Good information ... but Title subject starts a 3:12 and ends at 15:00. I was hoping for a more in depth look with screenshots from both systems, nevertheless you made good points for someone just starting out. Remember that shops with dynos charge by the hour. If your car is not correctly prepped you will blow your cash having the tuner properly install clamps, fix boost leaks, fix wiring and other issues instead of actually "tuning" your car. If you don't know what plugs you have and the gap they are set to they will have to check them. If your valve cover is leaking oil onto the plugs and wires you are literally throwing money away if you don't fix this before you buy dyno time. Easily half of the time our shop is paid for "dyno time" would cost MUCH LESS in the next bay over. Dyno time is ONLY a good investment when we can make pulls, make changes, and make pulls. We have 6 bays for auto repairs, and one with a dyno.

What's funny is you are leaving the decision up to the viewer. lol Good Work! It's simple, if you're not sure ask questions, download the software and get familiar with the interface yourself...and most importantly consult with multiple tuners.
Only tired Hondata.......Love it. Sick boost and incredible control over the ECU. Been super happy with my results.

Love the content! I decided to go with KTuner V2 because of the live-readings, looks and just overall interactability. It caught my eye very quick as I enjoy seeing data in real-time.
Edit: Well, after seeing Derek Robinson comment on this, I have to say, I'm glad I chose KTuner.

I'm not a huge car guy, but I've always liked cars. I guess my level of understanding is I know most car parts but don't really know how they operate, I know proper maintenance ect; Is this something I could still pursue with that in mind? What topics should I learn about to make sure I'm doing this with a good baseline knowledge?
I believe you should go with what your tuner works with and feels better working with i mean is just my opinion.
I’ve used both so I feel basemap to basemap they are kinda the same. I do like how KTuner has a lot of drop down quick selections. Their software also seemed more user friendly. And overall it seemed to have more capabilities. Where Hondata software is a little tricky to use. My KTuner v1 stopped functioning, which is what led me to upgrade and just because I wanted to see the differences I got a Hondata. However depending on my goals over the next few years I may end up going back to KTuner because as Derek had stated, it really does have more to offer. But for now as all I plan on running for the time being is a basemap, my Hondata is good enough.
the reason i prefer ktuner is because you can monitor certain things like knock and oil temps, oil pressure and afr. I just have a cobra cold air and full 3 inch turbo back catless so i have a custom tune from Drob
Custom Tuned by DRob too on Ktuner V2. Here's what Derek said about Ktuner pro's: Proper enrichment logic from the start, map switching capability, raised fuel pressure targets to extend the range of the fuel system, actual misfire monitoring.
hondata on the other hand he said, "The only thing I'd consider "unsafe" about Hondata in terms of reliability is their lean fueling on FlexFuel files by default, and the backlashing off torque limit tables in terms of CVT life on cars so-equipped."
He also stated," I don't work for KTuner or Hondata, and I tune both brands literally all day, every day, for a living.
KTuner is the superior means of tuning an L15 currently.
If you enjoy limit tables for everything, running out of injection window early (without running the car lean, that is), and incorrect software number flashing, then by all means, use Hondata."
You can do it with hondata also i have my head unit jailbroke and i see everything

When the 11th gen drops I’m gonna grab a Sport Hatchback. It’s the same engine I think, with maybe a different ecu so the tunes will take some time?
I only plan on doing the +6 psi tune once my warranty is ending or when I feel comfortable voiding it, I’ll probably go with Hondata for the discrete aspect, seen some other vids where people had their Ktuners stolen because of the obvious screen on the dash.

Hondata ftw jk I’ve used both, very similar for base maps, personally stuck with hondata, but ktuner felt like it had more power based on a e85 basemap w/prl race maf.

I'm gonna go with Ktuner. Now I have a SI 14 Coupe, the only mods I want to go with are a Ktuned Downpipe Header, Invidia N1 Exhaust and a 3.5 inch ktune intake. What are your thoughts? Should I take it to someone to tune it or do you think Is possible doing it myself with my computer ?

2017 civic lx n/a 2L engine. Which is better tuner 2.0 or hondata. Basic tune up, maybe up to 220 hp or less.
By the way, what made you pick Luna silver? That's the direction I'm leaning.
SugarPimp904 I originally wanted black, as all my previous cars were black. But when I ended up at the dealer, they gave me a good deal on the Si but only had Lunar Silver. So that’s how I ended up with the color. But coming from owning Black cars and now owning this Silver, I can definitely say I am much happier. Paint always looks clean~ can never see any scratch marks (if there are any), and when the sun hits right it gleams nicely! Hopefully that helps your decision haha 😁
Got a 10th gen hatchback Sport touring also in silver and damn depending on how the lighting is gives it a different color. Also pictures don't look as good compared to in person

Ktuner has more options and more tuning capabilities and from a tuner standpoint is the better option yes.BUT it doesn't mean that hondata is shit and would blow up your engine and all other BS people are saying.Tuners will always use the best they can get at the time.Even Spoon is selling Hondata now in Japan for the FK8 and Fk7 .
Hondata needs to step up and improve things!

I love how the people who are backing Ktuner all banded together and its the same people that always make maximum effort to stay slandering Hondata had to come on this unbiased video and comment. Just based on how condescending these people are, that would steer me away from Ktuner if they really need to defame another company just to gain more market share then that's just bad business practice.

He's about as unbiased as you can get lol. Let's forget about the fact that the guy who made this video is clearly biased having only used Hondata. Nobody but James Holy represents Ktuner, as he is the owner and creator thereof. There isn't some conspiracy to slander Hondata, neither is Ktuner paying anyone to do so. Hondata is in fact an inferior product, that costs more for less, and is ultimately not as safe. Hondata gets the slander because they're a greedy, unethical corporation that tries to play on people's emotions, and sell a product deceitfully. People like you (GULLABLE) are the exact reason why the Ktuner crowd is so up in arms, because you simply do not do your research, since you're so easily swayed by the opinions of people that don't even work for, or represent a company.

Any car you modify will cut the reliability longevity of it, the most reliable a car will be is bone stock.
@@PhongVLG thanks for the answer. I know that modifying your car will decrease your car's lifespan about 1 year (like i said just an example) What i meant was, will you run into any hiccups in the first 5k miles after you've installed these tuners. Changed the question :D
@@sea5023 Haha no worries, also no you shouldn’t run into issues within 5K miles at all after tuning the car, if you do. It could be due to other modifications. Base maps aren’t powerful enough to cause that type of damage, unless warned otherwise (I.E: Some may cause stock clutch to slip)
@@PhongVLG I heard a lot of speculations about tuning the honda. Some say the cvt transmission can not handle that power and eventually break down. They may not refer to hondata or ktuner when they say tuning the honda but i still dont know. Do you think hondata or ktuner is safe overall. Would you recommend it?
@@sea5023 When it comes to the base map you’ll be fine if you want to venture any further for power than you run the risk of course.
