shooters are capable of, even with older technology. Its a shame though that modern shooters focus more on displaying their technology rather than putting it to use (not that there's really anything wrong with that if done correctly). If more modern games follow Turok's design style, and with their modern technologies, I believe we could have some really interesting games. Still is a shame that the reboot series was shot down though. The sequel to the 2008 reboot looked very promising. Hopefully this remaster will revitalize the audience.
Just bought this and Seeds of Evil remastered on Steam for ten bucks. Time to relive my childhood. Only this time I'll be playing instead of being forced to just watch my cousin kick dinosaur ass.
I really enjoy this game Just played it thru on my Switch docked Lvl 5 & Lvl 6 are classics One is claustrophobic, the other puckers your butt with heights Both are tense Looking forward to Seeds of Evil on Switch
Really happy about you having this video up so quickly, however you managed it great job. Wont expect it every time but this was a particular classic that I was really interested in, but its high price made me uncertain.
I paid €15 for this. But it was in a brief sale. I'm enjoying the game so far, and agree with a lot of what you said. The weapons are already very satisfying, and I haven't even got that many. FPSs seem to have lost sight of what they're really supposed to be about, these days.
+gilgamesh310 can't wait for Night Dive Studio to remaster turok 2. that game was big improvement over turok 1 IMO , freaking loved it. pc release can fix the main issues i had playing the original n64 version which is its choppy frame-rate and using n64 controller was kind of difficult to play the game(full pc controls tho will obviously fix that).
There is a command that disables fog completely, however, the reason they added fog is because you could see another area of the map, you WEREN'T supposed to see, for example, the "hub area" would have been visible from any map if you were to disable fog.
Man... I never played the first game. I only vaguely remember the sequel on PC. We played it all the time in multiplayer. I loved that brain bore weapon.
So I'm way late with this video. But, I missed Turok back in the day on N64; I played a ton of Goldeneye and Mario 64. I'm playing this version of Turok on the Switch and, hot damn is it fun. This game must have been incredible back I the late 90s.
I kind of would've liked to see the option for a few other touch ups (maybe a crosshair and fog removal) but honestly its really cool to see a game this old running at a modern resolution. Hope they remaster the rest of the series.
Gotta love Night Dive Studios. Gggmanlives, do you have any plans to review the other Turok titles? Night Dive is bringing Turok 2 to PC early 2016, but there's four (three if you don't count the 2008 reboot) other entries in the series after 2.
I had this game on N64 as a child and this game was HARD for me, I remember that fog and the weird ether feeling from the sound and fog and always dying from trying to jump
ggmanlives...if you havent made this video....I would never found out about you! Have to say you pretty much like games I like too :D and man...FPS games...my favourite genre :) so many reviews....its awesome, keep it up Sonny Jim! :D Also what about review of "Syndicate" game from 2012 ? Faaar from perfect but I loved its style and fun gunplay. ITS ALL ABOUT SLIDING! Well and since its christmas,,,,,I wish you happy holidays from czech republic :) thanks for doing these videos :) only found out about you few days ago...but you already making my days happier :) really enjoying your vids.
I'm glad to see this was re-released. I'd like to revisit it again and see if I can actually make it all the way through the game. I remember it, like the sequel, was confusing as hell and it was easy to get lost and lose interest. I'll probably grab it whenever it drops considerably on a sale, I do think $20 is a bit steep (considering I can just run out and get an original N64 copy for about five dollars).
