@@warpareee I would look at the GAS67 or the TESTER68. Or, any of the akko/epomaker kits. just look for what is in your price range and go from there. you also might have luck buying a prebuilt like an akko ACR board, and modding it with your own switches/keycaps/mods

I've never heard of these switches before, but as an avid hip hop head I can tell you that these switches are not only themed after Dr Doom (the marvel villain) but also the late and great masked rapper named MF DOOM (also goes by the names: Madvillain, King Geedorah & Viktor Vaughn).
He's one of my favourite rappers of all time and I've been wanting to do an MF DOOM themed keyboard for the longest time, I think these switches might just be the thing that I need for it!!

THE BOTTOM OUT SOUND MAKES SENSE, here providing validation, also you might have perfect pitch, the first one does indeed go up in pitch after it bottoms out, and the second one goes down in pitch :) great vid, keep up the good work!

If you're looking for a stock tactile with no spring ping or leaf noise, check out Fantasy carrot or Fantasy virus. They're so good stock but very underrated.
Always nice to see a keyboard content creator who’s unironically into tactiles! Speaking of great stock switches I hope you’ll check out R2 Naevys next - they’ve been fantastic for me compared to Jwick T1s.

I wonder how their smoothness compares to Azure Dragon when both are lubed. Azure is extremely smooth that it's difficult to adapt to something else, lol. Would love to hear more info.

I totally know what you mean. the Dragons are legitimately my favorite tactile that i've tried. (and their sister switch, the vbirds, are one of my favorite linears!). after testing, i think the dragons have the dooms beat in terms of smoothness (after lubing both btw). but that's not saying that the dooms are too far off in terms of smoothness. I think the comparison between these two that is most important is the feel (longer bump), the longer pole (harsher bottom out), and the unique sound of the dooms. But if you're rocking azure dragons, you're in a good spot.

I do like Azure Dragons, but I wish I had not lubed and filmed them. Even though I was very careful not to get lube on the legs, they did lose a lot of their tactility. And the housing is tight enough that filming was just not necessary.
@@fwiffo If you lube with thick lubricants, even on the sides of the stem, it will lose tactility. The stock springs are horrendous and the tactility feels weak and mushy with them and they're somewhat heavy to actuate. There is some movement without filming so I suggest 0.15mm PC films, they're perfect for Azures.
Here's my recommendation for a wonderful, rounded tactility with medium force plus a lot gentler top resistance:
- Lightly lube with TriboSys 3203 (including stem legs for maximum smoothness)
- Durock 63.5g Single-Stage Long Spring (18.8mm) (or any 18 to 19 mm single-stage spring)
- Durock 0.15mm PC films or 0.3mm foam films (PC is better for movement elimination, I've tested both. Sound-wise they're the same)
They literally transform into something else! I highly recommend this. Make sure to wipe your previous lubricant if you've used anything other than TriboSys 3203/3204.

Curious, how's the housing tolerances? I saw MakersMods film his Doom prototypes, and noticed you didn't, so assuming they're pretty tight, but films that are thin enough can be added to change the sound profile of the switches?
I’ve got the doom switches and there’s no stem/housing wobble from my experience. Super great switch!
Is the future of switches just like taking one switch changing the colours a bit and making the price lower?
right now i think the goal of this current generation of switches is to perfect what we currently have - there still isnt a PERFECT switch in this MX style- one with no stem wobble, sounds good, is perfectly smooth, doesnt need to be filmed or lubed, no spring ping, no leaf ping. there are minor innovations happening, like the Ramaworks Duck switches, the introduction to new materials, etc. but until theres a new switch design that takes the world by storm, yeah. price going down, overall quality going up is the best that can happen for now.
could you list the plate material or any mods that were used on the "clacky" build to give it the clacky sound?

Their other switches are still in preorder/aren’t out yet. But I will be getting them in the mail;) so expect content about that. I can also try using the tops for frankenswitches!

Can you recomend more poppy tactile switches?
durock t1 tactiles, mode tomorrows for a more quiet tactile, voyagers for big pops and a big bump, and azure dragons for a great all around tactile.

I want to use these for gaming, what would I preorder- tactile, or linear? I want that pop-thock but I want to use it in gaming.
I personally prefer linears for gaming, as tactiles tend to be fatiguing over long periods of time! i think the linear versions of these would be great for gaming due to their snappy bottom out and long spring (quick return)

@@warpareee factory lubing isnt always the best though. if you arent into lubing, i suggest trying to optimize the process as much as possible, even consider tub lubing the stems to speed up the process. otherwise, maybe switches with good factory lube jobs like matcha lattes would be good for you. Also, the vermillion birds might be up your alley.
HDPE is what plastic tubs are made out of, it isn't a new substance in general.
** I meant anew substance in terms of use in switches :) I mention in the video that bleach bottles are made from HDPE

@@coleydotmp4 i mean it's probably fine, but i would expect inconsistencies as you were experiencing, it may also wear more as you open and close it over time,...where it is good is and that you would want it is to keep from any chemical etc...so might be good in a keyboard for lab work possibly but i wouldn't really expect much of a difference...i dunno...it's fine i would just go with something more like a pom or polycarbonate
@@sonicase All fair points, thanks for writing that! Yes, the hdpe is definitely softer and could see wear if you're constantly taking them apart. luckily I just did once to fully lube them. Pom and polycarb are classic, tried and true, but im glad that we are experimenting and are getting to hear the sound benefits to each material. Basically, i'd prefer innovation, if it ends up not holding up over time, then i'd be happy to report that finding.

They are priced like the most expensive Gaterons... not a good thing.
While they are expensive, I think they’re very unique in the sound department. To me, it’s justifiable so long as they are beyond a simple JWK recolor. But if it’s not enticing enough, then it’s up to you to skip them!
@@coleydotmp4 Mine was not a critique to the video, that I judge very unbiased as you clearly stated all the drawbacks of the switch. There is an unique sound profile, and that's good, but I think that a less demanding price would help selling the first product of the new brand and spread the name. A strategy like the one used by Akko, that seems to work very well.

I agree! though from a business standpoint, starting a new company and having custom switches manufactured is a huge investment. Akko had been a keyboard brand for multiple years before launching their switches, because to have a custom switch manu'd with a minimum order quantity costs tens of thousands of dollars.
Akko had the money because they'd been in business selling prebuilts for multiple years - so they were able to price them so low. in fact, they are such a low price that they arent even worth being sold by other vendors - SO cheap that anyone trying to sell them on their site would make next to nothing.
Akko was able to use that strategy because they had the capital to do so. A new business only has so much to work with. So to me, I understand this pricing. These are not budget switches, and they are not trying to be. and i think that's okay.

tired of this. every switch that I find on youtube that I really like, all sold out. all the fking time. like how hard is it to manufacture a sht ton of these ? china running low on material or something? seriously?
It's very hard to manufacture a lot of these and return a profit. hype switches change every few months. tons of small vendors have been going out of business over the last year. Good news for you is that Keebfront is still making Dooms and just recently did a restock or is getting them in soon. you should join their discord to stay updated.
