I did use it for some time but then alot of people going there did destroy alot when harvesting small parts....... but the one I did use was filled with cars from other dismantles and all of it was not complitly a car at arrival ... but fast price.
They won’t sell cars out of the yards anymore… I tried to rescue a stupidly rare car (one of about 20 every imported), a 3 door Megane 2 with a glass roof that was super straight and clean. They refused to sell at any price, claiming liability concerns or some crap…. Back in my uni days I made a decent amount of rent money by rescuing good classic Peugeots from these yards and fixing them up and selling as registered cars.
Ive never been to other Australian wreckers, or any wreckers really (holden car meets dont count 🤣) New series idea. Go to every states biggest and best wreckers, rate it, and make a tier list.
Laughing coz that old Rangie in the intro is also a rare beast in these big wreckers these days like the jumbuck! I was there a couple weeks ago and raided it lmao. I’m in a bit of a niche as a young guy into old range rovers, but I guess you have to jump on those kinds of opportunities sometimes because their pricing on stuff can be quite good. 10/10 vid. It’s sad to see those kinds of unreliable cars owned by innocent people like the VE’s and 318i’s with shit engines that probably just let go with no notice.
I loved dropping rubbish off at the tip (1976 to before the change) There were cars that I would raid. Fuses, switches, wiring and anything I could use or give to mates. One time I saw a rear end damaged XY sedan being dropped off. I went straight off to get a trailer. Took it home and stripped it of anything not damaged. I waited a decade (fuel crisis) and made a good penny.
You remind me of me loving junk yards in the 1990s. Obviously, the cars were very different back then. but the unique smell of wet rotten auto carpet will stick with me forever.
Last time I went to Jolly's about 8 years ago there was a sign at the entrance with all these do's and don'ts regarding how to conduct yourself when amongst the cars. One of the items was don't have sex in any of the cars there. No kidding.
The Toyota in Aussiland did have a solid axle in front many of them but USA or Europe did not have that. The Chrysler Town & Country or Voyager.... was it a diesel or did not diesel come to Aussiland in those cars...... really nice as a diesel.
Wreckers aren't like they used to be. Now days they're owned by overseas interests and all the good parts get piled up into sea containers and sent overseas. You can't go in and pick your own parts, most times mechanical parts won't be sold as they're sent overseas, and they won't take panels off for you. If you're lucky enough to find a aussie owned wreckers that aren't shipping parts overseas you can buy parts.
The last wrecking yard I went to was like 3 years ago and I was like a kid in a candy store. It was almost on par with Flynns wrecking yard and There were Probly was 1500 or more chrome bumpered gems. Not much stuff past about 1995 tho. I’m 40 and it took me right back to when I was a kid in the late 80’s and early 90’s helping the old man hunt down early holden stuff. The Old bloke who ran it was pretty cool but passed away about 2 year ago and everything got crushed which saddened the shit outa me because there were definitely quite a few saveable cars there and shitloads of banger hard to find bits and the guy would shout us a beer sometimes. Rip Kelley ✌️
Yea the XF had the 4.1 crossflow, the XG had a 4.0 SOHC, EA had the 3.2 and 3.9 SOHC and EB/ED/EF/early EL had pretty much the same 4.0 SOHC as XG, then low and behold the AU spawned in with the 4.0 SOHC intech
Hate to tell you, or maybe you'll be overjoyed to hear, but the 'muricans did get Magnas although they didn't call them that. I think they may have even got some 380s in the latter days, bless their souls.
Wreckers up here in Queensland are overpriced you can get aftermarket parts cheaper. Many years ago went to the wreckers with my brother-in-law and he's showed me a back seat in a car and he offered them a hundred dollars this is back in the 80s they wanted $300 he said no I'll be right thanks and he said look at it now being at the weather for a couple years it was worth nothing
For falcons for what I remember xd xe had the 3.3 and 4.1 and the clevo, xf had the 4.1 efi, ea had the 3.9 efi, eb ed ef el had the sohc and winsor, au had the intech and winsor, ba bf had the barra and the boss motor, fg, fgx had the barra and the miami motor
Don’t forget the 3.2 ohc in the EA. The 3.9 came in 2 versions in EA - the central fuel injected version (like a carby with a big fuel injector in it) and the optional (std on some levels like Ghia) multi-point (6 injectors) which eventually became standard. XE had the option of a very basic Bosch Jetronic EFI on the 4.1L which gave more power & torque, but not much in the way of an economy improvement. It wasn’t until Ford’s own EEC4 system on the XF that the EFI 4.1 got what it deserved.
@commodorenut the xf 4.1 is a peice of shit spent 3 months trying to get one to run replaceing all the vac lines ect there shit cause of the economical stuff but once you remove that there not too bad
Nah... The best was "picknpayless" in Blacktown. The last of the self serve car yards of Sydney. If you pulled the part off yourself, you would save heaps.
Hi there mate got cool looking cars there yes iam a ford fan I did a great EB Spack all ticket I worked at local car dealership in Tweed Heads N.S.W. it's was a great car I love it 4 .0 motor and this one had a 5 speed manual in it very rare . I live at Tweed Heads for 9years . I was that piss I park the falcon out backyard of the pub . and came back on a Sunday pick up my car and it was there the side class was on ground so the love affair for the EB was over I went bad to the old school cars again and don't fink I by any nice car again mate I did my a 2213 Holden Colorado and it be very good pick-up so far I did not like the Ford ranger or rapider are just to pricing for me mate I work a car dealer ship in the south Coast nsw and it was a Holden dealer ship for 27 years and how the lasts 2years its a ford dealership I wish the wall could talk the car like was the last commodore VF V8 MATE the V6 had a lots of problems with it . And the last falcon was fucking shithot looking it did not like the look I no people brought the last falcon still in plastic covers over them from Fatree . You keep up with the great work mate
Great content there, Nathan. Holden Captiva. are the most horrible vehicles ever, Bloody. built. Today I saw a mustard Coloured 80s, type Volvo Boxy. Horrendous thing today locally. I would have to wear an old bloody hat if I sat in a Volvo. Evil Lol 👀 🤣
The Proton Brumby they didn't make a lot of them but l see a few of them around Campbelltown N.S.W were l live and of course the Craptiva what an awful SUV they are one of the worse cars ever made apart from other cars made by Daiwoo in South Korea and Daewoo are no longer making cars l so happy to find that out
You're a wanker mate. I bought a 2008 VE omega, when I sold it early 2020 it had 360 plus kilometers on it never had the timing chain done. Things I had done to the engine was alternator, starter motor once set of plugs, break master cylinder engine, water pump and one serpent belt, engine mounts and radiator kbecause the pipe broke on the radiator when the mount broke). The mount broke in 2014 I burnt my eyes from the radiator and drove it to the hospital overheating the motor never did ahead gasket in it, I drove it for another 6 years and only with water in radiator after that. We use to tow a huge trailer, had to run the air con to keep the fan going otherwise the car would start overheating from the drag of the trailer. (If I waited for fans to come on) It didn't start getting oil leaks till it was in the 200,000 kilometers as I swapped from full synthetic to semi. If you look at the people who have trouble with the timing chains, you just know by looking at them. Cheers Graham
Maybe jolleys can buy the EF once you’re done with it
Haha that's nice Rex
😂
Who does this Rex guy think he is? How rude! 🤣😜
I love junkyards. that's an elite junkyard with concrete, in NZ we usually lie down in the oil puddles and stones. The 6g75 is a beast engine.
Oh don't worry I've never seen a junkyard in Australia with concrete either haha im used to as you described oil stained dirt and stones hahaha
Self serve car yards are a thing of the past here in Sydney. The last one in existence was "picknpayless" in Blacktown.....🙁
I did use it for some time but then alot of people going there did destroy alot when harvesting small parts....... but the one I did use was filled with cars from other dismantles and all of it was not complitly a car at arrival ... but fast price.