At the time it was probably the only console game to beat any PC game to have that high number of weapons. Also this game even if not first have alternate ammo for a few of them like the bow and the shotguns. Yeah because this game have 2 shotguns (pump action and full auto) Also it was one of the very few ones to get an assault rifle and a minigun with a delayed fire. Also its weapons were fairly creative and wanted to show people this FPS have some BALLS I mean you can carry all that arsenal and kick so many ass with it. We have a knife who is surprisingly good if you compare to most FPS melee weapons of that era. A bow with two ammo types Three bullet weapons with pistol, assault rifle and minigun Two shotguns Three energy weapons consisting of a plasma rifle, particle accelerator and alien weapon (the two later one are probably the most novel of the bunch) Two explosive weapons with a grenade launcher and a rocket launcher that launches 4 rockets at once. Then the two ultimate guns with the fusion cannon and chronoscepter which are more or less nuke cannons. Also one detail is that we can get mortal wound masks and backpack as a character upgrade, however the backpack is lost if we loose a life and the backpack allows to carry more grenades shells and bullets from the AR, Pistol, shotguns and grenade launcher which helps a lot. One other thing is that enemy animations was great and the gore was quite funny with gallons of blood at times. I love to see grunts with their eye bleeding before collapsing and having actual dinosaurs to kill. None of the sequels had that part right ... And even if the 2008 version had some raptors, it was a major let down.
Great game. I was on the fence about buying for a while now but I bought it during the recent steam summer sale. This game is worth every penny. Great review. Subbed.
I'm not sure if you missed it or it was added in an update, but I recently bought this and started playing it. You can actually set the draw distance to high and there's no fog at all. You can see pretty much everything in the area.
Looking forward to replaying this, i don't think i ever completed it back on the N64. I also had it on the Doctor V64 and it was weird playing the different censored versions with green blood and or robots instead of people.
There was one change that I didn’t like in the game as they changed a section of the first level just after the first key but that is just a nitpick. This is an awesome game to play.
Downloaded it for the Nintendo switch thinking it was an old shitty game ported for no reason, I was super wrong, been playing it more than any other game I have.
I plan on getting the PS4 version of this remaster so I can relive my awesome childhood memories via playing Turok on the PS5, along with getting the remaster of Seeds of Evil.
the checkpoint/savesystem with the extralife system and pickups is something, quite a challenge, that I often miss in pc shooters. It is cruel and hard, but so much more rewarding in the long run, you plan thinks out more, that gets me deeper in the game. I wish there would be more shooters with that kind of system. But its either quicksave or checkpoints and regenerating health.
I remember being real young kid when Nintendo mag had a run up to the launch of the N64 and was touting next gen games like Turok and Goldeneye circa Nov 96 . Lol the memories.
Your reviews are one of the best even when I might sometimes disagree with them. Man, I'm glad I finally started this game. Rewatching this review a few days ago helped, since I couldn't decide what to play recently. Still only on the first 3 levels, with Level 2 done once (requires repeating for all the keys though as you mentioned) but it's some good fun. It looks like they patched the poor visibility, as a sidenote. I kind of hope they add Turok Evolution as I never finished that. I got a couple of levels in, maybe 6 or 7, but I spent most of the time in local coop fighting friends and dinos alike. I'd like to see Turok 2008 hitting steam as well, ideally remastered in some way. Would be nice to return to it and re-evaluate my opinion. I really liked it as a mid-teen, so I wonder if I would agree more with your review now.
Finished it. A W E S O M E. I headless-chickened my way through Chapter 8 as a result of "just seeing what the level looks like" and then getting into deep. Went below 20 hp twice, somehow survived to get some armor. The second time I was at ~20hp for quite a bit which is where I started playing more serious as I noticed I made quite good progress (2 save points in). Then made it to the bosses. Finished the Campaigner off with the pistol because he was just a few shots away and I was too lazy to switch after I ran out of ammo on whatever weapon I had equipped before. For those shenanigans, one of my favorite gaming moments of recent times. Thanks for giving me the push to start haha I saw Night Dive Studios mentioned here. Funnily enough, they are also involved with Doom 64. Which I started after Turok. Heh. :) And then there's Turok 2...
I missed the game when it was released so I tried it now. The shooting feels good, graphic is still nice but the key system is broken. It is not really fun to search for keys. Just a typical flaw of 90s map design that often forced you to look for some "well placed" door for an hour. They should have added a map to the keys as an option if you get lost and it would be way better or maybe give a hint something like "you still miss a key in this area".
@@kkarx I don't mind the key search all too much. Also, the game does tell you where you miss keys. In the Hub, there are stone plates on the ground in front of the portal that light up (1x gun part, rest for keys) and in the middle there are stone formations where it shows you how many keys you collected for each level.
i only thought about replaying turok again this week when i took out my n64, but visually not is coming on the tv. Then i found out this has already been out since 2015! I'll probably get this soon cuz i always played with cheats as a kid and never actually completed it.
