    I have never done a build before, but if I can throw something together those vertex's are gonna be my first stop. I found this video and your channel looking up: "Thockiest Keyboard" lol. I got a Wooting at the beginning of the month and I was immediately like "ohhh"

      Thank you for coming by to watch! Wooting is a great gaming keyboard but definitely not Thocky hahaha. If you do plan to do a custom keyboard check out the different keyboards I’ve reviewed but I would say ones with more foam will definitely be thockier and quieter

  • @nadtz

    My dream as a tactile enjoyer is something with high 'tactility' (a nice prominent bump) and mid to low actuation force. Really liked the Bobas but I'm getting old and my beat up hands/wrists honestly hurt after a few hours with them. I'm waiting on a few kb's to test out a bunch of switches (because I'm too lazy to take my current kb apart to swap switches) but after watching this I might throw in a linear switch or 2 just to compare. I've seen a lot of buzz around the WS Morandi's, if you haven't tried those might want to give them a try.

    • @mikeytypes
      @mikeytypes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I get you I have tendinitis so anything too heavy makes my wrists hurt with long usage. The Boba felt good but I honestly for typing love my electro capacitive switch keyboard. I think a very light topre switch or electro capacitive switch keyboard maybe what you want. The Morandi is nice I didn’t put them in this video as I find them to be more creamy sounding but they do have stem wobble. The new WS pearl switch feels nice though. I do want to get myself a light topre keyboard

    • @gabbychow4026
      @gabbychow4026 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nadtz I found this light tactile from Outemu Lime. However it’s silent switch. It’s 35g actuation, easy on fingertips but I do miss the thocky sound. The bump is light but adequate, the return is crisp and Not mushy. Approximate 1.5mm pre-travel. This is the lightest tactile I’ve found so far.

Shorter travel distance that i can pair with the long pole TX AP stabs for exact same travel distance and also has minimal wobble and a nice deep sound. I currently use the Zoom98 full foam with the POM plate and factory lubed Gateron Oil Kings and I'd give a 7.5/10 for deep thock. This was my first attempt at building a keyboard and I wanted a super deep thock, I love the sound of new Akko Rosewood switch stock but they only sell in packs of 45 so I didn't get them. Do you have any tips on making the sound profile thockier?

    • @mikeytypes

      @@wilsonjevin hmmm I don’t own a 98 though I wish Meletrix would send me one. I think in general adding more foam will make it more deep. The thing is we get higher pitched sounds as the case is metal and has a faster frequency bounce back meaning higher pitch. I would say the best would be do a thicker tape mod on the back of the PCB of course better to do directly on the pcb and add more foam. Maybe change the plate POM I found made it deeper

    • @mikeytypes
      @mikeytypes  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! Not a problem, there is so many things out there that it’s definitely not easy to decide. The reason for Akko in terms of creamy sounding keyboard is because the Akko Cream Yellow is actually one of the best creamiest sounding ones for the price. Akko makes quite a lot of budget switches that are well built and even for myself the Akko Creamy Yellow’s are in my Top 5. I do plan to do a Top 5 creamy Switches and I would say the more well known ones are Akko, Gateron, KTT, Kalih, Wuque Studio, HMX, JWICK

    I love deep thocky sounds too. What is your KB spec? Foam vs no Foam sound can vary by a lot. Have you found any lighter thocky swithces like under 40g? Typing all day on 50g + does hurt the finger tips with prolonged time. Love the sound of these switches nonetheless!

    • @mikeytypes
      @mikeytypes  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Foam helps a lot with more of a Thocky sound. Less foam and the keyboard having more space I find makes a higher pitched sound the best way to look at it is if you have an aluminum case the sound resonates inside the case and metal tends to have a faster vibration which leads to higher sound. The TTC Neptunes have a 50g bottom out but has lighter actuation which may help and they sound Thocky. The new Akko rosewood is also very nice more creamy but deep sounding

      @gabbychow4026 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mikeytypes No wonder! So I do have aluminum case! It was too clacky for me so I bought the foam to put between PCB and aluminum plate, and another foam to put at the bottom of the case (below PCB). Now it sounds marbly, not quite thocky yet. My board is the Zoom75 which is really nice, but definitely a bit pricey. Another option is the Monsgeek M1 V3 which sounds really nice. If your stabs are rattly you could just replace the stabs. I use the Wuque Studio ones but I heard TX stabs are good. You could get those and replace. Add some foam or some sound dampeners to the bottom of your board and the oil kings could sound a lot more Thocky. For lubing stabs I would suggest lube the stems and the wire and then use a syringe after to put more into the stabs if it’s still rattling. Depends on the size of keyboard you want though, but most recently I have posted a very budget trimode TKL the MCHOSE GX87 they said it would start at $79 for the lite version
