    I drive a 97 NL 3.5 and I get 630 kms a tank on highway and 500 kms mixed driving, also it has 33 MT's, roof rack, and bullbar. I also re-geared to 4.90's so my fuel economy stayed the same out of the factory. Dont forget to change your O2 sensor and coolant temperature sensor, 2 most common sensors to forget. These rigs are so underrated that people make fun of all the time but lasts longer than most of my friends newer diesels. They get to visit the mechanic more. lol.

    My 3.4L V6 hilux gets around 400km per 55L tank.
    I accept that my Hilux is a little underweight from your Paj, but that’s a huge difference in fuel consumption.

    DOT in the US did live testing demonstrations in the 70's that showed a dramatic increase in fuel economy by staying around 55mph on the highway. So if not in a hurry, you can save a good bit at the pump.

    Definitely agree with you about better fuel economy at slightly slower highway speeds.
    My 09 petrol Pajero trip computer tells me I get about 15L/100km at 110km/h, but it goes down to 12L/100km when I slow down to 80km/h. Like the drag co efficient increases exponentially as speed goes up or bla bla something like that..?? I think.

    Me highly modified 02 Pajero 3.2DID gets just over 1000km from a 90ltr tank.

    just a note on exhausts, they don't need back pressure,
    they need velocity to aid in the scavenging effect
    and also www.change.org/XXXXBitter

  • @xc8487
    @xc8487 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The backpressure part of the exhaust is a myth, what your aiming for with a properly sized system is scavenging correlating with the engine's powerband. Too big a system slows the gases and pulses down and can be as useless as a stock system.

  • @wazza33racer
    @wazza33racer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The higher the drag co-efficient of the vehicle, the greater the penalty. For a highway heavy truck, going from 90km/hr to 100km/hr uses 20% more fuel for distance travelled. Some 4wds would be in the same bracket for drag.

    I've got a 1998 Pajero v6 3500 with the 3,5 liter engine. Nearly fully loaded on highway I get around 12 liters with stuff on the roof. You should try an fuel additive. And I reckon my car saves arvo 1 liter on 100 when I fill up with U95. You also save fuel with better engine oil. And better engine coolant. Have a good one👌⛽

    • @ryanjohnson6990
      @ryanjohnson6990 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep cos the money you saved on your 1L/100 you can add your additives, which then means your back at the start $ wise if not more out of pocket
      Who gives a rats how much fuel your using, so long as your getting out there and having fun who cares??

    • @user-vw4hv4dj4e
      @user-vw4hv4dj4e 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ryanjohnson6990 yeah m8. I've just had issues previously with u91 with my car. Smh bad fuel down in Melbourne. Had misfires so changed to u95. Makes such a huge difference. And every 10k a fuel additive keeps your car running smoothly.

  • @aslkdfjhg
    @aslkdfjhg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'll say it, there is no evidence of snorkels actually improving fuel economy. It may increase peak power if you're ecu permits that air rate, but if anything it adds drag to the front of the car. There real advantage raising the intake to prevent sucking in water and mud when you drive into a mud rut or crossing and water goes across the bonnet.
