Almost every man can relate to these lyrics. A woman you love slipping out of your hands and you are utterly powerless to prevent it. We've all had, or will have at least one obsessive, toxic relationship in our lifetime that everyone but you knows is just no good. Quitting this person can be like kicking a drug addiction; paranoia, anxiety, depression, even sweats, chills and nausea. And like a drug, even though it's poisoning you can make you feel more alive than anything else in the world.

I know nobody cares, but this song is so unbelievably powerful to me. The love of my life left me and got engaged to someone else a few short months after we broke up. That was right around the time I discovered this band. I'm in a really great relationship now that I see going to marriage and for life, but watching this video made me feel everything I did before. It's a strange feeling to love a song so much even though it makes you cry about something that happened so far in the past.

Me too!!!! I first heard this song many years ago on the radio while driving through Houston and I was balling so bad that I had to pull my car over!! But, unfortunately they never said the name of the song or who it was by! So, that was it! I heard possibly the best love loss song ever written and I would never hear it again, which made me cry more. Fast forward to a few months ago and I was looking for the song Goodbye Horses from Silence Of The Lambs, but instead of the original song coming up first, it was a cover by some crazy named band I never heard of called The Airborne Toxic Event. With a band name like that I had to click on it and see how it was. To my absolute delight, their cover was, in my opinion, better than the original. So, I looked through the rest of their playlist and saw this song. It had millions of views so I clicked on it and was absolutely thrilled to find this song again!!!! I grew up in the late 70’s and all of the 80’s, the music I fell in love with back then was and still is spectacular! Even so, I have to say I do believe this is the best damn song ever written!!! Everything about it is perfectly achingly painful and absolutely brilliant!!!!

Been listening to this song for more than 12 years and I never once noticed the lack of a chorus.

    Sometime Around Midnight"
    And it starts
    Sometime around midnight
Or at least that's when you lose yourself
    For a minute or two
    As you stand
    Under the bar lights
And the band plays some song about forgetting yourself for a while
And the piano's this melancholy soundtrack to her smile
And that white dress she's wearing, you haven't seen her
    For a while
    But you know
    That she's watching
    She's laughing, she's turning
She's holding her tonic like a cross
The room suddenly spinning, she walks up and asks how you are
So you can smell her perfume
You can see her lying naked in your arms
    And so there's a change
    In your emotions
And all of these memories come rushing like feral waves to your mind
Of the curl of your bodies, like two perfect circles entwined
And you feel hopeless, and homeless, and lost in the haze of the wine
    Then she leaves
    With someone you don't know
But she makes sure you saw her, she looks right at you and bolts
As she walks out the door
Your blood boiling, your stomach in ropes
And then your friends say "What is it? You look like you've seen a ghost."
    Then you walk
    Under the streetlights
And you're too drunk to notice that everyone is staring at you
You just don't care what you look like
The world is falling around you
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You know that she'll break you in two

      Get’s?
Since the apostrophe marks ownership or a missing letter, I’m curious as to what you mean...
Does “me everything” belong to “get”?
Get cannot own anything as get is a verb.
So I’m assuming get does not own me every time as ‘me everytime’ is not a noun and not able to be possessed.
In that case the apostrophe must be to mark a missing letter.
Get is me every time? Get us me every time?
      I’m confused.
      Gets*
I’m also an absolute arse for this but if someone learns then it’s worth it .

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith.
So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana".
I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly…
I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling.
He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car.
A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

    And it starts
    Sometime around midnight
    Or at least that's when
    You lose yourself
    For a minute or two
    As you stand
    Under the bar lights
And the band plays some song
About forgetting yourself for a while
And the piano's this melancholy sound check
    To her smile
And that white dress she's wearing
    You haven't seen her
    For a while
    But you know
    That she's watching
    She's laughing, she's turning
She's holding her tonic like a crux
    The room suddenly spinning
She walks up and asks how you are
So you can smell her perfume
You can see her lying naked in your arms
    And so there's a change
    In your emotions
And all of these memories come rushing
Like feral waves to your mind
Of the curl of your bodies
    Like two perfect circles entwined
And you feel hopeless, and homeless
    And lost in the haze
    Of the wine
    And she leaves
    With someone you don't know
But she makes sure you saw her
She looks right at you and bolts
As she walks out the door
    Your blood boiling
    Your stomach in ropes
And when your friends say what is it
You look like you've seen a ghost
    And you walk
    Under the streetlights
And you're too drunk to notice
That everyone is staring at you
And you so care what you look like
    The world is falling
    Around you
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
You just have to see her
And you know that she'll break you in two

The whole scenario where you’re watching each other trying to be low key but you just

I had a person like this. We check in once a year to see if we're still living. They're happily married with children. I don't feel bad about walking away. It was probably the best thing I could have done for them. This song doesn't make me feel the way it did when I first heard it. I just enjoy it now.

Almost 40 years ago my first true love broke my heart. I can still remember the pain I felt the first time I saw her with another guy. This song really captures the pain that you feel. The buildup is what makes the song.

“You just have to see her. You know that she’ll break you in two.” …. Powerful. He’s so real for that. The hold a single person can have over someone never ceases to blow my mind. If you can’t relate to needing to see someone and loving them even though they ruin your life you can consider yourself lucky.

13 year's old this song and I can remember where I was and what I was doing. I was letting go of an old friend, and I knew I wouldn't see them again. We both knew but stopped for a moment and listened. It was one of those moments where life was playing the soundtrack to your life as it happened. I forgot about it, and when I heard it again, it was like being in that place and time all over again. This song can cut you or it can open your eyes and you can duck and avoid the heartbreak. Yes a song can do that. 🤟✌️This song is epic.

Funny you mentioned this song came to you for it came to me as well since last night. Got side tracked looking for it. Great song. Brings back memories of loving someone to the core. Feel like it's meant to be, or have been with the person in a previous life or something, but they don't feel the same way(or deep down they do but won't admit it for some dumb reason), and worse yet they stab you in the back. Although it's painful. I think it's better to have gone through those emotions than to not feel anything at all. Without love you're pretty much dead. So I say bring it on. I'm ready to take my chances and get those emotions stirred up again. Even it breaks my heart again.

    • @roberttperez1153

Btw. I think they should have named the song something easier to remember and find. Even the bands name is hard to remember. At least to me it is. It's not the first time I've wanted to hear the song and for the life of me can't remember the name. I even have it in one of my playlists and it takes me a while to find. For I don't have it recorded in all my devices.
