I first heard this song in prison. Being in a concrete box in the middle of nowhere my radio would only pick up one station. Luckily that station played mostly indie rock. I still have the list of all the great, non mainstream music I discovered that year.
This song sometimes overwhelms me with nostalgia. And I get so sad, even thought I have these memories. I’ll never experience those again the way I did, then. Only here to make more, and relive this feeling. Longing and longing and longing endlessly
The actress is phenomenal. The facial expressions and emotions feel so authentic. The two buds at the conclusion are cool, they see her, the guy's dream girl, and they slowly slip out to somewhere else, leaving them privacy. Isn't all this music and love so good? 😊
That's one of the first things I noticed. His friends cordially got out of the way. But that's not what happens in reality. A good looking available girl is going to be hounded by jerks even if she clearly shows only an interest in the targeted male. But American girls won't settle on one. They will play the field.
She reminds me of many girls from ‘81-‘83 in the Orange County CA alternative scene. The director captured it perfectly, and the actress makes me want to return to that time, if only for a moment. This song is timeless and so great.
I was 14 when this came out... I wish I knew what I had and made the best out of it back then. The world just isnt the same anymore and this song just takes my mind back to the simple times.
U can't imagine how those of us who grew up in 80s -early 90s feel..no words to explain ..best time to be young..9/11 marked and was the start of an entirely different world humanity entered..its all been progressively downhill since..
I have searched for this songs for years now. I couldn’t remember the lyrics, couldn’t remember the band name. Like magic it popped up on my recommendations. 😭 so many memories.
exact same thing for me! I could remember the guitar riff and the first line but everytime I searched "I've been waiting for this moment all my life lyrics" into Google I couldn't find it. It's such a satisfying feeling when you finally find that song youve had it your head forever but couldn't recall the name of.

I know! Everyone's commenting about the nostalgia they feel. I can't wait to feel the same, I get the feeling that this song's going to stick with me for a long time. Sometimes you wish you'd met that person earlier, sometimes they come along at just the right time, you know?
As somebody in 2020 in their 50's. I discovered this song from Rock Band. That game gave me so many new types of music I could enjoy despite it not generally being made for folks my age. This song rocks.
Im also in my 50's I generally always have a look and listen to any bands I haven't heard off before when I'm on TH-cam. I've came across some cracking bands with some fantastic songs. Just like this one I suppose

