I have the one ive had it in a box for years, has the original sheath, seems mint and the knife looks barely used if at all. it was with a bunch of knives my grandpa had and i finally took it out bc it seemed like a solid knife and started researching it. Seems like a solid find

My father bought my Shrade 159 at the Little Smoky General Store in Alberta Canada back in about 1980. When he quit hunting, I ended up with it. It’s a VERY good knife and it dressed more animals than I can count. Thanks for your story.

As an old timer myself, my 152, 154, and 158 USA made old timers still are good enough for me. Every year when I am preparing my hunting pack and am checking the sharpness of my knives, I always get the sense that I am saying hello to old friends.

I sharpened one of those today. Just finished it. Has the strap just like yours. It belongs to my frirnd who allows me to hunt his land. When he dropped it off yesterday he said he couldn't count the number of deer he has gutted and skinned with it. His stealth is in way worse shape thsn yours tho. I hit it with bear grease to waterproof and moisturize it.
    Nice video Brother.

One of the best gifts my father ever gave me was his knowledge and love for cutlery and his skills for blade smithing, and it all started with an old timer 340t that he gave me ,its one of the most treasured things i own, i don't carry it anymore for fear of losing it but its never far off if i want to use it.

Schrade Sharpfinger, I have one too. Mine belonged to my Grandad, he worked at an adjoining plant (VAW aluminum) in that industrial park. He knew an employee, and got "factory 2nds" dirt cheap. I still have a few of those knives. The vacant plant is about 30 mins. north of my home. My Grandad is gone and sadly the Ellenville, NY factory is too. Schrade made some good, tough work knives at fair prices.

I one of the old timer fixed blades that were made before they closed the New York shop in 2004 and I have my dads old uncle henry pocket knife and i just won a sharpfinger from schrade, it is a nice knife, it does not have the wood handle, more like a dark green with black, sort of marble looking handle and the sheath is black and has the snap that comes across the handle. I like the old one and would not mind getting my hands on an original one

1974 - Cape Cod, 13 years old. Summer. All the Cool Kids suddenly start sporting this Wicked cool little orangeish knives on their belts. Nixon is President. The Vietnam War isn't going all that great. There's this really beautiful hot girl down at the Ice-Cream Shop!
Yeah, sure, there was this horrible expensive "Knife" Store down in "The Mall" That was a new thing back then, Malls...
But that guy didn't sell to Kids...
Gas Stations didn't have any gas - There was a Gas Crisis going on. But they DID have attendants, AND - Most Importantly - They Sold Knives! Especially to Kids! And They ALL had these Wicked Cool Sharp Fingers! So, One Saturday, I Mowed 5 Lawns and made $25!!! That was 5 X $5 bills! Closest Gas Station was less than a mile away! Right next to the Ice Cream store where Nina Worked! The Summer Girl! Unfortunately, Mowing those lawns that Saturday, meant the Gas Station was closed. So Bright and early Sunday Morning, I hopped on my bike, and literally pedaled all over town looking for an open Gas station that had one in stock! I finally found one - But it used up almost every penny I had! I don't remember exactly now -That was in 1974...
But I DO remember that I still had the $1.10 for the Chocolate Sunday! When Nina set the sunday in front of me that sunday morning, I showed her my New Sharpfinger! I had Arrived! I was now One of the COOL-KIDS!
She wasn't impressed. Suddenly, I completely lost any Interest in Nina, and that was the last time I ever went there...
But I still have that SharpFinger! Nina is likely a Fat old alcoholic now, sagging to her belly. At least that's the image of her I see now. And after 45 years - That Sharp Finger has quite literally been around the planet with me, Australia, Japan, Europe, Africa, Canada, Mexico, even a few Stops in various South American places.
I've used it to Dress out 1 deer, 2 elk, and even an old milk cow. You, I've found others, time and technology have moved on.
It's seen the world with me. Over the years, I've managed to find 5 more, one with a Black Nylon Sheath, and I just Got 2 of the new extra Large ones - made for us 6'2" MeatPaw owners! That old Black one - now lives in a Leather Range Bag with about 100 other Fixed Blade Knives that I've managed to collect over the the last half Century I've been buying them...
But It Knows. ( I know, It's JUST a Knife)
It was my First! Nina could have been too, But she wasn't into knives!
My Current wife IS! She's got a bunch too -

Just found your video. Just today, I dug this knife out. I've not seen it in over 30 years. It was in my long stored boy scout pack. I think I earned a bunch of coupons from selling greeting cards??? I remember trading some kind of coupons for the knife. It might have been a bunch of Benson and Hedges coupons I was given as a kid. Mine is exactly like yours except I never sharpened it or used it. I am so happy to have found it. It is the first knife I purchased myself. I think I was around 10 to 12 years old? Should put it about 1974 to 76 range.

my first knife was given to me by my father. it was a buck....i have no idea the model. it was a single blade, lockback with wood handles. i lost it when i was about 17 or so. wouldnt hold an edge worth a damn and the lock was broken. basically it was danger in a pocket sized package. but the real story here is an old timer 8ot. my grandfather bought it for me an old sporting goods store in west virgina. i was about 10 or so. we had moved to florida two years before and came up for a visit that thanksgiving. i was always close to him,and was very appreciative of the knife. so much so,i never used it. i have it now,15 years later. factory edge and patina so deep the blades are black. anyways, when i was 15 my grandparents passed and we were cleaning out their house. i found my grandfather's knife. .....an old timer 8ot. the delrin handles were worn nearly smooth, the blades had been sharpened so many times they barely resembled their original shapes, the blades were slightly loose....it had been WELL used,no doubt on many hunting and fishing trips. the fact he bought me a knife like his and didnt tell me just tickled me pink.

Sweet knife! I have the same one, with almost the same story (just later than yours). My dad had this knife for years and gave it to me when I was 13 or so. That was 14 years ago. Unfortunantly I havnt got to use mine as much as I would have liked due to the fact I keep misplacing mine. I just found it buried in my closet, cleaned up some rust and run it across my stone, its ready to rock and roll. This is the sharpest knife I own! That is some great steel!
Quick question, mabey you can help me out. I need to remove the handle, its starting to seperate from the steel from rust. Do these pins pop in and out? I just want to remove the rust from the tang. Is tang the right word? Or mabey if anyone else out there has expirence with this. Anyway, this is a great knife, if you don't have one, find one!