I got this game for free because one of my friends had the humble bundle and didn't want it. Safe to say that it is possibly one of the coolest games I've been playing from the past in a long time.
So I am a huge FPS fan, even to the point I have a separate console full of old FPS shooters, after watching many reviews on how turok was well received and how I also played it much younger on the N64 I feel that someone should pick up the license, probably ID if I could feel confident about it, and make a reboot series such as the did with Doom and wolfenstein. I dont want no fancy story, no online multiplayer, NO microtransactions, just a game with all its original guns updated and some new mechanics and bring this game back from the dead. Please, let this be a reality
Holy shit, yes. I loved playing this at my friend's house when I was a kid, but I had a Playstation so I never got to play the whole game. Also, it's on sale right now for $15 (at least for US, not sure about other countries).
You can do a lil bit of tweaking here and there and add some sweet fx. i use radeon pro for my sweet fx settings. the fog yes! we work on that, so i hope we can get that fix with the community. but the fog will never go away compl. I run turok on my N64 and the new version on pc at the same time! it was really nice to see that big improvements : )
Some things in the Levels have been shuffled around, appearently. I discovered that the location where you can find the hidden Auto-Shotgun in the first Level has been changed.
Loved that game... i always played it on my mothers computer because she was the only one who had a 3d acceleration card. Maybe i still have the disc laying around somewhere...
Bought and played it recently, and I gotta say it's still great fun, 20 years later. However I do have some gripes with the game: The platforming can be downright atrocious at times, I don't know who's bright idea was it to have so much platforming in an FPS game (could be that it was popular at the time, I don't know) but there's nothing more frustrating than losing all your Tek armor and 250 health just because you slipped. Wouldn't be so bad if I could manually save or if there were more frequent save points. I'm not a huge fan of the respawning enemies, particularly on some of the larger levels where it's easy to get lost and you'll probably do some backtracking. But overall it's great fun, I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of oldschool FPS games
If I'm not mistaken, I believe there was an official word that said the fog was left as is because that was how it was designed; that if you remove the fog you see lots of bad geometry and other level design tricks that the fog is intended to hide.
+KieranD212 Just go into gameplay and press "Extended FOV" and there you go
LotusGramarye
That outs true.
Same with GTA san andreas
Yeah you're right dude it worked for two reasons, the shirt draw distance kept the game running smoothly and also hid lots of the world that was unfinished.
It's kind of grown on me over the years, there's just something about it. It was meant to hide limitations, but it adds to the game in a way for me.
This game was freaking bad ass when I played it in '97 and it still is
I saw the demo playing in a game store back then and bought it and the n64 console that same day.
Fuck yeh man , cool music , bad ass guns , cool gore and animations , wicked game
I played this and the second one as a kid in like the early 2000s on N64 never got far but I always came back to play it
I remember playing this every day with my dad, if it’s ‘97 I would have been 12. The weapons were mind blowing for games back then
The reason for the price is due to the royalties with the Turok license, such as the comic. And for Night Dive to make back any money for this release at all. The developers had no say on the price tag.

I keep loving those guys.

I own Turok Remaster thru gog.com. They tossed in Linux support and it's DRM-free. Use the Turok Plus mod for Turok 2 weapons and let'er rip!
Nothing like coming across a new Ggg manlives review in your subscription feed
Agreed!
+Apollo Yeah, Gman's videos are so professional and the writing/narration are always fun to hear. It's amazing.he's a one-man band.
gimpinmypants He's an ideal to strive towards.

+Gggmanlives You're right. It's just that in your video review it seems like that option isn't enabled so I wasn't sure if you knew about that. Anyway great review, cheers!
kremlin koryo
Oh, cool cool. Misunderstanding.
+Gggmanlives The fog was used by the original devs to hide shit that wasn't finished in many areas, kinda like Silent Hill.
