Honestly tracer is the only reason I enjoy overwatch. No other character in any game has had her style of play other than maybe titanfall. Yet Id say pilots are moreso like lucio. I love the run and gun and quick thinking even tho Im a calmer person lol

I only found Awkward's channel the other day and its good af, I ironically just started watching his tracer unranked to GM just the other day, so it's really cool to see this tracer video mentioning him
If you have played Magic the Gathering before, there's a cool analogy that applies very well to Tracer, she's like "Mono-Red" , agro glass cannon. In Magic, if mono red is too powerful, everyone plays it, but if mono red is too underpowered, control play styles take over and make everyone miserable. In the end, the hardest characters should have more carry potential (a huge part of what makes them fun to play), but always have adequate counter play.
I so much prefer cassidys stun as a tracer main, not only is it a fairer match up but when either player dogdes the stun or pulls the stun headshot combo correctly it just feels so good
Same here. It had clear limitations and threat, and you could counter skill with higher skill. New nade just feels like someone bought cheap Chinese cheats.
As a tracer main, cassidy is a little too broken at the moment. Blinking into the other direction and having the grenade do a 180 before doing 70 damage and making me not being able to use any of my abilites, with 80 hp left makes it not so great

One trick I learned is the power of greed on tracer. This works better on characters with less movement abilities. For example, lets say your harassing the ana or zen in the backline, when he follows you and gets greedy ill quickly blink to the tank and start putting heavy pressure on the tank. If done in the right situation you could have a support and a dps both looking for you in the backline while your already putting heavy pressure on the tank. This works because of player greed and tracers mobility. If a zen follows you or and ana its going to take them a second to get back to the fight while your already at the tank instantly. And also its going to work better if your team can even beat down the tank in the first place but regardless your putting heavy pressure on lots of enemies quickly. This is NOT "the way" to play tracer but a cool trick to add to your arsenal when it works. Hope that makes sense it was kindof harder to explain than I thought lol.
The main reason I will always respect Tracer as a hero, is that no value she can get will ever feel cheap. Every single point of damage, every blink, every tactical decision, has to be precisely calculated. You can't just burst someone down without having insane mechanical aim. You can't just blink around and abuse the map without being exceptionally skilled with your awareness and cooldown management. You can't just target someone and by accident kill someone else. And at the same time, everything listed above that you can't do, can be done to you by the enemy. As a full fledged Tracer main (alongside Pharah) playing in high rank, yes my default is Tracer, but man sometimes it's just so much easier and stress free to lock Legs and just get value for absolutely free. So much easier to go Cass with his cheat nade and hard shut down enemy players who are outperforming their team and carrying. So much easier to just sit 5 miles away on Widow and pop backline heads without having to navigate the map and watch your every step. So much easier with Sojourn to just Apex Legends your way through danger with minimal risk of punishment while applying constant pressure from whatever distance or angle that pleases you. Nothing on Tracer comes easy. And that to me is why I respect the players who dedicate themselves to mastering her and unlocking her near limitless skill ceiling. Because I know what sacrifices they have made along the way to get so skillful on her. I know what type of easy value they have turned down in their pursuit of hard earned reward.
Awkward is a literal god of overwatch. He did an unranked to GM on Baptiste that left me speechless at how overpowered a "healer" is. And it wasnt even smurfiing coz he was consistently playing in top 100 lobby.

