First contra was scary, actually. It has some creepy alien vibes.
Especially when we were kids
Well it was based on Ridley Scott's Alien franchise after all.
it gave us a warning that aliens are here and taking control of our world...look at what we are having many years later...
@@jackylee5850 Yes ,unfortunatly the remake distance it from ther Alien Franchise. The original enemies ware pretty much the aliens from Ridley S. , those here are something they invented.
Which made me love it.
And to this day, people still don't pick up the laser :D
this remake of contra is FUCKING SHIT
Ngl wish I had the homing missiles when I was a kid
Spread all day
S weapon just feels right. L might be stronger but its not as flashy
@@TheBathrobeWizardContra III on SNES had the homing rockets.
Anyone who loved Contra and then claims to dislike this you must be kidding. This was like a love letter to the series and they incorporated 3d without taking away from what mad Contra great
looks like a crap
After watching this, I have a newfound appreciation for Contra 4.
This new Contra game combines elements from Contra 1, Contra 2 (Super C), and Contra 3 (Alien Wars), and I absolutely adore it. In the past, I found the Stage 1 Boss in Contra 1 to be too simple, but now they've crafted a fusion of the two mini-fortresses from Contra 1 and the third boss's mini-fortress from Contra 2. Now it looks more like a boss.
Some NES bosses are kind of weak. It doesn't take a 4 year old me many try to exploit.
And from the ending, it seems we may get Alien Wars or Hard Corps additional story DLC someday.
this remake of contra is FUCKING SHIT
There is also the worm boss from Contra 4 (for the DS)
The first boss was a nice surprise when I watched the boss fight for the first time.
prefer the art direction of the original tbh...one of the best gaming memories was first time playing Contra on the SNES on co op killing the 2 robots, then the footsteps start, the awesome soundtrack kicks in, then Big Fuzz comes through the wall...great stuff. 👌
Yeah, it is way better.
Exactaly this stage IS ALL amazing... IS the Best stage from abt contra games...
Yh they kinda pennywised it.
They dont look scary anymore
I wish they went with like a 32-bit pixel art style
newly to old again???
Looks great. As someone who's loved Contra for over 3 decades this new project looks fantastic.👍
It's already out and the game is great. Unfortunately only 8 stages, like most of the Contra games. But there plenty of option to play with (perks, few difficulties, local co-op up to 4 players but without online multiplayer). Maybe you want to wait for sale, but definetely worth playing.
Hello game designers for Contra Operation Galuga,
I think you did a great job at recreating the essence of the original game, which is something that is not easy to do with most remakes, because a lot of the times, developers make too many changes that make the game feel different.
Then, there are times when developers need to add new ideas, but the ideas need to look and sound as if they are extensions of the originals. This isn't an easy task, but I think you did well here.
One thing I noticed at around 9:09 of this video clip, the cave level - the tunnel looks like it could be further developed to be a part of an entire level and still look and feel as part of the original.
maybe you should comment on their TH-cam channel?
@@dvdbox360
Don't encourage them
@@dvdbox360I don't know the game developers' TH-cam channel, but I'm sure they frequent many of the fans channel and read comments, like these here :).
I like it when they take each boss from the previous Contra and upgrade them into another level. Now not only they look more gorgeous, but also more dangerous.
Paid comment.
@@ExMeroMotu9 you got it backward.
😂
Great men make great times, great times make shitty men, shitty men make Konami.
Evil can't make nothing.
Real nice comparison - thanks!
The first boss in Operation Galuga is a fusion of the original Contra mini-fortress and the third boss mini-fortress from Super C. Overall, Operation Galuga takes elements from Contra, Super C, The Alien Wars, and Contra Rebirth.
The combination among episodes is so attractive that I can’t wait to buy one.
The soundtrack of the bosses against 3 are very good, they give you adrenaline and that suspense as if something bad is coming.