love the retro sound of eclectic music. for me it was the early 90's with sonic youth. listened to a radio station in So. Cal 88.7 K.S.P.C Claremont College radio, had everything from Ska/Rocksteady, British Punk and Oi, along with Electronica themes..even had a Industrial shift.. yeah underground stuff. shgit, going on 50 this year where did the time go????
That's funny! I bought this album when it came out. Still in my collection. Heard this song countless times. This is the first time I've seen the video and until today, I never even knew there were male vocals on this track. 🤪 Still rocks tho
I didn't know the lead singer of goodbye horses Q Lazzarus was a woman until about a year ago when I was 38 years old. I felt both lied to and somewhat violated. However in my defense, in 1988 when Goodbye Horses came out originally I would not have been able to choose my own music and then when Buffalo Bill made it popular again every video I saw of the song was with him.
Agreed....but to me the lyrics are like an ephemeral dream that you wake from and try desperately to remember the details of but can't, leaving only a vague impression. But the impression is profound and stays with you all day.
I fell for a girl in my early teens, it was awkward and even though we tried we never made it but it haunted me well into my older life, I never got over her. She was that cliche 'the one' that stories are made of. 30 years later we found each other again and this time we made it right. I showed her this song and video early on, saying it reminded of me of our younger years and it instantly became our song. Once a week on her private playlist to remind her of fate. She left a year and a half ago, career came first unfortunately and I was apparently not part of it, even though I supported and cheer-leaded for her every step of the way. Watching this again tonight, I cried for the first time in many, many years. A grown man in his 40s sobbing over a love lost. The clip hurt more than the song.
You got her dude. Which is more significant than never getting her. I envy you so. I never got my “the one”. She’s still out there and I’m married now. But she will always be the one that got away. You did good man
It's got a strong shoegaze element to it that makes it seem like something that may have come out during the heyday of 90's shoegazing. Reckon these guys listened to a lot of My Bloody Valentine prior to making this album.
Highly underrated. Takes use Gen X’ers back to our day when their was such a good mix of music. This band could have fit right in the late 80’s/early 90’s and been huge. Really brings great memories even though it’s more modern. I still love this music and discovered them when they first came out
Uuummmm...ex-CUSE me? Silver sun Pickups is a Millennial thang. Either get your carbon dated correctly or get the f*CK back to your side w/The Gin Blossoms like a properly apathetic Zero🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ♠btw-1970-1980 is Gen X. 1981& after is Millennial.
This song was one that my ex-boyfriend and I used to love. It reminds me now of warmth and bed and sleep and comfort. We used to have it on repeat and fall asleep to it, then everything went to shit with us and I blocked it out of my head, until I stumbled across it today while sorting through my iTunes. Kinda strange how one song or a voice or certain lyrics can bring back so many memories of a specific time in your life, memories that haven't been unlocked for years. Just thought I would share it with you all as it's a very important song to me.
Biff Stukeley That's what good music does it brings things together, your story was sad but very heartwarming I do hope you find someone as warm and wonderful as your x, I wish you the best. Let the music take you away!!!!
its like, it makes me feel nostalgic for something I never experienced but someone else did, like a shared memory from a sea of memories that I cant recall but I know they're there.

Incredible video, direction, and song. I am a 53 year old guy and I appreciates the innocence and youth in this video. It has a 70's vibe but is yet modern in its presentation, very profound. Kids being kids. Ahhh to be young again . . . .
It blows me away to see this song getting the love it deserves, I use to wake up as early as I could to watch MTV before school so I could listen and watch music videos and 14 years later this song still sticks in my music library.
By far! I don’t know many people who have heard this song but I remember getting ready for school during middle school and seeing it for the first time on MTV. Loved it ever since. The whole song is underrated in my opinion
Indeed! Never came across this song until Spotify decided to add this to my recommendation list this week. And now the guitar riff is stuck in my head!
I first heard this the year it came out on The Subterranean block in the middle of the night on MTV2. It was the sound of the time. Hard to believe how many years have gone by. Where does the time go?
This just exploded in views and i could not be happier. Knowing that more people out there know and love this song than ever before is a very nice feeling
Love the way the drummer plays the entire song like it's a drum solo
God made man
man made drums
drums made gods
Lmao I had to watch. Poor drums, dudes bangin them like they are someone's mom
what an untrue statement
That's what Christopher does. He's the muppet Animal come to life. If you've not seen him/them live, you need to correct that!
Let me tell you about a man named Aaron Gillespie…
This song is pure nostalgia. Takes me back To the teen days when nothing mattered but being dumb, and enjoying the simple things of life.
I'm fifty and feeling it
We would all kill to go back to those times.
Youth is wasted on the young.
I know the feeling , what a time to feel so alive
It always amazes me that we have such an yearning for easier times. But most of the time we wished we knew back then what we know now! But I understand the sentiment! Just thought the irony of that was interesting.
No way this song is 17 freaking years old! This song never gets old, the way it builds and finally let's go gets me every time.
Jesus Christ. 17 years! The days are long but the years are short.
Scary how time just goes
Pretty sure its older
It's funny we're 😂 coming back at the same time I looked at that said God damn. lol we're getting older but I'm thankful we're the ones who made it so far.

Silversun Pickups are still the best impromptu concert I ever went to. Bought tickets last minute and went alone and had a blast. It was such a great time
I did the same thing- flip flopped for a month, before getting tickets an hour beforehand.
Heck of a lot of fun!
Saw them doing acoustic set in a very intimate venue absolutely amazing
Congratulations Silversun Pickups for "Lazy Eye" reaching 50 million views!