Tracer is 1 of those heroes that can either be the worst person to play against or the best person to play against based off her kid being so simple and so hard to master, In my opinion tracer is the hardest character to master, Because your either bad with her or a god with her
If I recall correctly, OW league at inception your team just lost if you didn't have the tracer pick and who ever had the better tracer won the match, GG go next kinda bad hero design but she is stupid fun to play at all levels
Mainly cass nade is what is stopping tracer from being super strong. Its like the old days of brig being released. Meaning one ability (nade) (shield bash) prevents you from using escapes and gives the defender a huge window to get the kill on her. If cass nade didnt halt her escape abilities she would be super strong in higher elos. Tracer is a high skill floor and high ceiling character which is generally good. Your level of mechanics and game sense playing tracer will get you the rank you should be at. Thats why lower ranks tracer isnt a good/hard carry pick but then we see her all over overwatch league over the years and dominating/consistently being a top pick on gm and top 500.
The strongest counter to Tracer is simply awareness. Keeping an eye on her pathing and rotations, and poking her out whenever you have the chance, force her to rely on minis and waste her time and resources before she actually is set up to engage. No other hero relies as much on pathing (maybe except ball but his resources are far more readily available so it doesn't impact him that much). If you can disrupt Tracer's pathing, you shut her effectiveness. But people end up tunnel visioning and forgetting about her until she's on their heels. Awareness is the counter. Cass nade is just a cheap substitute for fighting skill with skill.
The difference between brig & cas is that cas isn't a healing machine, so he doesn't break the game nearly as much as brig did...once nade is on cool down he doesn't have much survivability besides his roll. Though they definitely need to nerf nade
Personally disagree that Tracer's OP, she just seems like one when the player's actually that good, the same thing when a Genji player's actually popping off. And if some people think she's OP and broken, remember, Widow and Hanzo exist... Also most likely a skill issue on the part of these said people. Also, I'm okay with the grenade shutting down abilities thing, but it being some kind of "movie magic, over-the-top homing missile" is retarded. It should just be a Yeet grenade.
Lastly, this movement ability shutdown should've been a Ramattra vortex thing not a Cass. Vortex shuts down Flyers in the Ramattra trailers, and the vortex being more of a Yeet grenade really makes the idea of it shutting down movement abilities a lot more palatable in my opinion rather than a homing missile that will slow and shut your movement down. Either A. If they're gonna stick with Mag Homing missile grenade, please delete the movement shutdown and place it instead with Ram's Vortex or B. If they're gonna stick with movement ab shutdown, make it a Yeet Nade, like his Stun Grenade before.
I think Tracer is as about as close to perfect as you can get. Sure, she can use a numbers tweak every now and again I guess, but overall, she's SO much fun to play, you will never, EVER stop learning on her, and you need to learn all the basic skills of the game in order to do well on her.
Cassidy grenade is bullshit, using all 3 blinks is just enough to escape the cass grenade, sometimes I just straight up recall when I face him around a corner. Your best option is to either listen or look if the nades been thrown, then you can hard aggro
Personally the tracer/cassidy changes stopped me playing the game. Even when I get value the game just doesn't feel fun when you die to random crap so easily now. Maybe at GM when you can hit more of your shots it's fine but my plat ass had the fun taken away
Ohwow I've had almost the same experience. First couple of days she's felt extremely free value for no effort. And then random oneshots from Hanzo, Mei, Kiriko start kicking in. Guess time to learn character matchups
Not really. I mean vs Torb's turret yes it helps a bit, but the raw damage number wasn't the problem. The problem was that your position was being highlighted and you would often be trading hp for navigating the map and committing to fights. None of this has changed, you can now just stay in a fight 0.2 seconds longer. Sym's turrets on the other hand are just busted vs Tracer now as they give enemy WH on your location the moment you take any damage+1 second later. This is a major buff for any Tracer who doesn't just run it down main with her team.
OG tracer main & while I still love her the nerfs feel unnecessary given just how easily & often she is one tapped at least when playing at gold/plat. If you’ve got a good team behind you then she’s a lotta fun but solo queuing is where this becomes a struggle as it’s often more rewarding to switch to higher health n damage heroes than grinding kills using tracer.
Have you tried Deep Rock Galactic? As an OW player I love the team play and variety of that game. I've been grind it for years but I sure someone like you would have fun mastering it over a few days
Magnetic grenade shouldn’t prevent you from using abilities. It should stick to you and if you use a movement ability within the next 5s it’ll explode For instance, recall would nullify the grenade as long as the initial explosion doesn’t kill you.

It’s 2023 overwatch, there’s so many lower skill higher reward characters than tracer, if you still can’t counter her 150HP these days without a magnetic bomb that’ll inevitably be changed then maybe you need to improve your skills.

Im fine with her as is tho, she just needs another damage nerf and all healing ingame needs a massive nerfand it’ll be good, she doesnt oneclip people from semi-close range and she can still kill easily since healing is no longer a pseudo rez. The only difference now is that people she 1v1s have a chance to fight back. As always…support is the issue.
