the reason this song is so great is because the music is powerful and the lyrics sound like something a lot of us can relate to. damn, so much emotion.
I think this is one of the most well-written songs I have heard in ages. We can all relate to the pain of seeing an ex, and it is expressed more clearly than any song in recent memory. I love how it starts out slow and quiet and it builds and by the end he is screaming. Amazing imagery: "She leaves with someone you don't know, but she makes sure you saw her, she looks right at you with bolts. As she walks out the door your blood boiling your stomach in ropes." Talk about telling a story!
How sad. I have lived this life and it has been utter heartbreak. Thank you TATE for writing it and performing it so brillantly. Thank you. Randy R. Terry, Reno Nevada USA
Just because they have a violin, a white guitar and a crescendo!... This song is entirely different and brilliant. I had goosebumps all over the first time I heard it. No offense to arcade fire but wow this one is genius rip your heart out.
I just heard this song on the radio for the first time today. It sends shivers down my spine. This is what music is supposed to be like. I grew up with 80's new wave and alternative. It is great to hear REAL music again.
I am at a loss for words here....this song haunts you...kicks you right in the soul..all of the guys that this has happened too know what it's like...wow..great song and video...
This song is getting routinely played on 96.1 fm Grand Rapids, MI. This is an exceptionally well crafted song, showing off the writing talents of the lead singer, who is an aspiring novelist. Not your average song, it unfolds like a vivid story, captivating the listener every time.
I've listened to this song a gazillion times and I have to come back here every now and then to watch this video. It never gets old and it still gives me the chills. Then I heard Innocence, same thing. I saw and met them for the second time the other night and their performance of Echo Park had the same effect on me.
I am totally addicted to this song. From Ontario Canada and heard it first on Live 88.5 radio station. My new fav song. LOVE IT!!!!! Great tune, guitars are awesome and the song is so filled with emotion.
the lyrics are so easy to relate to, who hasn't been in that situation? they also show a huge knowledge of linguistics and wordplay, especially the line "what is it? you look like you've seen a ghost". that double meaning is intense. they remind me a lot of the smashing pumpkins, not so much in their musical style, but their lyrical style.
Just got the free download at Starbucks and was amazed that I had never heard of this band. Looks like I will be paying attention and purchasing additional tunes. GREAT SONG!!!
This is song is so raw and beautiful. I do prefer the other video. The lead singer (Mikel Jolette ). He really acts all that pain out on the screen. There is this scene where he is pulling pages from a book, and one of the pages said, "I know it's my fault." The camera is spinning all over the place, and she just waltzes in and out of scene like a beautiful ghost.
I love this band! I feel like a teenager, all gushy over them! I work at Barnes & Noble in the Music Department, This is one of our 'instore' plays..it's on ALL DAY! This band so sounds like, and reminds me of Stiv Bators and Lords of the New Church's early recordings. I have it on my ipod, at work, in the car..I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!
The song exemplifies-laconically the bitterness ,longing and sadness that engulfs people when a former lover is there with someone else. I can't stop listening to this!!!!
this song for me is such an undescribable emotion. that feeling of lust and lost. I love the nostaglia and heartache in his voice. It really defines for me those hot summer nights.
Just did an interview with these guys on Wednesday before they played a gig at Avalon. Really good people and they sounded awesome. Amazing song, much more intense than Lazy eye. I wish them all the best.
i just want to say that i listen to music alot form the 60's through now. and never NEVER have i ever heard of a rock song that sounded brillaint. most rokc songs involve BANG BANG BANG on drums. but this one makes you feel terrific. i support this band all the way. the world today needs more music like this.
i could watch this over and over, this guy is singing from experience. He stirs my loins. I'm going out right now to see if I can get a ticket to his show in SF at Bottom of the Hill.
i've heard this song a bunch of times on the radio and i never knew who sang it!!! and i sooooo love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! can't wait to see them at COACHELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This song is truely amazig, the sort of song most blokes can relate to. I bought the album purely off the back of this track and it is amazing too. Totally gutted that I didn't manage to get a ticket for their London shows.
Hello, fellow GR person! I'm originally from LA and miss listening to KROQ, who were brave enough to play this song before the band were even signed to a label. We finally caught on here, and 96.1 brings us new music (thank god).
Thank You Airborne for a reason to listen to the radio again. I grew up in the 80's and it's been a while since there has been so many great bands on the airwaves at one time.
I have never heard a song that can describe losing a true love like I did as much as this one has. This is beautiful. A mix of pain, love, and jealousy all in one. Perfect.
Well, they're playing at Lollapalooza this year....they're also playing in Des Moines and Minneapolis later this year, you NEED TO GO!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO pumped for seeing them Sunday at Summerfest!!!!!
This song hooked me the first time I ever heard it on my car radio It had me (47 years old) logging onto TH-cam the minute I got home to check out the vid. Just a chilling song that appeals to all ages. Just check out TATE's performance on Letterman. Even Dave digs this band.
Every time I listen to this song my heart melts. The music is superb and the lyrics are astounding. I do not know what is about the song that makes me listen to it over and over. It is a beautiful piece. It is in my Top 5 Favorites ;-).
This video so ultimately matches the music! It visually depicts the psychic frenzy the music embodies, far better than I would have ever imagined possible. I have watched this video over a hundred times, and every time, I am struck by how the visuals depict the emotional tone of this awesome song!
This is just splendid. According to the MTV2 blurb, the lyrics were originally intended for a novel. The singer was also going through serious personal turmoil too at the time.
you don't need music to feel your chest you know that your chest shouldn't depend on anything but how you feel about yourself be comfortable with who you are, that's maturity, that's beauty, that's living otherwise don't let the ethereal get you down. there's always someone with worse problems out there.
these are some of the nicest guys you will ever meet! so appreciative of everything. I worked a concert that they did for kroq at six flags and they were so nice to all the workers, i was just doing food catering but they wouldnt stop thanking us and saying how great the food was. I had heard the song before but didnt ever know who it was, and now i cant get enough of it.....ohh yeah and they put on one hell of a live show! good stuff!!!
I LOVE this song!! I love this video!! I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!! I probably watch this video 10-15 times a day now and I can't wait until the 28th when I finally get to see them live!!
I cannot add something new here. I just can tell how much I love this song! I have to tell all my friends how amazing The Airborne Toxic Event is :D Full support from me! :)
Well, I think you're drop-dead gorgeous! Your eye and body movements really captured the essence of the woman described in the lyrics. Kudos to you for an outstanding performance! IMHO, this video is way better than the new "official" one, and you're the reason why.
Wow! I just heard this song for the first time about two weeks ago and the fucking station on the radio never says the name of the artist when you want them to so I had been scouring the web to find them since and FINALLY!! What a great song!!! It just gets better everytime I hear it.
This song is so underrated.

God, this is an amazing song. So lyrically visual with a wonderful musical energy! Absolutely love everything about it!
I can relate to the song. Felt like the world was falling. Love the violin too. Adds to this great song.
Just because they have a violin, a white guitar and a crescendo!... This song is entirely different and brilliant. I had goosebumps all over the first time I heard it. No offense to arcade fire but wow this one is genius rip your heart out.

I am totally addicted to this song. From Ontario Canada and heard it first on Live 88.5 radio station. My new fav song. LOVE IT!!!!! Great tune, guitars are awesome and the song is so filled with emotion.