Love how they leaned into the Aliens references in Contra. Character names Lance Bean (Lance Henriksen x Michael Biehn) and Bill Rizer (Bill Paxton x Paul Reiser)
Why hollywood never produced contra movie is wasted opportunity. Imagine if arnie and sly teaming up
And character appearance looks like Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Rambo (Sylvester Stallone)
@@ahmadsallehuddin7583 Actually, Bill looks more like John Matrix. From Commando.
It was meant to be an Alien game from the start. But the 20th Century Fox wouldn't strike a reasonable deal, so Konami rebranded it a little and made their own franchise. The same way as StarCraft was meant to be a Warhammer 40.000 game.
@@michaelbuckers Wait, it was?
HONESTLY THE OLD VIBES OF CONTRA CANT BE MATCH , ITS AN EMOTIONAL CONNECTION!
Bosses from Previously Contra games
Stage 1 Boss - Entrance Security from Super C at Stage 3
Stage 3 Mini Boss - Guldaf from Contra NES at Stage 5
Stage 3 Boss - Gromaides from Contra NES at Stage 3
Stage 4 Mini Boss - Spidal from Super C at Stage 3
Stage 4 Boss - Gomeramos King from Contra NES at Stage 8
Stage 5 Mini Boss - Gordea from Contra NES at Stage 6
Stage 5 Boss - Crustacean Cruiser from Contra 4 at Stage 7
Stage 6 Boss - Big Fuzz from Contra 3 The Alien Wars at Stage 3
Stage 7 Mini Boss - Victious Slave Hawk from Contra 3 The Alien Wars at Stage 6
Stage 7 Boss - Shadow Beast Kimkoh from Super C at Stage 8
Stage 8 Final Boss - Emperor Demon Gava from Contra 3 The Alien Wars at Stage 6
Entrance security from contra right? Super C first boss was a Helicopter.
@@NelsonWinOops I mistake it
I'm sad, my favorite Contra game (Shattered Soldier) didn't make an appearance.
This video did not show it, but in Operation Galuga, the stage 2 miniboss is from Contra 1 as well
@@stevenpotter2903 Also Contra3 Stage 1 has basically the same thing.
Absolutely awesome video!
Tnanks bro
The last boss is actually inaccurate. Contra Galugas last boss, when its attacking the ship you see it from its profile. He looks exactly like “ Java “ from the first NES game. This is Red Falcon.
The “ mother alien “ as you know is called “ Gava “. She didnt appear untill the second coming. Super C. Her lineage is Black Viper.
Contra Wars was both lineages attacking Earth in a united front. Both Gava & Java are equals to their own Kindred. They are two entirely different beings / DNA strands, but of the same world and cause.
It is implied Both Red Falcon & Black Viper are bio weapons of the actual aliens attacking us as reviled in shattered soldier.
I understand that this is a reboot, but it does take reference directly from the old games. I wouldn’t be surprised if you see the actual mother alien Gava in the next game.
Super Nes will always have the best music
Capcom
Genesis will always the best Contra.
I was looking for this comment and didn't have to look far. The SNES Contra has one of my favourite soundtracks ever.
It's also my favourite Contra, though of course I recognise the merits in the other classics.
in classic contra, you have to destroy both hands of Gromaides to make the fight easier.
But in Operation Galuga, destroying Gromaides' hands made the fight even more difficult.
Thank you for posting
I like how you timed the demise of each boss with one another.
Played this on the SNES but mine was Super Probotector - Alien Rebels. It was so badass back then. Members come over to my house and we play in turns from morning to noon in the weekends. It was wicked.
You can play as the probotectors in the remake, but only in arcade mode not story mode
Supposedly all the games come with operation galuga
It’s been almost 40 years since Contra was released. I do not think this version represents 40 years of progress.
Nice and ok as this was a reboot. I just hope the next Contra game will have more original stuff. It’s ok to mix in some more from contra 3/4/ Hard corps. But I want to be surprised and getting “wow” again. And only new things really do that to me
Actually lead to the story it was a prequel to Shattered soldier
Great video! the creators of the new contra did a great job for those that appreciate the originals!! Thank you for this game!