Bought the CD the same week it came out, I kept hearing seeing it on MTV in the mornings just before school. Miss those days of MTV

Is it me, or does his voice seem like it has no business coming out of his mouth?
Absolutely killer song.

i thought it was the girl in the band singing it all these years until i saw this just now...
He uses a androgynous voice by balancing out the air and octave to sound half Male half female simultaneously mixed together
You should check him out now, 13 years later doing the same song at the guitar center jam.. watching him sing now is even more nucking futs

Why do boomers and small children announce their age?
This song is the same as 1979 in that it evokes this altered reality and intense nostalgia that you can't quite pinpoint.
Oh the emotions.
Finally someone wth the same sentiment as mine. Back in college, i used to call it the 1979 of 2000's haha. Rock on fr. The Philippines. 🤘🏼🍻

Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine
Locked and loaded

Yup, me too. You can make new memories though.
God loves you and you can have a never ending good time with Him in heaven
Awww now I’m sad!! Alright enough of this sadness. I choose joy and I am tagging you. #TAGYOUREIT
is this the sequel to 1979 by the pumpkins
No, this is far better, and I suspect it will age better too.
I've been waiting for this moment.
PERFECT by SP is the sequel to 1979
@@LVE4GOD ah come on man. You must be born after 2000....1979 is a classic, always will be
I've never felt so understood. 1979 came out during high school for me. This song came out when I felt like I was an adult, but I really wasn't
The actress is phenomenal. The facial expressions and emotions feel so authentic. The two buds at the conclusion are cool, they see her, the guy's dream girl, and they slowly slip out to somewhere else, leaving them privacy. Isn't all this music and love so good? 😊
yere
Paul Dano as the bartender, LOL.
They have a pretty solid discographyu.
2:15 man this riff takes me back to a time when I was only a kid 😕
Oh to be young again. Oh wait, barely made it through that. Still, I’m 70 now and can still appreciate a song and video like this. Peace.
Cheers bro

I'm 71 y.o. and totally understand how you feel. This tune is a little masterpiece.
go and play music pops yes you are technically closer to 100 than people in their 20s but still have fun
Absolutely my friend ✌️❤
This song never gets old. Everytime it comes on, especially when im driving, it just puts me in the perfect mood
Man did this bring a tear to this old man's eye. Great tune, and I don't even dance. But I do move. Keep on dancing dude, or none of it is real.
A classic.
Hell yeah!
Its the guitaaar bro
It’s everything... phenomenal song
I was 18 😢🙂
Facts brother. I was 14 in 06 too
The world didn't change, our perception did. We grew up and out and learned more about the world. No shame in that. Make the future we all deserve.
@@sigmasquadleader Yup.. sometimes knowledge is a curse and too much especially when we know what's going on today. It's crazy..
one of my favorite songs of all time!
I have searched for this songs for years now.
I couldn’t remember the lyrics, couldn’t remember the band name.
Like magic it popped up on my recommendations. 😭 so many memories.
Algorithms, man. Algorithms everywhere.
Glad you found it. It's a great tune from a great band.
I always thought this was Smashing Pumpkins. I’m surprised to find out it’s wasn’t
I love when stuff like that happens! Nice.
exact same thing for me! I could remember the guitar riff and the first line but everytime I searched "I've been waiting for this moment all my life lyrics" into Google I couldn't find it. It's such a satisfying feeling when you finally find that song youve had it your head forever but couldn't recall the name of.
LYRICS-
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for this moment all my life
But it's not quite right
And this 'real'
It's impossible if possible
At whose blind word
So clear but so unheard
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for this silence all night long
It's just a matter of time
To appear sad
With the same old decent lazy eye
Fixed to rest on you
Aim free but so untrue
Everyone's so intimately rearranged
Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine
Everyone's so intimately prearranged
Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine
Locked and loaded
Still the same old decent lazy eyes
Fixed through your gaze
That's why I said I relate
I said we really
Need to fight to relate
It's the room the sun and the sky
The room the sun and the sky
I've been waiting
I've been waiting for this moment
😘💜
Thank you.
❤
Thanks bro.
Always heard that is "That's why I said I relate, I said it's really fun to relate." That changes this a little bit lol.
47 now. So many good memories from that time of my life
As for someone with a lazy eye. Thanks for nailing this tune.❤

