❗️I realized I didn’t mention that I used to do bleach baths on my roots before but as I now have the 10 volume developer it’s just as gentle, maybe even more gentle than the bleach baths. So this is way better, cheaper, quicker and so on and so on 😌
@@FunnyHelljust notice that you would never reach this platinum blonde with bleach bath, it works for blonde/chatain roots, if you do, you will go copper or piss blond
10 vol is so underrated. It s more gentle and the lift is more even, because when you lift slow, the bleach has more time to destroy the warm pigments. I only use 10 vol on my hair.
Only works for certain kinds of hair. In Latin america or asia we tend to have hair that takes so much more to lift so it would take us like 4 rounds of 10 vol to lift like 2 or 3 levels xd
Perfect, i do my own hair and love my blonde hair. The roots are a huge pain . I always watch the roots vids to give me motivation ever 4 to 6 weeks. Iv been doing it myself for 32 years so always watching out for new ways of doing in faster. I my say that small mirror to look at the back would be tricky for me lol but im impressed and your hair looks perfect. Learnt from you the banding thing that u never really thought of that b 4. I tone and its boring
Hello, hairstylist here 🙋🏼♀️ I did make me really nervous with your technique, i would never ever bleach my own hair. Even as a professional 😂 but you did a pretty good job for an at home service. My recommendation is to use more product an even thinner sections. People with a darker natural base would come out really patchy. You're lucky to be that light naturally 😊 and you're right: the lower developer is more gentle but it takes longer to lift 😊
I’m glad you said this because her technique looks easy, but I find it quite difficult in practice, even though my hair is not much darker. I find that I need to be a lot more precise and use a lot more product for a decent result. also, I find doing bottom-to-top sections in the back super hard, next time I’m definitely trying top-down instead.
I'm definitely going to try this method. Ive been bleaching my roots for over 10 years now myself. My natural color is dirty blonde too and ive always been told to use 20 vol. Im going to start using 10 vol now and trying this method of bleaching. Thank you for the video! ❤
Stunning!💞 I’ve been maintaining platinum for more than a year and it has been a steep learning curve! So glad I stumbled upon this tutorial of yours, I am used to doing 4-part sectioning but now I think your hair sectioning technique for back hair root retouching is more sustainable for monthly upkeep!❤️
I recently went blond again. I was in 2013-2017, dyed my hair black, then back to red and then blonde again. It fried off and cut it into a pixie in 2018. Now my hair is down to my waist, and I went through an entire bucket of bleach to get it blonde. Doing my roots now is so hard but you made this look so easy! I have maybe half an inch grow out but the back I know for sure I missed a bunch of spots. The top layer is also really yellow and I cannot get it to tone I’ve tried everything it’s so stubborn 😢
I’m so scared to try to bleach my own hair at home, I had a bleach, horror story and broke my hair off and ever since I’ve been getting it done professionally now for the past four years. This is kind of making me want to try it at home again.
The top of your head is not the warmest. The underneath back is the warmest, followed by the back sections by the ears. The underneath back usually takes the longest to process because it’s darker than the top as it’s not exposed to sunlight as much. You’re good to start in the back in case you need to rinse it out in case the top and front aren’t processing as quickly. You can also do 10 volume in the back where you started and then use 15 volume on your last section so it will all process evenly and you don’t have to over process the back so that the front can catch up. I would say to also take thinner sections so it processes more evenly. You can also use hairdresser cotton in between sections to ensure no previously bleached hair is laying in bleach. 🤗🌟
Thank you very much for this video. I had to get most of my hair done by a pro in California. It was a mess but costs up to $500. I’ve moved out to a remote area and I don’t want to spend that $400 like last time on my touch up. I’ve ordered those 1st 2 products you mentioned. I’m excited to not rely on a salon right now. I appreciate how easy you made this as it seemed scary before with other videos
Amazing work! Lucky you probably a level 8 naturally. As a professional I thought I'd recommend jjust combing the product about an inch or two instead of massaging this way you precisely get the product where the banding may reside. Other than that a absolutely amazing work.
i have super dark hair and ironically i like making my hair white like a grandma’s, but i have no idea if a 10 or lower volume developer could even work, so it makes me nervous if it’s worth the purchase for myself, but this video is making me inspired to at least try it too lol
My natural hair color is a bit darker and a tad bit warmer than yours and I can get away with using 7 volume developer (with a 9 level lift bleach like yours). It makes a huge difference. I have to leave it in for 45 to 60 minutes depending on the room temperature, but it works very well. When I use 20 volume I just need to leave the bleach in for 10 to 15 minutes and 20 if I want it REALLY white, but I wouldn't do that if I wanted longer hair. I do have VERY short hair and don't care too much about using 20 volume, but if I wanted it to grow long, I'd always prefer 7 to 10 volume and let it sit longer rather than going quick and more damaging. I do use a brush that is meant to use for free hand painting techniques (e.g. balayage or ombré techniques) because it easily lays the bleach onto the hair rather than stroking it away which regular hair coloring brushes can do. That makes the application process much easier and quicker. The tip of the brush isn't blunt, it's more jagged and the bristles themselves are packed on more dense while they are also quite fine in texture.
Thank goodness someone else does their roots with 10 volume!!! I have natural Burnett hair but if I use 20 volume on my roots I get soooo much damage. I also only use 10
Same babe I only have done a retouch twice / first time w 10 went perf no breakage but I had to double process cause it was still yellow😧// second time with 20 and I had sm breakage and still yellow roots…but I was not willing to double processAHHH coming up on week 4 and I cannot wait to do my roots and get rid of the yellow banding but I’m NERVOUS pray for no breakage and clean application…she made this look so effortless
ah your hair looks so healthy i have like the same blonde color right now and it’s so so damaged 😩 i have really dark natural hair tho so that’s probably why
I have medium to dark brown hair and would never use over 20.... Someone explained it to me once like both 20 and 30 will get the result you want but one is like using a hand pistol to create a hole in a wall vs using a grenade.... They both create a hole in a wall but.... It made me think of blasting the health out of my hair if I use too high volume developer....
We have some products here in the United States that will lift the hair color almost as light as a powdered lightener they are very high level blonde dyes I tried a few but I toned them to a copper color because I wanted to highlight the sides of my hair but without standard bleach, they also work pretty good on hair that is 50 percent gray...I'm betting your hair easily lifts looks like a level 6 at the root.
You did such a good job it looks amazing! 🖤 I have to admit though I cannot wait for all the colour I am so excited to see what you do first on that perfect canvas it's going to be such a satisfying watch 😁
How long do you think you left the bleach in your hair for? Like a total of 20 mins maybe? Would you recommend I use a 20 vol developer instead if I have a much darker brown root?
Love the technical terms 😂 but seriously great video, super detailed thank you 😘 I might have missed it but how long do you process for? Im right at this in between spot of needing to re bleach the mids and lengths and not needing to (I really should have done a second round of bleach but hadnt done my own hair in years was nervous to,) so its really uneven and still have a gold amount of gold and warmth.... A pro tip that I learned from a hairstylist, if you put 2 packets of sweet n low (artificial sweetener) in your bleach, then your scalp won't burn.
U can also apply a thin layer of coconut oil on the scalp!
like those sugar free sweetener sachet that we put in tea?
