  • Arriving at Delhi Airport India from the UK. We had a few issues regarding mums mobility walking chair, but other than that, we arrived in Delhi. In this video, we tell you a few important things you need to know as a foreigner arriving in India.
You must fill in the immigration card before going to immigration. You can get the form either on the plane or use it before immigration. Make sure you have the right visa. Once you pass immigration, you are ready to collect baggages and exit. You may find it easier to get a SIMCARD at the airport. Right next to Costa coffee, you will find the airtel office where you can purchase your SIM card. We paid 450 rupees for a 30-day card. However, the card we were given at the airport did not activate, and we had to go to one of the local offices in Delhi to sort out the problem. There seemed to be a problem with the expiry date, so check this if you buy your SIM card at the airport.
The next very important piece of advice is to AVOID the taxi touts who will most definitely overcharge you. Head to the pre-paid taxi counter. In our video, I show you exactly where this is. Hope you find this useful. The next video coming soon about our first day in India and crashing into a pothole!! Make sure you subscribe to our channel to watch it first.

Thank you. Very helpful. I was dreading the simcard purchase after reading all kind of stuff on the internet. Will make sure to check the expiry date.

      expiry date is irrelevant
the sum that u pay for in the bginning is for validity. which pushes the validity to 30 days of usage it will be active after 30 but without incoming
u can always renew it for validity (within 60 days)
since tourist sims have max active period of 60 days (Which is the max duration india provides tourist visas)
so within 60 days u can re recharge ur sim for use again.

One of the best videos about arriving in Delhi on TH-cam. Really helped me about how to get WiFi, sim card and other things. Thanks a lot! Quick question: how long did it take for the sim card to get activated? I'll be arriving in Delhi on May 30.

Thanks so much, we are so glad you found our video helpful, it took us around 2 days to get it activated because they sold us a faulty one at the airport. But usually if everything is fine should take a few hours.

Stumbled upon this video while searching for info. on how to obtain a cell phone number and SIM card.
Rs. 450 for unlimited calling across India and 1.5 GB of data per day for 30 days. Is that right? Do they also give an Indian phone number with the SIM? Can we use the SIM in an unlocked phone from abroad (US/Canada/UK) without an issue?

    • @travelingbambinos

No we actually had a problem with the sim so we went to the nearest branch of airtel and they managed the issue. After that it took a few hours to get activated.

@@travelingbambinos ya ignore such idiotic comments. That guy is total ignorant if not idiot to make such comments. Happy to see your kids are smiling throughout the video, my daughter started crying when she came out of the airport due to hot weather. ya but next minute she was happy to chase a stray dog and tried petting.
And video is useful, I'll get eSIM from airport this time.
