J-hope created the whistle melody and the song was born with JCole in his mind. He gives way for his idol be as you say JCole. He listens to jcole’s rap while dancing underground like he used to. He started from the street looking up to JCole. Then at the end he met up with him at the roof as peers. Respected peers.
Honestly being fan of jcole since forever, I thought that he made the beat. And I LOVE is J hope music, that is even better. It means a lot in so many levels.
Thank you for this information. Without even knowing J Cole was Jhope's idol ever since he was doing underground dancing, but seeing them on the roof together just got me burst into tears😭😭😭So proud of our Hobbi😭😭😭😭😭
He was dancing underground while J. Cole was rapping on the roof, and in the end, Jhope comes to meet Jcole at the top. This may represents J-Hope's journey from the bottom to the worldwide top, from the time when he danced to J. Cole's rap even before joining BTS to the today when he can make music with his muse. Given all his hard work, i'm so proud of him. Now He has his idol in his music, sings together, and dances with Jcole's rapping. Happy to see his smile with his admirable artist. His goodbye(for a while) is sad, but he will be back with that smile. These two really did a meaningful job! (and i was waiting for your reaction!! )

My man Hobi collabing with his muse. 😭 I am so happy for him. This is his dream coming true. Imagine dancing to J.Cole's music when younger and now, getting to work with him. A full circle moment for our Hoseok.
The billboard says 'its my call' as in its J-hope's call for the mandatory military service. He is enlisting for it soon n this is his last project and a gift to Army. Legendary collaboration with J.Cole his muse, the one who opened up hobi's world. On the street refers to where he organically originated from, his root that made him who he is today. Also on the street is a homage paid to Cole by Hobi for being his longest time inspiration.
An amazing metaphor. while J-Cole raps on the rooftop, hobi dances in the subway. it's the way hobi shows his great respect for Cole. while he was striving for his dream in the underground, cole was already his icon, like his sky. later hobi gets out of the underground and goes up to the rooftop and meets cole, meaning hobi became a great artist himself like his icon and got to work together with him finally.
Man, this song is fucking incredible, I can't stop listening to it. Jay let Cole have a full 32-bar proper verse and then Cole put all force and effort into his pen and ate that blaze of verse bro this is the embodiment of respect. Also Hoseok underground freestyling to on the top of the roof Cole is a damn circle of moments! Ugh this song is incredible. The MV also seems simple but it's sentimental.
"It goes back to Lollapalooza last summer," J-Hope told Variety. "J. Cole is my idol and we met there. Since then, I couldn’t stop thinking about how great it would be if we could make music together. So I reached out to him. I already had a plan in mind to release music around this time, and I began working on it in early November. As much as it took me a while to finish the song, I cherish it so much and it means a lot to me." The release of "On the Street" follows the recent announcement that J-Hope will be the second BTS member to join the ranks of Korea's mandatory 18-month service in the military. This was j-hope's "see you in awhile" message to Army as he goes off to the military. Dream come true for him as he's always loved J. Cole. j-hope's line in BTS' song "Hip Hop Lover" from way early in their career: "Hope hope world, before I built my own world, there was Cole world"
mad respect to jhope for giving the floor for his idol. and the alley where jhope walked in from the first scene of this MV is also the same street where j.cole did his MV called "SIMBA"

When Mr Cole says that he has already achieved a lot and could step out to the new artists, but he's still hungry to work reverbs so much the feelings of Hobi's MORE and ARSON I was blown away
It's so touching that during the j cole part, j hope dances underground as he danced to j cole's music many years ago, but this time to their song together, amazing. Then it comes to the surface, which I think is a metaphor for his development
" In a way, you could say the song began with me whistling as I often whistle the melodies of the songs I listen to. I was home dwelling on what kind of music to make and I just randomly blew a whistle and that just became the melody for “on the street (with J. Cole).” I instantly liked it, recorded it, and worked on the song with my producer. It came to me naturally, so I hope listeners would feel the same way about the song. " Above is the part of his interview from VARIETY about the beginning of this song. Hobi is so talent but works hard for his fans as an influential artist in the world. Really awesome.
