"You will never go on a cruise again after this video.."
Man I was never going to leave dry land in the first place, so this is perfect for me.
Lmaoooo, unfortunately for me my friends have already payed for the majority of my cruise ticket for a group vacation... so I just gotta hope to god it goes swimmingly
Bon voyage
I watched this video with an empty stomach. My hunger faded away
Great idea to start a Diet, Every time you feel hungry think in the Poop Cruise
Same
I'm going in with a full stomach
Skill issue, I watched this while eating lunch😈

*Professional cleaners:* There's not nearly enough money in the world to pay me to clean this ship...
*Cruise company:* Well what are we supposed to do!?
*Cleaners:* Burn the ship, *Burn It All!*
I mean at that point yea
We still will but this is biohazard cleaning you need to pay for self contained suits and machinery
P.S. this is the kind of sanitation that pays bank
I ain't sharing poop space with old people. I'd rather give the fishes a gift of turd than poop in plastic
Hey man, you know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure. I'm sure the captain didn't want to give all that -
Okay I'm not continuing that joke, it sounded better in my head. Jesus Christ, where did that even come from?
@@YTDariuS-my6dg I'll do you one better:
Do you know why their situation was so catastrophically bad?
That's because they didn't have a *poop* deck.
Know what sea life eat in certain areas of the ocean that would have most likely been a better idea...
"Put them on cruises and sink them." - So, Bill Burr's idea is gaining some traction, I see.
I remember some story about an old couple who decided to spend their retirement on those yearly Cruise ships as apparently that’s cheaper than living in a retirement village
Just imagine... You are one of a team of cleaners hired to clean the entire ship. Oh no....
From what stories I have heard, those who are paid to clean awful things are used to most disgusting smells and scenes which means they are likely used to fully smelly scenes.
@@mixednarwhal Well... Yep. Understandable. I know some people who clean up crime scenes. I heard some really BUYYWEEEGGGHHUUUGUUUHHHHHH stories from them.

Taking the poop deck to a new meaning
Alana the Snow Cat's outro basically summed up the whole cruise situation.
Alana's outro really fits this video in particular
Mythbusters debunked that cellphone igniting gas at the pump nonsense a loooooong time ago lol
Yes the voltage is too low
in theory you could have a spicy pillow just pick that moment to combust, but that could happen at any time at random anyway. my opinion is that it is more likely a psychological play. "don't use your phone you might explode" is more convincing than the actual reason, that being if you are looking at your phone you are not watching your car for anything going wrong.
i was once using a pump while reading discord on my phone and i don't know what went wrong, it never happened again; i was filling my car and i heard a sound, i looked around and there was a pool of fuel forming under my vehicle, i stopped the pump and got the situation taken care of. to this day i have no idea how that happened, i am sure that the nozzle was in the tank, i visually verified that after stopping the pump. the vehicle went to a mechanic the next day, while they did find an issue with my vehicle (loose wind shield) they were not able to find an issue with the fuel system and its never happened again.
TL:DR even if its not for explosion risks, using your phone at a pump is probably not a good idea, it doesn't have to be your spark if you are dumping fuel on the floor.
yurp, your more to start a fire with a static electric that you been buildin up in the car before start pumpin gas
@@flanigomikSure, but that's why you don't take your phone out until _after_ you put the Nossle in, yah dingus. 😂
The fact they renamed the ship makes it even MORE cursed! Renaming a ship is considered bad luck.
If must have been something electrical that ignited the fuel. Diesel fuel isn’t flammable the same way gas is. It’s combustible but it’s much harder to catch on fire.
I deal with burnt out cars all the time and when it comes to diesel engines, it's pretty much always electrical.
it also would beg the question of _who the fuck would smoke in a room filled with diesel up to their ankles_
There is like a 0% chance anyone with the braincells to get a mechanic job on a ship would try crossing that with embers in their hand.
Another example of why we never should let companies "regulate themselves"
I might still consider a river cruise. Being stranded in the middle of a river is a lot more tenable that being stranded in the ocean.
The Mississippi, sure. The amazon or nile, hell no.

Yep, checks out.
The pure, feral joy of hearing CNN anchors saying the phrase "Poop Cruise" is just *chefs kiss.*
The poop deck was definitely the poop deck 🤣🤣🤣
Well... Shieeeeet... As a tech engineer, i find it specially scary to rely on ONE machine for EVERYTHING. Mad respect for my sea- and air- based brothers. But I'm glad I work on land.