@COSMOKRAMER751 - thanks for the lyrics, I'm now gonna sing my head off
It's so beautiful 😢💕
Pretty sure it's "lost" and loaded, but it's alright.
Thank you
Never is too late to discover a great song and an awesome band, isn't it?
Enjoy. These guys are so choice.

It never is, i just found out about it. Great alternative song it is indeed
I know - I think I just discovered it about a year ago!
The sudden burst of energy from the lead-up all the way on to the word “Such shine” being spot on from Brian Aubert makes me smile without a doubt!!!
Yup HWood was Blasting with clubs and music and I was running them Ambient Vertigo Century Monte Cristiano still Little Cave Follow Joey Radical still holding it down after 2o years dying. My opinion the first.
Such shine is the correct lyrics

I’m 44 and remember the first time I heard it, it took tictok to bring me back and I was like I remember this fabulous song ❤
I've been waiting apparently 13 years to hear this masterpiece
I know! Everyone's commenting about the nostalgia they feel. I can't wait to feel the same, I get the feeling that this song's going to stick with me for a long time. Sometimes you wish you'd met that person earlier, sometimes they come along at just the right time, you know?
Me too. I discovered them with their most recent release 'It Doesn't Matter' - another masterpiece!
You should try listening to Kissing Families by them!
Welcome and checkout more of their discography! They jam live too if you get a chance.
Me too. I'm from Spain and I think this band had never came here.
As somebody in 2020 in their 50's. I discovered this song from Rock Band. That game gave me so many new types of music I could enjoy despite it not generally being made for folks my age. This song rocks.
Nice man. Yeah you guys had a lot more rock music. Its unfortunate that we just don’t have the number and prevalence in rock anymore.
Im also in my 50's I generally always have a look and listen to any bands I haven't heard off before when I'm on TH-cam. I've came across some cracking bands with some fantastic songs. Just like this one I suppose
i got it from guitar hero :D
this is 'secret' late-genX music
I was in my highschool senior year. It came out in 2006. Good memories. Theres rarely good music nowadays.
Well, that decade went whistling by
It sure did
Omg yeah it did
Sad...I miss my 20's.the music..the feelings.
because there's no transitions in music since 2000...
I remember hearing this on radio after going to a local music venue and seeing some bands. It was this shit and Starlight by Muse.
Grooving to this still after all these years. Vancouver Island Canada here.

I’m getting older and this song only keeps getting better😂
love the retro sound of eclectic music. for me it was the early 90's with sonic youth. listened to a radio station in So. Cal 88.7 K.S.P.C Claremont College radio, had everything from Ska/Rocksteady, British Punk and Oi, along with Electronica themes..even had a Industrial shift.. yeah underground stuff. shgit, going on 50 this year where did the time go????
I agree completely. They're a band that will live forever.
There's definitely a deeper connection to music the older I get

