    Love this vid, your hair turned out great! Can you tell me approx what ratio you used for the shampoo when you added it to the bleach+developer mixture? Some things online say to do 1:1 with shampoo:mixture, would you say you did around that ratio?

    • @EstherPerepechkin

      I did 1:1 with the developer and bleach. With the shampoo I probably added 1/2 a cup

    • @waider

    Glad you were able to achieve your goal but telling people they can achieve their goal at home is wrong for multiple reasons. To keep it short, cosmetologist went to thousands of hours in education to get their license and for you to tell people basically to do their hair at home to save money is taking away from the cosmetology career. Also, the amount of money you spend on products to do your hair will likely be more than a salon given the time is takes to achieve anything. Most likely, by going to hair salon you will achieve your goal, even if it takes a few times (like you experienced doing on yourself), your hair will come out more even and healthier bc they use professional products. Just something to think about.

    • @EstherPerepechkin
      @EstherPerepechkin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Sure! You have some valid points. Everyone has a choice to make. Not saying I’d never go to a salon but I also have been giving myself Brazilians for 3 years and recommend that to others. Doesn’t mean I’m taking away a from aestheticians 😉

    • @marahbrooke
      @marahbrooke 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It depends on the person honestly. I say if you want to DIY it go for it! I've been to many different hairdressers and tbh I'm usually happier with the results I get at home. The only time I truly loved a salon job was when I spent $400 at a high end beauty solan. Well I can't spend $400 every time I want it done really well. Some stylists are great but there are a LOT of bad ones. Sometimes you care enough that you'll get better results at home 🤷‍♀️

    • @EstherPerepechkin
      @EstherPerepechkin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@marahbrooke I’ve been to 4 and only liked the results of 1. It’s hard finding a hair stylist that know your hair and can achieve the look you want. My sister in law had a Balayage done by her hair stylist( that she had for years) because the hairstylist said she could definitely do it. Long story short she ended up going somewhere else. I believe hair stylist can do magic, but it takes time & money to find the right one for you😁

    • @mackenziekoch3727
      @mackenziekoch3727 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You both also make great points! I’m speaking as a hair stylist but I totally understand not each stylist is the one for you. I’ve seen tons of bad hair from other stylist that claim they can do everything just because they want the money. I personally don’t work that way because obviously that’s awful to do to someone! I’m not saying you all are wrong to do your hair at home but as a stylist it is hard to see people with a platform promote doing your hair at home when there is plenty of good stylist out there that put their blood, sweat and tears into their career. To each their own, of course! I just felt the need to say something from the other side. All in respect!

    A root melt would be perfect for you especially if you like the natural low maintenance look. Literally just taking a Demi or semi permanent color that is similar to your roots maybe a level lighter. Put it all just on your roots and then comb through to blend. It will make your grow out look so much more natural and less harsh. Also a good rule of thumb when checking to see if the lightener is done processing is to compare it to the inside of a banana. That is the perfect platinum level 10/11 to actually have the toner work and get rid of brassy tones. Hairstylist for almost 10 years here and as I would still never recommend someone doing this bc it would have easily gone very bad but i am proud of your process to get here!

    • @allisongillespie6573
      @allisongillespie6573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Also if you can try to blow dry most of hair first before using the Revlon one step dryer it will help with damage. A brush usually shouldn’t be put in your hair until it’s about 75% dry bc it’s too much tension and it truthfully does nothing styling wise. Getting most of the moisture out with a blow dryer or letting it air dry will reduce the amount of tension and heat you have on wet hair.

    Just wanted to give a couple tips: when you wanna check your bleach process level just take a strand and spritz a little water and wipe with a towel/paper towel to check it… then just reapply bleach if needed. Also, use a clarifying shampoo for better results. I highly recommend adding a bond/booster like olaplex or one ‘n only one shot bond repair. Good job! Hair is gorgeous!

    I’m trying to figure out for myself the best way to try this at home, my hair is already blonde just warm undertones, I want to take it lighter though and touch up my darker roots. What is the purpose of the shampoo mixed with the bleach? Also can I use the same 20 with my toner as I used with the bleach?

    • @EstherPerepechkin
      @EstherPerepechkin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I believe the purpose of the shampoo is to dilute the bleach. I’d bleach your roots firsts. Do some research on how long to leave on the bleach or read the label. Don’t leave it on to long since the heat from your scalp makes your hair bleach faster! Then tone it.
      Also yes, any 20 volume developer will work.

    The next time you bleach, I would recommend you try Special Effects “Mixer/Toner” for toning. I’ve been bleaching my hair at home for years, and that’s the best (and easiest!) product I’ve ever used for toning. It’s what I use to get my hair from the pale lemon color to a platinum blonde. The Mixer/Toner looks bright purple, but it won’t turn your hair purple, it just neutralizes the yellow/orange the same way a toning blue or purple shampoo does. And best of all, no mixing! After bleaching you just dry your hair, put it on, let it sit, then rinse it out. It leaves hair nicely conditioned, too, and the smell is nice. I think you’d be really pleased with it. 💖

    It turned out to be be a pretty tone of blonde. Just keep in mind that continuing to bleach your hair or doing bleach baths to strip it and overlapping chemicals on to previously colored hair down the road will cause breakage. Your hair can recover from minor chemical damage but once your hair has been extremely fried from bleach the only way to fix it is to cut it short no hair masque can fix it then.

      @@matthewd3175 I applied argon oil + jojoba oil everyday morning and night. Did oil masks + Olaplex before washing my hair. Also using not much heat at all and when I did I used heat protectant!

    The new color suits your skin tone very well, better than the honey blonde.

    can you use purple shampoo as the shampoo for the bleach bath? would it help tone?

    I have been trying to get My hair platinum for like a month now. I knew nothing about dying hair. My hair is already blonde and I try to bleach it and then just use a toner by itself. And I would also dry it then wait until the next day to tone it, which both didn't work and now from your video I know to bleach it then tone it! Thank you!

      I just eyeballed the shampoo. I think I did about 3/4 cup of shampoo. 2 toners(I linked them in the description. I believe t10+t18. Once I dumped the toners I filled the toner bottle up 4 times with developer. And just half a cup of water or so. That’s what I remember to the best of my ability. Hope this helps!