Her outro fits amazingly with this video.
That's why you bring an e-reader, 3 months of power and many gigabytes of books and manga.
Honestly the main reason that people historically went on cruises is that its the best bang for your buck you can get in terms of a vacation. Its usually something like $80-140 a day for a mid range ship, while a comparable all expenses paid vacation tends to start at around $300 a day and they're also not all expenses paid because obviously they're gonna weasel out of that. The overall prices tend to be similar, but cruises are normally 1-2 weeks while vacations are usually arrive and depart within a three day period.
I know some retired couples who, pre 2020, spent most of the year on cruise because it was honestly cheaper.
The last time I went on a cruise was just before the varus showed up. I came back with adult chickenpox
Man, he sure got me with that diesel engine story XD
I love cruises! Don't let these rare incidents dissuade you from having a great time at sea!
So you could say that this was a shitty cruise
Rarely was Alana's outro as fitting as in this case 😂
was about to say the same. basically sums up the entire vid
6:09 it's not the phone that can ignite the fuel, it's that static electricity you potentially generate when not in contact with your vehicle or the pump
I'd still rather go on a cruise and get stranded for a week than be stuck inside for a year because of a virus.
I mean that brings a whole new meaning to the term poop deck honestly
Recall there was also noro-virus cruise, people got infected, because a family with a child sick with noro-virus, who either coughed at the food or being child who touched the food. Almost everyone got infected, vomiting and diarrhea, the ship got quarantined and everyone were stuck on the ship.
The cruise owners noticed the signs of spreading infection and ignored them, because money.
Lolol when I was unable to pay my water bill I had to use a bag too, but at least I had that good ol Harbour freight bucket. I feel bad for them, red bags but no red buckets.
Papa Nurgle likes this cruise line.
I can see the nurglings dancing around that ship now.
0:36 That's how they pronounced it on an episode of the Real Ghostbusters. "The Collect Call of Cthulhu".
the wavers don't cover negligence, the lawsuit shoulda stuck.
Contracts are only enforcible if a judge agrees
As someone who been on maybe 5-6 cruises. There is some truth in the bad comody, and repeat songs but in the trips i taken i dont think it was bad like its made out to be sure thousands of people on a floating tomb, but from what i experienced it wasnt bad. Bingo though was CRAZY expensive.. 40.00 for 1 card..
I’m sorry can we just talk about how adorable and amazing Alana’s into is? I love it sm 🥰
only cruise I would consider is 60000 tons of metal. but that's more a metal music festival than a cruise.
ok, I looked this up, this was 2013, most devices charge at sub 15 watts, and most small generators do 1500-2000 watts, so SAFELY 100 devices could be plugged into one generator, and as long as the cabling is sufficient/can handle 1500 watts though it, its a non issue, most fire hazard is from overloading a VERY old cable, or from just exposed prongs from them sagging off of the wall.
I actually sailed on the triumph a couple years before this happened crazy to think that the same cruise that I enjoyed and had a blast on became a living hell for some people
This guys sponsor food looks exactly as the food I can buy at my local store. Probably a lot cheaper too.
# 0001 I remember back when it happened I was driving down Water St. to visit my aunt to which Water St. is the street where they have the Carnival as well as the other boats and such docked there. I remember at the traffic light, there was a faint bad smell to which I assumed it was our sewage that was let out somewhere. When I got to my aunt's house and saw the news, that was when they were talking about that Carnival ship and that they had to make an emergency dock at our port. To which that the reporters had explained all the details as to what had happened from like being stranded out at sea to the poop incident and that they had to get tugboats and the Coast Guard and everything to rescue them. I was shocked to say the least
So the thing about the dialysis thing is that its extremely common for older people and people like that to go on cruises. Many cruises even advertise medical capabilities to support and aid such people. There's been a few news articles over the years about how its possible to cruise how and spend all year on cruises and still be cheaper than a retirement home.
Part of the reason it's popular is because it's ultimately a confined space filled with staff who are very good at dealing with old people. So, if your partner is losing their marbles, you don't have to accompany them 24/7 because it's okay to leave them in the cabin for a while without worrying. There's a full medical staff and the route is plotted with helicopter access in mind for emergencies.