J-hope met J. Cole during Lollapalloza last year which you can see in the Disney Plus documentary called "J-hope in the Box". The song created by Hobi because it's a gift to his fans to say "See you later" since he will enter the military soon. If you also now the song "The Astronaut" by Jin from BTS you might notice the little similarity between the video for "On the street" and the video for "The Astronaut!, Anthony 🙂
When j cole rapping on top building while j hope is dancing on the ground and just walking on the street that itself a representation of hobi started, but in the end he did it and meet with his muse , and collab with his muse
I'm so over the moon Hobi got to collab on a track with one of his idols, and still turned it into a gift for ARMY. J. Cole's poetic lyricism, the old school beat, j-hope dancing through Cole's verses. Fuck, I love it. I love it so much.
9:14 Yes, here’s a fully explanation by Jhope in Variety - “street” bears special meaning to me. It means “street dance” which is my roots as an artist. It’s where my inspirations come from and it symbolizes the path I’ve taken as j-hope. It’s also where I learn lessons of life. It is a place where we can actually encounter and feel the real lives of people: a child’s innocent mind; first encounter with someone and falling in love; someone in an urgent moment; a quarrel; an avoidable breakup, etc. Street is a metaphor for life. I tried my best to convey all of this in the song, and wanted to share hope and courage to those who are walking through their lives. I want this song to accompany all those who are off to a new start or on a long journey, like a friend. (Likely referring to say goodbye to his 20s and military enlistment)
I loved the song 🔥FINALLY HOPE WORLD MEETS COLE WORLD!!!! Without a doubt, my favorite part was when Jhope danced while J. Cole rapped because Hobi said he used to dance to his songs when he was young and to see him dance while collaborating on a special song for him with his idol...I got so emotional, I cried. Also when Hobi was finding his own style as a rapper J. Cole's style was his inspiration. When I saw the pictures of J. Cole at Lollapalooza it was like wow, he met his idol, and then with the images in his documentary "Jhope in the box" (Disney Channel) I really thought "I wish they would do a song together"🥺 but I didn't expect it, when I saw J. Cole in the mv teaser, I SCREAMED 😱, no one saw it coming! Thanks for your reaction💜
It make me cry everytime I hear 😪. Jhope being fans of jcole, dancing his rythms, on the floor.... AND COLE, upstairs , on the roof.... That was amazing!!! At the Last meeting each other 😍. He did it, hope achieved his dream!!!!
Yes, ON THE STREET refers to Hobi going back to his roots and his “muse” Mr J COLE. The mv was filmed when Hobi flew to NYC… The beginning was filmed in Chinatown, the end with #JCOLE was filmed in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood (near where I LIVE🥹🤪) you can see part of the Manhattan Bridge in the background. #JHOPE #ONTHESTREET 🫰🏼💜🥰 Thank you for reacting to our Hobi and Mr Cole’s artistry!
Love it. Amazing vibes. It feels like a nostalgic hug Hobi wanted to leave us with before he goes to the military. J. Cole's verses were great. Hobi met him at Lollapalooza and told him he was his muse. So happy they got to work together! Hope Cole World! 💜Loved seeing you enjoy this so much!😊
The fact that the MV is a clear representation of HOBI being On street and looking up to J.Cole and then at the end HOBI joint J.Cole at the Top, wow what a journey, Hobi from the street dancer now together with his idol at the Top,me crying oooo Hobi 💜 it's so beautiful
Born Singer was developed from J Cole's Born Sinner. He has been an influence for BTS since the beginning. This is a dream collar for J-hope. As Jimin said, dreams come true. 💜
Jhope NEVER never disappoints his fans J Cole is such a legend and Jhope is my fav artist ever This collaboration is a masterpiece The fact that Jhope give more lines to his muse this is fcking respect

the line about the daughter is a double entendre about his craft and his career and how one day he has to let it go. It continues throughout his verse (him mentioning giving up his crown)
everytime iiiii,, everytime iiiii ---i can't get over that harmonizing and just the message.. no words. the satisfaction of Hobi meeting him atop the building... oh my G
Cole is one of his idols. BTS/HOPE, They’re huge fans of him and even did a cover of Born sinner called ‘Born singer’. J-Hope is currently getting ready to do his mandatory enlistment in the South Korean army, so this is kind of a little goodbye until he’ll be back! It’s really a full circle moment for him. Well, where is such a miracle in the army, well, why ?? What a spring song, this whistle directly evokes the vibes of a walk along a spring street, and the mood is so nostalgic, right when the sun is shining and the soul is light, I even want to cry. And the fact that the melody was written by Hoseok, but Cole's verse really hit me in the heart. I love you Hoseok unbearably, don't go..