These changes look amazing!
this remake of contra is FUCKING SHIT
The "gargoyle" was a very unique boss from Contra 3 with the wall climbing and the teleportation, in the remake it's "generic flying boss".
Original and Remake 🔥
Well it's not a remake
满满的青春回忆。
Full of youthful memories.
You did a good job with these edits, how long did it take you ?
As long as they didn't mess with the balance, then I don't have an issue with a remake, because Contra was basically a perfect game.
How is that nobody see the constant hard corp references? Have you not played that masterpiece?
I feel like a ton of people skipped hard corps which is unfortunate, killer soundtrack
As much as I like Contra 1, Super C, Contra 3, 4, Rebirth and Operation Galuga as much I don't like Contra: Hard Corps. It's too fast, too chaotic and it's soundtrack is some kind of "cat's music" based on "meow meow" sounds :D (melodies are fine, but sounds aren't...).
But true, Operation Galuga has some references to Contra: Hard Corps, for example Fang is in the game.
Masterpiece ever. Great
In the New/Remake one they turn Gava into Malebolgia 👍👍👍 Great comparison ❤❤❤
Actually, the running sequence @ 5:00 is a remake of an identical boss fight in Contra Hard Corps on the Sega Genesis.
Wasn't the Gordea fight inspired by the sniper chase from Contra Hard Corps?
Does it save your progress between stages?
Retro gaming is HUGE right now. Why is no major developer making games with hand drawn sprites? It would be a gold mine right now
There are plenty of sprite-based releases over the past 15 years from indie studios.
Emperor Demon Gava here feels more like Black Viper, like going through his body to get to the head/brain.
The spiked car boss in stage 2 is probably based on the similar-looking enemy/mid-boss from Contra 1's snow field stage.
Crustacean Crawler coming out of the train reminds me of the train boss from Rogue Corp.
Historically, I've thought and called Gava the "Ground Beef Brain Boss."
Amazing 😮
I don't know, the original graphics looks more interesting, it has it's own character to it.
5:10 Boss in Operation Galuga has named as Devil Worm. But yes, this is similarly to Crustacean Cruiser.
8:17 This boss is called as Metal Alien.
10:23 Final boss in Operation Galuga is not Emperor Demon Gava - it's Dragon God Java, but it gets similar abilities and Searle-themed brain.
P.S.: And yeah, you skip miniboss from Operation Galuga Level 2 - Armored Truck aka Dogra. Dogra is miniboss in Level 5 from original Contra.
Can we get a LifeForce or Zombies Ate My Neighbors remake next?
but does the code still work?
4:28 hey it's Deadeye Joe
Good comparison vidclip
Spesially the desing choper at the final scene, i just like it the old version more.
Crustacean Cruiser: When the original looks better than the remake.
This is what we want and actual contra not 3rd person not from above camera the actual 2d run and hope they more of like this awsome
Nice video, I think you’re missing one boss from the hover bike scene, it’s the car chase which is a Contra boss
Oddly enough the vicious slave hawk was in super contra... arcade version lvl 4....had the long tongue, swoop attack....but I think alien wars wanted to use this guy...with additional teleportation
Wait a minute, which system is the original Contra from? Because that spinning shooter was not after the defense wall on stage 1 on the NES. You killed the guy at the top, broke the two cannons, then broke the generator at the bottom, and that was it, on to stage 2.
Correcto.
I love both the new and old version of Contra
Great video but at 10:37 that Java is based off of the long dragon-looking head that shoots out Alien Shrimps from its mouth in Contra and Contra 3. The design is very.similar as well.
Can you do a comparison of the arcade vs the new game?
which contra has the crustacean cruiser?
I love the laser. It cuts through weaker enemies and its damage output against armored one is brutal.
Laser almost in every Contra have I highest damage
What platform is the new contra on?
Love this.