+DrearierSpider1 Funny, South Park for the PC if you set the Draw Distance to high it goes far and wide. Why it isn't on here even though both are on the same engine baffles me.

they actually took the N64 content and ported it; music, sound effects and HUD are different (music and sound MUCH better).
+Phantron PC assets with N64 music; custom OpenGL engine.
+Smurfman256 Whats the difference between the PC and N64 version?
+Tenzing Khedup Better graphics, better controls, that's about it.
+Smurfman256 Do you have any idea why the PC original was capped to 38fps as that seems like a very unusual frame rate to settle on?.
Just downloaded Turok 1&2 for only like 15 bucks, definitely worth it. I miss classic fps games like these
Gonna be covering Turok 2 when they touch that up too? That's the game I'm hyped for.
+Madnam Hope so.
+Madnam That's the only one I had for PC, I can still hear those little kids: _"Turok Heelp! Boohoohoo, help me Turok!"_

+Madnam Just found out they're doing Turok 2 i'm so pumped!
Madnam Turok 2 was not as good as the first.
I enjoyed this. The Fusion Cannon and Chronoscepter were some of the best super weapons with their ridiculously overpowered display of firepower.
How...in all fuck...can you work this fast!?
He's the king of FPS games that's why.
+Salokin Sekwah You know, just trying to get ahead.
+Salokin Sekwah I can play dis shit in my sleep even hard is easy when you play Brutal Doom at hardest difficulty while giving the enemies the advantage via in-game options on GZDoom.
+Salokin Sekwah he probably got a review copy.
He mentioned before that some of his videos are already have been made. He is working on several videos at one moment.
It's crazy that he said that this game is not that much difference from the original. I guess he is not playing in 4k. And for your information you can extend the visual to eliminate the fog.
Got this for $5 thanks to the winter sale.
Me too :)
hell yea!
You are an easy person to pleased.
furrynick
I think they moved the fog out plenty far enough.
Truly incredible stuff.
this game was also great in its seamless transition is music from the open areas to caves and underwater
You should play and review Peter Jackson's King Kong, it's actually a decent FPS and is only 4 hours long. I'd like to see your opinion on it.
Was just waiting for your review to go up thanks so much for another great review
I remember playing Turok on the PC back in the day. It was one of the earliest games to release one of the ubiqitous "3Dfx-patches" for hardware graphics accelleration. I thought it looked fucking faantastic.
I sincerely hope they bring Turok 3 and Evolution. Evolution is one of my all-time favorite classic FPS games
Gotta love that widescreen transition, great job as always man.
i dont know why but slowly this guy is becoming my favourite youtuber. Cheers mr gggmanlives ^^
now i have to wait for turok 2 seeds of evil :)
Great job. :)
"Worry no more, Sonny Jim".
Good times.
Honestly this makes me even more glad that I went ahead and bought the game :)
Turok was so damn underrated, one of the best games on the N64 easy
Just bought this and Seeds of Evil remastered on Steam for ten bucks. Time to relive my childhood. Only this time I'll be playing instead of being forced to just watch my cousin kick dinosaur ass.
I really enjoy this game
Just played it thru on my Switch docked
Lvl 5 & Lvl 6 are classics
One is claustrophobic, the other puckers your butt with heights
Both are tense
Looking forward to Seeds of Evil on Switch
" The finest 3D corridor game ever to grace a console... " Die Hard Gamefan Magazine. Vol.05 Issue 03. March 1997. /Turok review
Really happy about you having this video up so quickly, however you managed it great job. Wont expect it every time but this was a particular classic that I was really interested in, but its high price made me uncertain.
I used to love turok games for the huge variety of crazy weapons you could weild from a simple bow to the cerebral bore, it was great!
There is a command that disables fog completely, however, the reason they added fog is because you could see another area of the map, you WEREN'T supposed to see, for example, the "hub area" would have been visible from any map if you were to disable fog.
im playing turok evolution right now on my ps2 and the memories are flooding back into my skull
Man... I never played the first game. I only vaguely remember the sequel on PC. We played it all the time in multiplayer. I loved that brain bore weapon.
...what a pleasure it was to see this game get this kind of treatment. I love the Turok series!
