Your video was so real and honest. It was all about the cookie and you gave me a great tip too. Rolling the dough in wax paper was something I never would have done on my own. So thanks for that.
I have many happy memories watching my grandmama roll up cookie dough in wax paper to put it in her freezer. Even if it was just going in for a few hours to chill, I always knew it would come out so good and she would slice me a little piece to nibble on. 😁
Made these couple hrs ago, also made them uniform in size before cooking (made them flat and round) and these are, hands down, the best oatmeal raisin cookies I've ever made, and tasted. Chewy but soft, crunchy around the edges and buttery, sweet and savory.
Just wanted to leave a friendly comment Happy holidays ! I made these cookies a few years back and they absolutely are delicious! excited to make more for everyone for the holidays!
Thank you . I followed your recipe. My husband is diabetic and I was looking for a healthy diet recipe. Well, I used stevia instead of sugar and just oatmeal flour and oatmeal. It didn’t expand but turned ok.
I've had a couple of other folks comment that they have used sugar alternatives in this. I think one person mentioned monkfruit and another person mentioned something called swerve? In any case, it's always good when you can find healthier alternatives to beloved foods that might otherwise be out of the question when someone is dealing with a health condition.
Making these for my work cookie exchange tomorrow. This is literally the best tasting oatmeal cookie I've ever had. I'm still trying to get them a little thinner and crispier, but for taste, these can't be beat.
That's what I'm all about! Getting back to the basics. A plain, good old-fashioned oatmeal cookie recipe - none of the fancy add-ins, no unnecessary spices, just straight-up oatmeal cookie goodness! 😋
These are wonderful and they have a great texture. If someone likes them crispier they can just refrigerate the dough and then bake them until they're crisp. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
I found your channel when it popped up on my screen. I was looking for cookie recipes, and I found just what my taste buds were looking for. Your voice was what kept me listening, for some reason I thought it was soothing. But I will try the oatmeal cookies and take some to work for coffee and tea breaks. Thank you, I appreciate it.
I have been searching for a different oatmeal recipe, and yours did not let me down. I followed it completely, but realized, I usually add a Tablespoon of cinnamon, and added it as well. I guess out of habit. I don't know what it is, but they are perfect. Not so chewy, more crispy. I loved them. Thank you so much. Next time, I will try without the cinnamon, if I can control myself. Lol. Thanks again.
Absolute master class recipe, I've made many oatmeal cookies and these are definitely in my top 3. I put a tablespoon of peanut-butter in the mix before I added the water, this did affect the cook time and color but they were really great.
Thank you! I just looked through a ton of cookbooks but couldn’t find just a simple oatmeal cookie recipe. I guess it doesn’t t matter if you use regular or 1 minute oats? Can’t wait to try these.
You can use regular or 1 minute quick oats. I just typically prefer the regular because I like the texture. Thank you for watching and I hope you enjoy these as much as we do!
Best recipe ever! I use it because I got too much oatmeal and wanted to find a recipe which incorporates a lot of the grain. Also, because I use old-fashioned oats from Costco, I poured buttermilk instead of water over the oats and let is soak for 15-30min.
I’ve never heard of that before, pouring buttermilk over oats for oatmeal cookies or pouring water over oats. I do soak oats overnight if I’m making oatmeal in the morning though. I try to soak them the night before with a little bit of whey. I’m glad you enjoy this recipe! 😃

I hope if you make these you are going to love them as much as we do! God bless you, Connie!
Well after reviewing about 100 oatmeal cookie recipes I am moving Old Time Knowledge to the top of my stack of cookie recipes. Nice simple ingredients, I have to believe you when you said " these are the best" Lots of excitement behind that endorsement...Thank-You...time to pop in on your other vids.
This is our favorite oatmeal cookie recipe. I won't even think of using another. I've been enjoying this one ever since I was a little girl! Thank you for watching and taking time to comment!
I think the trick you’re going to be looking for is make sure you have chilled the dough first and then when you bake them just bake them until they’re starting to brown and they seem done and then take them out and immediately put them on a rack to cool. Don’t leave them on the pan you baked them on. The air circulation around the cookies on a cooling rack will contribute to making them crispy. I hope you enjoy these!
I'm so glad y'all are enjoying the recipe! I just made some pumpkin oatmeal cookies for the first time today, but these are way better. I was curious so I had to try them, and they're ok, but these Classic Oatmeal Cookies are just hard to beat!
Haha no, straight up delicious cinnamon cookies don’t need cinnamon. But I’m sure it’s good to add! I would just call those oatmeal cinnamon cookies. Just like if pecans were added, I’d call them oatmeal pecan cookies. 😁
I've never done this so I have no personal experience, but I looked this up on Google and this link says, "Up to one cup, honey can be substituted for sugar in equal amounts. For example, you can substitute 1/2 cup of honey for 1/2 cup of sugar called for in a recipe. Over one cup, use about 2/3 - 3/4 cup of honey for every cup of sugar. This is because honey is actually sweeter than sugar.; Honey is a liquid, so you'll need to reduce the liquid in the recipe a little. Do this at a rate of 1/4 cup less liquid for every cup of honey used in the recipe.; Honey is also a little acidic. To counter-act this, add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda for every cup of honey used.; Honey causes baked goods to brown more quickly, so reduce the oven temperature by 25 degrees F and watch carefully as the time gets close." If you try it out, please let me know how it goes. peachtreeroadfarmersmarket.com/chef-demo-recipes/sugar-to-honey-recipe-conversion-rules
I'll be honest that I know next to nothing about gluten free baking products, but if there are gluten-free flour substitutes that you use for other cookies or cakes, I don't see why they wouldn't also work for this recipe. Thank you for watching and taking time to comment!
I usually let them thaw for about 15 - 20 minutes before putting them in the oven. The main thing is just keep an eye on them so that they cook but don't scorch.