God, I love this song. His and her vocals blend so perfectly together, androgynously brilliant.
Very well put !! I LOVE THEM SOOOO MUCH !!
That's funny!
I bought this album when it came out. Still in my collection.
Heard this song countless times.
This is the first time I've seen the video and until today, I never even knew there were male vocals on this track. 🤪
Still rocks tho
Didn't know the singer was a man until i saw the video
I didn't know the lead singer of goodbye horses Q Lazzarus was a woman until about a year ago when I was 38 years old. I felt both lied to and somewhat violated. However in my defense, in 1988 when Goodbye Horses came out originally I would not have been able to choose my own music and then when Buffalo Bill made it popular again every video I saw of the song was with him.
lol what its just a guy
I was 20 when I heard this little diddy, I knew it was special then, and boy it holds up. Pikul is still my favorite
This is one of those rare songs that you just never get tired of. Feelings of youth, nostalgia and vulnerability all wrapped up in one. Live on.
To be honest the riffs are what make this song so great.... beautiful
Agreed....but to me the lyrics are like an ephemeral dream that you wake from and try desperately to remember the details of but can't, leaving only a vague impression. But the impression is profound and stays with you all day.
The interlude/outro on the full track is just brilliant.
I love that the drummer is hella into it. It makes me want to jam
Drummers are usually the most upbeat in bands. Pun intended.
This song delivers that "I'm 20 years old and going out with friends is the only thing that matters to me" feel.
Im in that phase rn lmao
@@alexbeastav Savor it. It goes fast.
@@weldone3829 yessir I will
Yep. I have been trying to figure out how to get back there.
You did good man
@@PainKiller0247 Thank you brother.

I lost the one also. Thought at the time she was it, but she slowly left
Wow 17 years ago I was in love with this song and now in 2024 it has that new love effect. Much love thanks for this great song
Glad to see that people still coming back to listen to this classic.
I’m convinced homeboy wrote this in 1996 and just sat on it for 10 years
He'd been waiting
It seems like it should be harder cuz the drummer is really killing it in the video.
I was convinced it was a 90's song but I was wrong
It's got a strong shoegaze element to it that makes it seem like something that may have come out during the heyday of 90's shoegazing. Reckon these guys listened to a lot of My Bloody Valentine prior to making this album.
very similar to the Smashing Pumpkins... love both the bands

Either get your carbon dated correctly or get the f*CK back to your side w/The Gin Blossoms like a properly apathetic Zero🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1981& after is Millennial.
Im gen z and kind of grew up listening to this song. Its a timeless song for all generation to enjoy:)
:/
This song is awesome, my wife and i would jam this out on Rockband a few tears back. I loved it and memories we will share forever. !
Thanks for sharing with us!

its like, it makes me feel nostalgic for something I never experienced but someone else did, like a shared memory from a sea of memories that I cant recall but I know they're there.

One of the greatest music videos of all time for me!! :)
February 2022 and this song is still just as amazing as when I first heard it over a decade ago.
Incredible video, direction, and song. I am a 53 year old guy and I appreciates the innocence and youth in this video. It has a 70's vibe but is yet modern in its presentation, very profound. Kids being kids. Ahhh to be young again . . . .
Same age, same feeling👍
Had a homie that loved this band. We never got the chance to see them together, but I know he's still listening with me.
Every time it ends, I just have to start it over again.
Nostalgia caught me by surprise. Awsome song but it almost feels sad.
I could listen to this song every day of my life.
I do
It blows me away to see this song getting the love it deserves, I use to wake up as early as I could to watch MTV before school so I could listen and watch music videos and 14 years later this song still sticks in my music library.
it is awesome that more people are finally discovering the band, and this song...they have so many good songs... 🥰
Song takes me back to college, had it playing while pre gaming before some party/bar. Such a mood
2006 was 2 minutes ago. I always loved the drummer's Battles-style crash. Reach for the apex!
Probably one of the most underrated guitar performances.
By far! I don’t know many people who have heard this song but I remember getting ready for school during middle school and seeing it for the first time on MTV. Loved it ever since. The whole song is underrated in my opinion

I've seen them in concert twice the freaking rock!! One of my all time favorites!!
It's actually "The room, the sun, and the sky".
It’s got the vibe of a bunch of 90s kids giving their youth a goodbye call. Timeless.
I love how when she goes outside to the dude his buddies just walk away without saying a word. Bro code, my dudes. Bro code.
Well said. There was a code and a process.
Yeah right. More like music video director told them so. My friends would stay there and keep taunting me lol