Cerebral Bore, gonna be the name of my death metal band...called it! I CALLED IT!
ggmanlives...if you havent made this video....I would never found out about you! Have to say you pretty much like games I like too :D and man...FPS games...my favourite genre :) so many reviews....its awesome, keep it up Sonny Jim! :D
Also what about review of "Syndicate" game from 2012 ? Faaar from perfect but I loved its style and fun gunplay. ITS ALL ABOUT SLIDING!
Well and since its christmas,,,,,I wish you happy holidays from czech republic :) thanks for doing these videos :) only found out about you few days ago...but you already making my days happier :) really enjoying your vids.
Bought a 3DFX Voodoo 2 back in 97 for this and Quake 2.
Yeah because this game have 2 shotguns (pump action and full auto)
Also it was one of the very few ones to get an assault rifle and a minigun with a delayed fire.
Also its weapons were fairly creative and wanted to show people this FPS have some BALLS
I mean you can carry all that arsenal and kick so many ass with it.
We have a knife who is surprisingly good if you compare to most FPS melee weapons of that era.
A bow with two ammo types
Three bullet weapons with pistol, assault rifle and minigun
Two shotguns
Three energy weapons consisting of a plasma rifle, particle accelerator and alien weapon (the two later one are probably the most novel of the bunch)
Two explosive weapons with a grenade launcher and a rocket launcher that launches 4 rockets at once.
*Remake every n64 game the egzact same but with super realistic graphics I'd buy 200$ A game.*
Turok is pretty hard to get a hand on the 64. But you can master it in time.
There was one change that I didn’t like in the game as they changed a section of the first level just after the first key but that is just a nitpick. This is an awesome game to play.
Have you reviewed Turok from 2007? It's the only one in the series I have played, but I loved it and it's permanently staying in my collection.
+DSTORQUE Haven't played it.
Launching them through the air... those screams paint my dreams.
As long as Night Dive Studios keeps doing great work I will keep supporting them.
Downloaded it for the Nintendo switch thinking it was an old shitty game ported for no reason, I was super wrong, been playing it more than any other game I have.
There is an option to push the fog back way further than what you have it. Also, there is a map option.
Nice video man. Enjoy yoir reviews
Thanks for giving me the push to start haha
I saw Night Dive Studios mentioned here. Funnily enough, they are also involved with Doom 64. Which I started after Turok. Heh. :)
And then there's Turok 2...
I think this was one of the first speed-runable games back then. I always loved how it really was just a "arcade" style shooter.
My friend had this back in the day for N64
the bosses in this game are insane
Speak for yourself that this isn’t a classic; it absolutely is. This game was absolutely fantastic and still holds up to this day
Holy shit, yes.
Man, I wish this would come to the PS4, one of my fav games of all time!
I remember playing this game on my PC, I will admit, I'm guilty on using the cheats to unlock all the weapons, but man was it fun.
It's a super fun game. I loved it growing up.
That was fast. This is why Im subscribed.
Some things in the Levels have been shuffled around, appearently. I discovered that the location where you can find the hidden Auto-Shotgun in the first Level has been changed.
Nice! I've been waiting for a chance to try this game out.
I really wish they'd do a Turok 2 and 3 remake/remaster as well. I loved those games as a kid.
+Ethan Reames they're working on Turok 2 as we speak.
Loved that game... i always played it on my mothers computer because she was the only one who had a 3d acceleration card. Maybe i still have the disc laying around somewhere...
Aw shit, I was just about to message GGGman about this. It's a great port!
Hell yeah this is a classic in my book!
I only remember Turok for Rage Wars, which was basically Quake on N64.
i eagerly await the Red Faction II review gman! i hope in some way you'll find some fun to be had out of the game, it's pretty good :D
Bought and played it recently, and I gotta say it's still great fun, 20 years later. However I do have some gripes with the game:
The platforming can be downright atrocious at times, I don't know who's bright idea was it to have so much platforming in an FPS game (could be that it was popular at the time, I don't know) but there's nothing more frustrating than losing all your Tek armor and 250 health just because you slipped.