Also it doesn't take a lot of time so they so it's within their capabilities that the medical services offered is enough for the trip
Passenger: it was very wrong, there was so much doodoo feces everywhere and all over the wall
*captain leans in with crap eating grin*
Captain: it was me~ I was the guy who smeared doodoo feces on the walls *raises eyebrows twice*
12:24 cruise ships and most other large vessels have a fully equipped hospital and doctors onboard with the equipment to deal with pretty much any medical matter from a passenger or crew whether through illness or injuries, I'd imagine that may include a dialysis machine for just this sort of thing, but without power the machine would be next to useless.
Passenger: this Cruise sucks
Me: no sh*t!
By the way, renaming a ship is considered to be bad luck on the level of killing an albatross that's following your fishing boat.
Weird fact: I hate watching the titanic because when the captain dies, I get super sad. Not because he didn’t deserve his fate, but because he looks like my step father whom I care about way too much. So I get way too sad when I see it lol
12:30 A lot of old people live on cruise ships as permanent passengers. It's possible the ship had facilities to take care of her need or she had something scheduled at a stop but, no power to run the machine or get to the stop.
There's no way I would ever board a cruise
Im no gonna sugar cote it.
That is some shitty ass cruise.
And imagine if the shit got ignited.
This was the same company that hired a painter and cleaner whose English and Italian were rudimentary at best to helm _Costa Concordia_ . Yeah, they operated as cheap as possibly.
Carnival also owns Cunard, since the shipping line that once competed with White Star, NDL, Amerika-Hamberg, and the US Lines was struggling badly before they bought it. That means their fleet includes _RMS Queen Mary 2_ . Fortunately she's operated according to Cunard traditions, not Carnival's.
Worked gas stations for years... you can ignite gas fumes with static sparks, opening/shutting doors on car, as well as cell phones (especially if connected to charger or aux).
These are all very unlikely... but they are all a risk none the less.
(And once a month, I find a person smoking relativity close... usually a friend of the pumper standing 5-10 feet away (or a pumper waiting)...
Again, relativity low chance of ignition, but still a chance you shouldn't take.
I never expected the outro to fit this well into a video 😂
Mobile has a population of about 200,000 people. They couldn't have found them hotels in town if they'd tried, they couldn't have had the capacity for 4,000 people out of nowhere.
This guy's video was somehow both too lighthearted about the situation, and too critical of it at the same time.
Idk what the thing is with Alanas outro about piss other than funny, but I was expecting her to say “poop? Not piss cruise?”
“It’s called the poop deck Lois, that’s why I pooped there.”
My dad worked on an American cruise ship. The crystal of the sea or whatever it was. I've apparently been to all the major capitals of the world, but I was a small child. Anyway, I'd probably go on one of these in spite of such things because unforeseen events happen sometimes. 95% of the time, nothing bad happens and it's smooth sailing. The only creepy thing about cruise ships is that they have their own morgues. Old people like to die on the ships, a final voyage to have a good time before kicking the bucket. If you've been on a cruise, likelihood is someone died and they had to covertly roll the body into the big freezer.
How do these companies stay in business? I'd never use a cruise for any reason. Not to mention I'm petty and vindictive enough to look for the board members
I heard the "not supposed to use cell phones as gas pumps" at 5:50 and get flashbacks to Mythbusters disproving exactly that and now I know that was 10 years ago now and feel old ;-;
-So glad being grossed out doesnt effect my hunger in the slightest. This is the sorta thing to make ke angry for life... even when happy i would just be haunted by that cruise for the rest of my life
-ngl, had no idea alabama was an ocean state like florida
to be fair on the bussing them to new orleans thing there probably wasn't enough hotel space in Mobile to accommodate 4000 people unless they sold out every bargain basement fire hazard motel in town, and also I'd much rather end up in new orleans after all that anyway, at least then I could get a decent drink.
to add to that, Mobile was not the intended stop they probably grabbed whatever was available and just hoped the ship was close by when it got there
This gives me more of a reason to never go on a cruise
She is right about the idea of dumping in the sea. That's exactly what people would do in the past, shit in a bucket and throw the content of the bucket overboard.
Dangerous to admit, but i live in Alabama, so i heard ALLLL about this when it happened. It was the only thing on any news station. Made my family agree to never go on a cruise
Thats crazy. Ive been on cruises since i was a kid and this has never happened to me. Ive heard of other issues, like fighting and sexual misconduct, but hearing this is unreal😂. But if those generators are as old as i am, it kinda makes sense that they failed without proper maintenance. But still yikes.😂
About phones and gas stations, apparently there's little evidence that can happen. The FCC says while it might be possible theoretically, the chances of it happening are remote. What actually is a danger is static discharge, so just turn the car off while fueling and don't smoke and you'll be fine.