Im glad im not the only one that gets distracted at Jollies Dandy 😃
I wasn’t expecting much, but that was reasonably entertaining! Good vid.
All mighty MAGNA

That was fun, great comments had me laughing thanks
Been in a turbocharged Getz up in the Dandy mountains. It was way quicker than it had any right to be.
The Magna also went to America as the Diamante.
the magnas are called diamantes here in nz
yeah, the Galant and Legnum were different cars. similar platform, but not the same.
Magnas are in the US as well. Different name but built in a different plant then the Adelaide one.
@@_wallnutz_ what are they called in the states? Same as here in New Zealand, all parts are Aussie built, but assembled in factories in NZ
@@josephrepecki3777 Same name as in NZ I think.
Haha not surprised to see a proton there u used to see them around now there all dissapeared off the roads...wondered where they went

Wowie you must've smashed this whole video out start to finish today, looking at the weather as the video went on! Good effort
dont forget about straight pipe trumpet drone on the alloy techs
The proton jumbuck is based on the CC Lancer not CE.
Nah you need to go head over to any nz wreckers bro. Amount of rare cares and parts I seen working at zebra and pick a part is crazy
I’d agree we have some of the coolest engines here that the US can’t get without importing
Haha, what a pisser, love it! You are so right about Holden Captiva's, what sh1ttt! Much like Holden Cruise's, so bad! lol
magnas are diamantes in nz 🤙 but we also have alot of magnas floating around . usually they're the older shape ones tho

Magna was 3.0 then 3.5, they never had a 3.8 your thinking of a 380 . Early Magna had a 2.6 astron
Save a car from a junk yard!
3:34 you poor bugger, having to work on over complicated euro cars! 😂
4:13 could be worse it could of had the 4cyl petrol motor.
Cheers Pat
bloody hell looks like the ohs game has caught up from 20 years ago when I was there last🤣
I love jollies but imlachs is cheaper just harder and dirtier but still great.
Jolly's is the GOAT
love it 100% agree

Is it sad i recognised it was jollys by the walls and poorly maintained concrete floor
Easy on the B7. Its got a 1.8T with a timing BELT. Either way its a legendary motor in europe
have you worked on the 5.4l 3v?

Hey mate, any chance you can find a 3.2 vr6. It's so hard to find one!
America had the magna too as galant or some other name but most are crushed and gone now
This was a cool video

yep, ford guy, big time.
Damn I didn't know I was gonna catch strays as an Omega owner
I only own it cause it was my Grans before she passed
Nothing Wrong with them once you sort the timing chains out. Nicest looking Commodore made. And FAR better looking than any falcon EVER...
