How to go from Brown to Platinum in one day - color correction tutorial transformation demi hair dye

  • Hey Everyone! Thank you so much for 1,000 subscribers! This week we went pretty viral for this Platinum Bleach Out on Tik Tok, so I spent like 6 hours putting together a FULL PROCESS with all my formulas, methods, tips, tricks (basically an entire walkthrough on what I'm doing and why I'm doing it!)
    Please be advised that this video is "technically" being made for stylists. But if you are looking to get a bleach out to platinum done, this is going to be a great video for you to understand what kind of process goes into getting someone to white blonde! This process took me 7 hours to complete! not only because this client has some of the thickest hair ever, but also because she has a Demi permanent colour in her ends. that made the bleaching process a bit more extensive because I technically had to go over her ends like 2-3 times. My formulas are all in the video! I don't have specific measurements for them, and the reason is because I don't measure (eep! don't do what I do, kids!) I've spent enough time with the color line that I know what I'm going to see when I pour, so I'm a bit of a "free pour" kind of artist! my formula for my toner is laid out by what I use the most, to what I use the least, so keep that in mind! every her of hair is different, so if you were to use this formula, I would only use it if you experience this kind of lift in your hair!
    New hairdressers, or Hairdressers who are new to Bleach outs: Please feel free to ask me any questions that I may have missed addressing in this video! there are also lots of slides with explanations in it, so feel free to screenshot and keep as a note for future use!
    I'll be answering all comments and questions in the comment section below! please be kind and remember to love your pets!

    I love how specific & meticulous you are. Very educational. I appreciate your specifics because you explain the reasoning behind it all…the sectioning and formulas you choose, cause & effect, as well as the results you’re trying to achieve in depth prior to showing the final look.

    Wow if only other hair dressers spent this much time and care I could have platinum blonde hair like this but instead I’ve spent so much money for absolute laziness. Never again. Trying to learn everything I can on TH-cam so I can do it myself and save money and time and not be disappointed. Thank you!!

    • @krothwell817
      @krothwell817 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most "hair dressers" can't spend that much time on a client unless their whole day is booked for that one client. If you only schedule a 2hour service we can only take 2 hours on you. If not we over lap other clients appointments. Most hair stylists don't get paid hourly, it's commission (percentage of services). So most of the time I end up splitting up this 7hr process into 3 different appointments because most people don't have 7 hours to sit or have over $600 to spend on their hair in one day. 🤷‍♀️

    • @ItsmeBish584
      @ItsmeBish584 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@krothwell817 it is on the stylist to determine how long a session will take them. This is why in person consultations with your clients are so important. You can't blame laziness and a lack of professionalism on a client. If you're a good stylist you're not scheduling 2 hour sessions for every single person. THAT is lazy and based on such quick client turn over you're obviously only in it for the money not the art and beauty of it . Get a different job.

    • @krothwell817
      @krothwell817 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ItsmeBish584 where did I say I only schedule 2 hours with each client or blaming the client? Re read what I wrote. I said you would have to book the whole day with that client. Where I work I have a book of regulars who pre-book with me and I have new clients who will schedule color or highlights with me online that usually books out about 2hours or a balayage for about 3/4 hrs. Most people don't want to just have a consultation and then wait weeks to get in to get their hair done after telling them it will take 7 hours and possibly $600. A lot of clients can't spend that much money at once or dont have the time to be in the salon all day long to achieve something like this. I love what I do and have plenty of loyal clients who continuously come back to me for 13 years so nope I think I picked the right profession, I'm not downing this girls work, it's amazing and I wish I could work in a salon like this. But I live in a small town not a big city. So I'm just being realistic.

    Your level of detail is amazing and I love how meticulous you are. Going back into the foils is above and beyond what any stylist I’ve gone to has ever done and you can tell what a difference it makes. My hair tends to get very orange when I try to lift it and it’s so frustrating. You are so talented and you can tell how much you really care about your clients happiness and satisfaction ❤️

    This has been so incredibly helpful. I’m a trained stylist but had to “retire” early due to physical issues so it’s been 16 years since I did it fulltime. I’m a natural level 7-8 blonde but have always gone lighter. After my divorce and hair experimentation I’m in the phase of getting back to a blonde I can manage and toning is huge for me. I have to say that this turned out really nice. I am not a professional hairstylist but I am a client of who did this. I had the exact color mix as this client did. My hairdresser did the exact same thing but did not evaluate my hair very well. My hair looked really good the first few days but then after a few weed my hair got really dry and brittle and was very hard to work with. Practically did major deep conditioning and took a very long time for me to get my hair back in good condition. Then it was hard to keep the orange tone to show through. I regret doing it. If I had to do it again I would’ve done multiple sessions and done it gradually. I regret doing it.

