I went to Delhi 3 months ago and they tired to do the same thing to my partner and I. Fare was 600 but tried to charge 1000 at destination. But we really put our foot down and said NO. Paid 600 and walked away

As an Indian, i simply avoid the private taxi and always use Uber/Ola. It's simple, cheap & hassle free.
But 100rs is not much (You basically get 1 Litre petrol for it - 7-10 km of car travel in city is possible with 1 litre of petrol)

    • @AlwaysonaJourney

    Airtel sim:
Includes data..so it would be ur settings needs updating mostly “international data roaming” should be enabled.
    For Taxi:
You got scammed … prepaid taxi no need to pay extra. u can complain to the Prepaid taxi desk ( phone number should be on bill u got). I take Meru / Mega from desk outside ariport exit door, little costly but they r better service nice cars tracked etc and no isssue as you only pay at counter outside airport. Uber ( no desk ) is far inside need to walk cross 3 roads to reach “App based Taxi” location ( sign clearly marked on boards ) where u can get ride.
Food : I would not eat on streets unless its famous place ( hygiene issue ) Quick snacks I would try Uttapa ( veg pan cake ) Idli & Vada ( rice and lentle donuts ) Samosa ( fried spicy potato )

Majority of places in India uses digital UPI payments...if you want change, then you can ask any nearby shops autodrivers or stalls will not have...Also since you are in Delhi the hub of scammers, say a firm no and put your foot down do not let anyone scam you be it rickshaws or sellers . Indian street life is like survival or fight of the fittest

@@kerryberry5786 That's your mentality of India being a poor country when it was your ancestors who looted India for 200 yrs. Currently, India's economy is much more than UK even after 200 years of colonial loot.
I think you should focus on UK. 20% of the population has gone below the poverty line in the last 5 yrs and your NHS system is going from bad to worse.

This is a very good list, but I see foreigners are less open to visit these areas as they usually stuck to Tak Mahal etc and hence they go back with a perception that India is just a dusty dirty country. What they don't know that there's a reason why it's called the Indian subcontinent. Its full of mountains, beaches, snow and forests with some really beautiful off beat places with better services than cities and way cleaner with less noise