Not try hard. Easy going. Genuine. Main stream friendly. Sentimental. Reflective. For both. A tribute to J Hope’s roots. J Cole the elder statement, the hyung, giving his wisdom as he reflects on his own journey as a rapper. BEAUTIFUL ❤️🔥
JHopexJCole collab is top tier. Hobi sure went for it, going back to his roots with his low-fi beats. So happy Hobi got to work with his hero/idol. If you watch Hobi’s JITB documentary, there’s a scene where he & Jimin first meets JCole, it’s fun to see him fan boying! Man, gonna miss j-hope when he leaves, it thankful that he gave us this song before he leaves. Props🙌💜🔥
MAN.....I almost told you to check out the new collab with J&J. Am I ever glad I didnt!!!! Would never want to suffer AR's wrath!!!😢 Thankful for the collab that was solidified at Lallapolooza this past fall. Hobi meeting his idol!! Actually the idol of BTS in general. They respect him so much! One of my favorite reactions AR!!! ❤❤❤
I know Jcole but never really listened to his music, but his verse gave me the chills! I’m going to check out his music! This collaboration was insane!!! So great!!
The billboard say's IT'S MY CALL | Which I think about JHOPE'S Military enlistment, it hits hard. JCOLE and JHOPE met each other backstage of LOLLAPALOOZA.
I am so moved Jhop and J Cole So beautiful harmonized I love J Cole's rap song And Hobi's song and freestyle dance On the street Especially whistle sounds So beautiful song ❤❤❤❤
Oh the wisdom.. .. JCole’s lyrics unbelievable since this is the second J Cole song first one born sinner cuz of BTS.. I ended listening to the lyrics of J Coles!!!! He’s genius!!!
I loved this reaction. And the whole presentation was so much about taking art making seriously, while also staying relaxed and open. But it means a whole lot, too, because J Hope is starting to be seen and appreciated by some of the deepest artists on the international scene.
As an ARMY who would be left by Hobi for a military service, reading J Cole's part is like a comfort as well as a summary of our situation right now, we gotta let Hobi go and grow into a MAN and we gotta let ourselves grow too without him for a while. The whole lyrics is us and J Hope communicating.
Yea! Best collab of the year thus far!! I also had teary eyes… God.. I wonder what RM would come out with before his military service if jhope collab with j Cole gah… I had this on repeat a few times already
i kind of live sheltered. dont really step outside of my zone. hearing these two was probably my favorite collaboration. two artists that i feel were 'smooth like butter' lol
I’m not so familiar with rap, but your response and interpretation … dam I got it. The lyrics are so deep, especially from Jcole, hit me like a brick.Nice👏🏿❤️
Hi Anthony hope your well. JCole is Hobi's muse that inspired him from the very beginning. This is a 'dream come true' for JHope. They met at Lallapalooza and JCole said let's do a song together. I think the footage on on JHopes Disney + Documentary. 🙂💜
JCole has been the source of inspiration for jhope..Jcole is his muse..and he mention JCole in his verse on BTS Song: Hip Hop Phile "Hope hope world, before I built my own world, there was Cole world When he lit up Friday night, I became more inspired to write my own music"
Idk if the chat told you in twitch but JCole is Hobi’s idol. J-hope’s name & song Hope World is inspired by JCole/Cole World. The guys did a cover/adaption of Born Sinner (called Born Singer) back in 2013 but got permission to use it for Proof Album last year so that was the first contact. Then at Lolla, Hobi & Jimin met JCole. Hobi said he was working on this since Oct/Nov & this is his thank you/see you later song for Army before he goes into the military in the next month or so.