    • @src3360
      @src3360 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its not the stylists fault. Bleach is going to damage your hair. No matter what brand, volume, formula mixture, if you do it or a licensed professional... it is going to damage your hair. Technically it is designed to damage the hair to allow color out. Bleach is extremely alkaline and it makes your hair swell and the cuticle to lift and allow the color, melanin, to come out. Everything you do afterwards like deep conditioning, using purple or blue shampoo/conditioner, going in for a toner monthly. Having and maintaining blonde hair requires a lot of work for the client 💜

  • @SakuraUchiha2328

    This is such a helpful video! Thank you for posting it. I do have a question if you don't mind me asking - I'm not a professional stylist but I've been experimenting on my hair for the past few weeks with small sections of blonde highlights at the back of my head (where it's hidden so nobody can see if I messed up hair haha). I bought blondeme and am using 7 vol and 30 vol developers for on and off scalp. My hair is around a level 3 at the ends (it's been dyed before 2 years back) and from my roots to the middle of my hair, they're virgin hair level 1. I've been leaving the bleach on for the recommended developing time of 45 minutes and it usually lifts to level 7-8 and I'd have to rebleach it again to get level 9, and then once more to get level 10. I'm a little wary of leaving the bleach on for longer than 45 minutes because I'm afraid I might damage my hair too much but so far it's been pretty soft and silky. I've used bonding treatments from the blondme range post bleach to mantain the hair integrity too. Okay so I rambled on for quite a bit but my question is: can I leave the bleach on for longer than 45 minutes? In the video you said that your client has been sitting with the bleach and foils for quite a while and her hair still looked amazing at the end of it all.
    My other question regarding toning: I toned my level 10 hair with the blondeme toner and it washed out the next wash (2 days later). I've been using the olaplex shampoo and conditioner and the kerastase purple shampoo too. Is there a way for me to prevent the toner from washing out too quickly or did I not apply it correct? I applied it after bleach and let it sit for 15 minutes

      You can let the bleach sit longer than 45 minutes if the hair still feels good. It just loses its strength after a certain amount of time so it won't lift as quickly..you can also mix up fresh lightener and reapply in each foil so you don't have to wash and try to pick out each highlight you already did. (As shown in the video)
      Make sure you shampoo the lightener out twice, don't condition and then towel dry your hair so it's slightly damp. Then apply your toner and let it sit up to 20 minutes before shampooing it out.. It's best to wait 48 hours before washing your hair again after your color service. This gives your hair enough time to return to its normal pH level and your hair will hold the toner much better.

    Did you take out the foils that you did at the beginning earlier? Or did you take them out all at once? How did you time when to wash out each section so that it didn’t end up lighter at the bottom and darker at the last parts you did?

    Would you suggest using olaplex with this bleach to prevent even more damage from happening?

    This turned out amazing! I’ve got similar colour brown (little lighter than a 6). I’m going in for a bleaching to get to ash blonde with shadow roots. I have fine hair and it’s not thin but it’s not thick either. Last time I dyed it was over a year ago and it was professionally done. I’ve dyed my hair blue, black, auburn and bleached to blonde myself many times however I’ve used lots of hair restructuring shampoos and conditioners (NAK) as well as hair masks and bond enhancers nice it was last dyed. My sister is a hairdresser so I’ve been speaking to her about my hair health and she said it’s super healthy now and it would be safe to bleach it 🥳🥳🥳.
    Thank you for this information, I’ll be asking lots of questions about the process they’re doing during my appointment to make sure they’re doing this as I don’t want to come out looking horrible. (Every time I’ve gone to the salon it’s been a horror story. I went in to go blonde from blonde (a touch up) and they dyed my entire hair purple, no it was not from the toner. This happened twice and I only went there to support the family friends business. The last time I went to see her which was the last time I dyed it I asked for a cool brown and they gave me warm brown with a SUPER orange undertone, my hair was my natural colour at this point so they didn’t have to add any colour to get it to that.🤦🏼‍♀️

      This is why I do it myself! I have one hairdresser I ever trusted in my life . She has become to expensive. I do it myself. Everyone's hair is different and I already know before I get somewhere that they aren't going to do it correctly. When I tell them what I need before they do it, they ignore me and it comes out exactly the way I said it would. The only hairdresser that worked for me is the one who listened and I can't afford anymore. It's so frustrating.

    So obviously the toner worked well and you did an awesome job but I do have a question- why did the violet and gold tones in the toner not cancel each other out in the toner before hitting the hair? I’m not a professional and just love the information in these videos!

    Is it not damaging for the hair to leave the bleach in for like 3 hours?

    Ok I am a regular person not hair stylist , so you said it took you two hours to lay all the foils , I want to do this at home
    Having this bleach in your hair for this long is that dangerous for the hair to fall out or does it depend ?

  • @vinnyantoine

    did you leave the bleach on mid lengths and ends for over 2& half hours????? How long was the bleach left on hair ,from last foil you put in right untill you washed it? Over 2 half hours???

    i have a very similar client coming in this week who wants a platinum card as well. this video is SO helpful. i am an apprentice and this will be my first platinum card on a human Lol.
    Am i correct that those first foils you did sat in the 20v lightener for ab 2.5 hours?

    • @BobbyHairStudio
      @BobbyHairStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Everybody is different. If she has naturally light hair or virgin hair I would start with seven volume. Always do a test strand first. Just because it worked with 20 volume on this client doesn’t necessarily mean that that’s the strength that works on your client

    I'm here from Brad Mondo, my hair is somewhat dirty blonde but my natural hair is blonde, almost platinum. What would my level be, and how much would it cost? Also wouldn't using that much bleach kill your hair?