Also for me, books would have helped. I read fast, but if I had enough I'd be ok.
Tourette's guy : HOLY SHIT!
C'thulu/ Cthulu/ kthulu is pronounced k'tu-lu. Technically the is a very quick and getting h sound like in here. Comes from an old English speaking, like Thomas or even how it is said in German in words like thousand or Beethoven.
Poop boat
Through most of the video I'm like "yeah I might still risk it and go on a cruise" until finding out that they can't be held responsible for their own failures. That's what deters me.
The outro is very appropriate to the video
Never has the outro been more appropriate!
A Dantavius reaction!? Immaculate.
Interesting... I wonder if we could find a way to get a bunch of Twitter/X users who do nothing but make other peoples lives miserable on a cruise ship, and then conveniently have that ship meet an unfortunate accident. 🤔I mean they can't do anything about it if they sign the paper right?
As bad as the situation was, I'd rather endure a shitty cruise than be INCINERATED!!!!!!!! 😮
That outro is appropriate.
The ending outro has never been more appropriate 😂
I can't stand these ads where they try to pass off a tv dinner as real food. if you microwave your food you're wrong
Thats a fitting sponsor for a video :D
I’ve been on a few cruises and everyone I’ve been on one they are a lot of fun. It sucks like stuff like this happens but it’s not common otherwise no one would go on them. I’d still recommend them but just find some good solid cruise lines
"she's laughing but this is not funny"
It's kinda funny
I kid you not, I actually was on this ship on the first voyage after this incident when I was 20 and met someone who was on it when this all happened! He downplayed the absolute hell out of what happened, which in hindsight I appreciate since I'd wig out if I had found out the full story. I can't believe I didn't know anything! No wonder it was so freaking cheap!!
Fixing most of the toilets was as easy as airlifting a generator and it took them four days to do that!!?
I find it mildy amusing whenever people bring up the "Cellphones can ignite Gasoline fumes."
Lol, no. The Mythbusters tested this back in 2003. Cellphones cannot do that, you can be in a room filled with the proper mixture between Gasoline Fumes and Oxygen to create an explosion, and nothing will happen if get a call or turn on your phone.
It's "ct-HUL-hu", he said it right.
Soft fluffy fox ears ❤
I live in Mobile, Alabama, and that man is right, it sucks here
What kind of nerd brings a book on vacation
This would have been significantly less drastic by simply having a backup generator, no?
So they turned a ship into San Francisco.
Royal Caribbean doesn't seem to have all these kinds of problems
Did she just suggest projectile pooping!? What!?
alana's song is inspired by this cruise
Carnival has the Titanic clause
The fact that this ship was called the Triumph is insanly funny
The one time I went on a cruise with my parents seemed to be fine for the most part. Then again, we weren't on a cruise run by Carnival, but by another company. Even the ship comedian for our cruise took a jab at Carnival 🤣 by calling it Harm-ival. Before we even boarded the cruise ship, every single person had to do a quick medical checkup at the check-in area & get asked about our conditions, any current illnesses, etc. Also that part in the contract is wild to me because yes, you can't 100% guarantee that stuff goes smoothly (which is what confuses me about "no guarantee", since 99% isn't "no guarantee"), but people are paying for a relatively smooth & problem-less experience (plus they're on vacation), so they'd be expecting that at least all those things listed in the contract are in working order before the ship leaves port & gets fixed in a timely manner if it breaks partway through (as well as you can at sea, anyways).
Shit happens at sea. There is shit all you can do if pirates show up, could run into a sea mine, could get mistaken for a warship by some navy, could have some kind of outbreak, could be a rouge wave or massive storm out of nowhere, could be a design flaw/structural issue that nobody knew about and many more. pretty much all of that is fadingly unlikely to happen, but it has happened, and for some that i listed more than once. That's before we get into things the company has anyway to control. The sea is a really dangerous place, and depending on where you are and how much trouble you are in, it can take a really long time before anyone can help you.
So the lesson here is just don't travel stay home because traveling by land you're likely to get in a crash or get carjacked and if you travel by air there's the likely hood of something bad happening in air and if you travel by boat there's pirates and many other bad things that could happen
As a gen mechanic, this saddens me.
