    One of the best reviews of these new releases so far

      Thank you. I tried to be honest. Thanks for watching and enduring through it all. 🙏🏻

    They’ve also could’ve included at least one other song from “Beatles For Sale”, “No Reply” or “I’ll Follow The Sun”…

      I think they are teasing the fans for an upcoming box set of the first 4 albums remixed.

    The record company and Apple screwed the fans with a shoddy product.The price is outrageous for a dull cover, cheap gatefold instead of a trifold. The Red vinyl was shortchanged,could have contained another half dozen songs. Only 1 song from Beatles For Sale. Not going to support the greed of the record company so downloaded it for free off the internet.

    Thanks for the insightful breakdown, Arnaldo! I was wondering about the now-notorious ending on this new remix of “Walrus” and what it was exactly we were listening to (it’s so different that I too was confused if this was just a heavy remix to what was already there for this section of the song or -gasp-something new Giles and co added)…your assessment that seems it’s the former makes more sense to me now. Thx again.

      I listened to Walrus several times and there is a lot going on for sure. I could be wrong but I don’t think Giles “added” new sound effects. Thanks for watching!

    I agree with the lack of bass comment. This applies to the red album too.

    Excellent review of these Beatles releases. Been a Beatles fan for years and have all their albums but have never felt the need to pick up these two compilations. If I were to buy one, it would be the Red one and then only for the 2023 remixes of the older songs.

      Good choice. The Red one is a great choice for the 2023 mixes 👍🏻 Thanks for watching!

    The distortion is actually heavier on the new stereo mix compared to the original stereo mix. You may be comparing it to the heavier mono version?

  • @girlswanted7
    @girlswanted7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Giles seems to be more inconsistent with the d mixing process as opposed to a regular remix using the multi track tapes. That being said d mixing should only be used for the pre 1966 tracks that can only be remixed this way. Walrus, Old Brown etc could have been remixed off the multi track avoiding some of the issues we see.

    • @fidelios_frequency
      @fidelios_frequency  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good point. Not sure what drove the decision to use MAL for the later songs that were recorded in multi track.

  • @girlswanted7
    @girlswanted7 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m really happy they didn’t d mix most of the tracks on the Blue (they didn’t need it). I think for those tracks you pointed out (in the booklet) there is a 2023 d mix Atmos version 🤷🏻‍♂️. But, those mixes on the CD and Vinyl aren’t 2023 mixes because they aren’t in Atmos. But, on certain streaming platforms you do have the option to stream in Atmos.

    Great review, appreciated the coverage track by track. I too would prefer a chronologically accurate track listing.

    Here is my issue. The Beatles have and always have been a band that recorded/mixed for mono (mostly). The Beatles themselves often complained about the original stereo mixes. Often there would be hard panning, a few bad edits, and some missing sound effects (Sgt.Pepper). That being said it’s not all bad. George Martin remixed Help! and Rubber Soul for cd in the 1980s to piggy back off of what I’m saying. The biggest issue is the kids in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and on only listened to their music in this fake stereo. Imagine the horror if you recorded/mixed something that nobody listened to anymore in mono. I grew up in the 90s and only heard Sgt. Pepper in stereo. I didn’t understand what the fuss was about until I properly heard these albums in mono which were impossible to get back then on cd.
    Overall the Red/Blue is fantastic. She Loves You the mix is amazing, but needed more treble etc.
    ISHST needed more guitar due to Ringo’s drums being in your face and loud.
    Old Brown Shoe the guitar fader needed to be brought up around the 30 second mark
    I am the walrus John’s voice and the ending are botched
    Considering we have over 75 tracks most of it is great.
    Listen to You can’t do that. It sounds amazing. Other tracks sound great but Giles could have went further like with Ticket, Help, Hide Your Love, etc. The sound could have been brought out more but they still sound fantastic.

      Overall we are splitting hairs here. 😂 The Beatles music is great and whether it’s stereo or mono or remixed the songs will always be triumphant! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I always appreciate my viewers’ participation 🙏🏻

      @@fidelios_frequencyI was shocked listening to some of the original stereo songs on red using headphones. They’re mixed so poorly and unlistenable on headphones. 🤣

    Excellent review. I was particularly bothered with the lack of bass / bass definition on some of the 2023 mixes on the blue album (especially the remix of Hey Bulldog which is almost unlistenable IMHO).

    My big problem with these releases is that they are not London Town and Back to the Egg Archive releases. I am happy with my Beatles 2009 remasters. Both aforementioned Wings releases have been mostly untouched since the 90s and include several excellent officially unreleased tracks.

    • @fidelios_frequency
      @fidelios_frequency  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I think those are two different camps. MPL steers the Macca releases while Universal/Apple are in charge of the Beatles. Yes, it would be nice if the Macca archival releases resumed! Thank you for watching!

    As long as there is a market for it, the record labels will continue to publish remixed/remastered Beatles albums every 10 to 20 years and most likely will redo all the albums with AI sound alterations for generations to come.

    Giles has totally boned Revolution and panned the guitars to the right channel, the result is a muddy mix with no guitar interplay between channels. The Love mix should have been included.

    • @fidelios_frequency
      @fidelios_frequency  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed. Revolution has been “tamed” by Giles.

  • @novangoghmusicofficial
    @novangoghmusicofficial ปีที่แล้ว

    I was very disappointed with the Revolution remix. If you compare the 2023 remix to the original stereo mix they’re not that much different. The “Love” remix is far superior and has the guitars split.

    The Red and Blue albums were Capitol's last-gasp effort to milk the product of a band they'd ignored 7 years earlier. Originally, the albums had the John Barry intro'd version of Help, and the kick-drum-ending (Single edit) version of Get Back, but later versions of the "Greatest Hits" albums (without calling them so) didn't. Don't look for them on these editions, either.

    • @fidelios_frequency

      I still prefer those versions of the songs, 58 and 54 years later! I also prefer the "false start" version of I'm Looking through You, to the "original" Rubber Sould track. @@fidelios_frequency

    • @macdrummer007
      @macdrummer007 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was John Barry's intro into "Help"? I always presumed it was George Martin.

    • @TheAnarchitek
      @TheAnarchitek ปีที่แล้ว

      I used John Barry as a metaphor, because he scored the James Bond Theme, among others. The soundtrack music for the film Help! featured the twenty second sound clip Capitol attached to the US version of Help! I have no idea who played on it, but the radio stations used it as the single version.