You can see there are two Worlds 🌎 Jhope's World is heartfelt for Armys who love him and he trust 💜 that's Hope World 🌎 J.Cole's World is the coldest to fight against his competitors still now looking at the Top list to eat. That's Cole(cold) World 🌎
The billboard says …It’s my Call….my theory is that it refers to J Hope …he’s the one that made the decision to enter the military at this time….without interference from anyone….it’s also his goodbye song to army’s
In the documentary about j hope on disney+, we can see a meeting with j cole during lollapalooza, probably where the first talks about collaboration began.

Oh the wisdom.. .. JCole’s lyrics unbelievable since this is the second J Cole song first one born sinner cuz of BTS.. I ended listening to the lyrics of J Coles!!!! He’s genius!!!
COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR🔥💯
I loved this reaction.
제이홉 또 일냈어요.
음악성으로 세상을 뒤집네요.
대단하고 놀라운 천재적인 음악성
클라스가 다른 아티스트 🤣🤪💞💕💕💕💕💞💞💕
Yea! Best collab of the year thus far!! I also had teary eyes… God.. I wonder what RM would come out with before his military service if jhope collab with j Cole gah… I had this on repeat a few times already
Hobi is in the same alley that Cole shot his music video for Simba in 2007. The cinematography of the two sequences is also identical 💜
Thanks for letting us know!
This is so BEAUTIFUL..RESPECT AND GRATITUDE….
J-HOPExJ-COLE 🔥
This is DESTINY….🥰
What I love more about this collaboration it's that, it's not FT. someone, it's with someone, both have their part and at the end together
i kind of live sheltered. dont really step outside of my zone. hearing these two was probably my favorite collaboration. two artists that i feel were 'smooth like butter' lol
I’m not so familiar with rap, but your response and interpretation … dam I got it. The lyrics are so deep, especially from Jcole, hit me like a brick.Nice👏🏿❤️
Anthony I have been looking for your reaction. I was wondering where you were. This is the collab of the year. Love this!
Hi Anthony hope your well. JCole is Hobi's muse that inspired him from the very beginning. This is a 'dream come true' for JHope. They met at Lallapalooza and JCole said let's do a song together. I think the footage on on JHopes Disney + Documentary. 🙂💜
There is a board in j.cole sence it's write "it's my call" that's represent jhope's military enlistment 🥲💔
Also J.Cole's thinking about ending his musical career...
Nosso sol ,sempre nos dando orgulho e música boa ,amuuuii vc J-hoop
JCole has been the source of inspiration for jhope..Jcole is his muse..and he mention JCole in his verse on BTS Song: Hip Hop Phile
"Hope hope world, before I built my own world, there was Cole world
When he lit up Friday night,
I became more inspired to write my own music"
The 80s - 90s vibes in this MV suit well with J Hope Avirex Jacket. But J Cole (You see a top ten list, I see a golden corral) bars so 🔥🔥🔥
I confirm it. The collab of the year!!!
Was waiting for you, kinda teared up while watching coz you're one of the few reactors that get it!
Hobi said he was working on this since Oct/Nov & this is his thank you/see you later song for Army before he goes into the military in the next month or so.
he is a huge army bro he knows
Anthony's reaction always cool for me for every BTS MV and song.On The Street for me The Best💜💜
These farewell collaboration songs are a match with each BTS personality.
I've been waiting for this reaction all day, cause I know you, and how you respect the 24hr rule so, I've been lurking 💜.
J J🔥🔥
I love your reactions!
You can see there are two Worlds 🌎
Jhope's World is heartfelt for Armys who love him and he trust 💜 that's Hope World 🌎
J.Cole's World is the coldest to fight against his competitors still now looking at the Top list to eat. That's Cole(cold) World 🌎
Una tremenda colaboración esto es un temazo 🔥 🎶🎵 gracias Jhope gracias Cole
The billboard says …It’s my Call….my theory is that it refers to J Hope …he’s the one that made the decision to enter the military at this time….without interference from anyone….it’s also his goodbye song to army’s
J-Hope espetacular perfeito essa música só me lembrei que ele vai para o exército 💔🪖🌞💜🫰.
Tá tudo lindo nosso solzinho merece
I love this collab so much!... I´m so happy, I love J.Cole!...
I was excited when they met at the Lollapalooza... I prayed for this collab!
In the documentary about j hope on disney+, we can see a meeting with j cole during lollapalooza, probably where the first talks about collaboration began.
Loved writing this with them!