Hay jefes que no salían en el #Contra de NES que yo jugué. Mas el juego sí lo terminé. ¿Es de alguna otra versión nes?
I need to get this.
Played this like every day finishing it like every day 😂😂
That S power gives me chill vibes😊
so is the statue and alien human boss new?
This is definitely a remake from the previous Contra games!!! Incredible! 🤩
I personally enjoyed those surely unlicensed references to Aliens and The Terminator in the original game. The new game also feels decent, but it's a different game now.
No sabía que había un remake de este juegazo 😲😲😲
best contra yet
contra remake ?
which platform is this Contra for?.
which from what I saw mixes.
Contra.
Super Contra,
Contra 3 vs Alien.
and another that I don't think I know yet
Good remake for what it’s worth but some things can never be replaced. Original all the way.
When I first saw this game, I wasn't sold on the presentation. Hell, I'm still not. However, it's very clear that the devs care deeply about the franchise and want to do it justice, which I can wholly appreciate. I'm going to wait for a sale then get involved.
It's a similar situation to Metroid - we don't _need_ series definiting masterpieces for either franchise (though that would obviously be amazing), just modern titles that are damn _good enough_ and don't stray so far from their roots. At least that's how I see it in these two cases.
Nice video. I really appreciate it.
New one is a great addition to contra series
I'm not a contra fan. however the new game did a good job reimagining the bosses I think. yes the game is certainty low budget but the animations are smooth and gameplay doesn't look bad. I'd say that the new one does suffer from the detailed backgrounds. the original allows you to clearly see the threats and dodge them accordingly whereas the new one throws stuff that's barely visible sometimes and will probably get some cheaps shots on you
Can't believe they forgot about the Caslevania reference in Hard Corps
They should add Contra characters to the new Smash Bros game.
6:38 Also Big Fuzz can be a possible Smash Bros boss.
Really cool
Omg my childhood😭
Para cual consola esta el nuevo contra
Dónde se puede descargar?
the running boss is from Contra Hard Corps
Now compare the remake bosses with the ones from the original arcade version, and the MSX version, and the Contra Evolution version!😄🤩😎👌
for me nothing will beat the originals. Good try on the new contra but it still does not come close to the level of excitement this game brought back in the early 90's
The music was better in the old games, don’t really hear it on the new one. Plus that sound when you shoot the bosses too 😅
Use can change the music in the new game to the old ones and they also have a remix version of the old which is good that you can choose from. I grew up on the old one as well and they did a fantastic job remaking this one but I agree the boss music while it’s not bad it doesn’t have that bass and swag to it.
Yeah this is a really awesome remake @@johnnyappleseed8127
Too bad arcades arent a thing anymore. Cabinet of the new Contra would have a waiting line
So it is an actual remake?
Wow...! Holy huge tribute...! :)
I need a remake of Alien Wars and Shattered Soldier.🔥
*Интересное сравнение*
This is a good remake but why omit the cyborgs just to give a 2 part big cyborg battle. Will that be included?
Proving once again that pixel art is superior. I have no idea how the company that made Contra 4, the most gorgeous Contra game, also made this XBOX live arcade-looking thing lol. No disrespect intended to XBLA, or Hard Corps Uprising, a Contra game that was actually on XBLA over a decade ago and STILL looked better than Galuga O.o
Here it is but both 2D and 3D games have their own charm granted there's some originality. I like the old contra here because of originality. A real gamer doesn't intentionally isolate themselves from 2D or 3D games, for both can provide (and have for me) great experiences. It's foolish otherwise.
I have a question ..why always monsters shout when they first appear or when they see the camera ??? Is this their original behavior? From Movies, games, everywhere
Because they encounter the character and they either warn them or it's a battle roar. Not hard to understand.
About this remake, THAT'S video game, let's never forget that.
Can you play as the wolf though?
It's weird that the final boss is said to be Java, the final boss of the original game, yet it looks and acts more like its successor Gava...
we got contra remake before GTA 6
Where is the remake on? Wat console?
