My father has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t remember much of anything but he remembers the lyrics of this song and sings them every time it’s played. I always tear up when I hear the finale of the song. Love you dad
I know the feeling. My grandpa has it and barely knows who I am but knows the lyrics of just about every song ever wrote.
:')
Then keep playing music he'll sing to.
It will make him happy.

I put this here in hope that after days, weeks, even year - whenever someone likes it I will be reminded of this song.

Come listen again my friend 🤗
I don’t always listen to this song, but when I do my neighbors do too.

2024, who’S here? I wish you all a beautiful and blessed year. ❤
This song alone is reason enough to buy decent headphones. The experience is...cathartic...
Not to mention Mercy, Reapers, Sunburn, well... any of their songs, tbh
So true
It has more bass than most EDM tracks haha
Luis Irastorza Valera
Luis Irastorza Valera Muse in general is reason enough to buy decent headphones.
I might be alone in my belief that the 2nd Law was a criminally underrated album, and this song is one of Muse's finest.
That's precisely why I like it so much! It's not all that cohesive but there's so much going on musically that it's hard to hate it.
Daniel Plainview It's different from anything they've done before. People always have something to complain. I liked it too, it's different but still very much Muse.
Daniel Plainview I love this song to death. The "I need your love" part is transcendent. Getting chills just thinking about it. I think the 2nd Law is a great album. It's just different, that's all.
Valkyrie Missile Yeah the way the music builds up and culminates in that last bridge is ethereal
***** They're my favorite band, actually :-), so yes
4:09 The high note at the end of this song was fantastic. It was a wonderful vocal that almost made me cry.
I hope you are well my child ❤️
One of my favourite songs of all time. The build-up, the drum clicks, the synth, and the guitar, perfectly synching with Matt's unique voice. When he screams "I need your love", chills travel up and down my spine. What an epic song. ❤
I love Muse but just discovered this one, it's a masterpiece, i keep listenting to it from a day now

I think it's I need TO love, which makes it even more impressive, to me.
Your
Epic is such an overused word, but I think it applies here. Such a great song.

Same, every time
Same 😵😍❤️ I don't care if many Muse fans hate this song...
The final 2 minutes of the song are probably the most bone-chilling minutes I’ve ever had in any song.
All the song is precious!
My favorite part...
Agreed! It sends chills down my spine every time. I can only think of this song and maybe a couple others that do that for me.
I want chills every time I listen to a song.
Oh same but listen to Karma Police by Radiohead and I promise it will make this #2
Muse is iconic. Millennial or not this band does music justice. Beautiful. Raw. Honest. This song is timeless. All these years later you still hit the soul. 👏 👏 👏
Facts. Gen x appreciator, here
Agreed. Quite possibly the most iconic modern band.
Also an Xer 🫡
"Millennial or not" - This hurt. Feeling offended
I'd go see them
For me, it's the 20 second guitar solo at 3:07 that is short but infinitely perfect. Makes my brain happy and produces that buzzy serotonin/chills throughout the body effect. The layering and build is without fault; this song I never get tired of listening to.
Absolutely same 😊❤
I often think that the guitar solo was inspired by Queen's Bryan May
@@rosemaryselden8976 i think this song as a whole had heavy Queen influence

Listen to their live version that was played in rome. Even more awesome on that part.
Muse is definitely one of my top 5 concert experiences.
For me too
I used to HATE this song when it came out and you have no idea how much I worship this song nowadays. The whole instrumental is a trip
I found it when I 11 yo
Same!!
I never hated this song, but I’m happy you have opened your ears to this beautiful song.
There's an excellent reason why Muse is so popular and respected, it's because they cannot be easily classified into just a genre of music, they are a versatile band whose music can attract nearly all kinds of audience.
Not only they experiment with different sounds (check the difference between Hysteria and this song!) their music is also ensured quality. They experiment, but they do it right.
+Roldie lies!!!! they would be classified as an industrial pop band
+samhartman12 ^absolutely not.
+Roldie IS AN oGM between Queen and Depeche Mode
+Roldie Generally they are in the alternative/Progressive genre. They're popular because they're good! Even by older standards when music was still art.
+Roldie The most amazing Muse moment i saw in a music video is when at the end of one of their songs transformed into a Piano virtuose and played a masterpiece from Chopin. Just amazing.
I love how Muse tends to release songs that are hated by their fanbase and 10 years later they become classics.
Ya
I bought this album as soon as it was released. I love them, their insight, their music ❤🦘🐨
It’s kind of reminiscent of Queen in that the competition at the time had more listeners and later people wonder how they missed it at the time. When I first heard, like two years ago, I thought it was a U2 song. Now I’ve heard it numerous times and hear lots of bands but I seriously could see Queen doing this song it’s that good
Who could possibly hate this song? I lack the vocabulary to articulate exactly how good it is!
Yup, hated this album, thought it was naff, now years later it has some of my favourite tunes on it. I think that OOS, absolution and drones were the only albums i instantly loved
Still enjoying in May 2024
Never stop. Muse for life 😤
Sometimes when I feel really low I listen to this song as it is my favourite song performed by them. I close eyes in bed at night and then at 4:09 onwards, I get this massive rush of goosebumps. I just fully relax, let the song takeover and I feel like I'm floating.
Me too!!!
doing the same atm
The entire song is a climax, the peak at 4:10 gives the chills: it's as if he never had the courage to say it. It's like he uses all his sincerity and strength to say it: «I need your love».
Yea.. 4:10 is the breaking point. MAKE SURE YOU LISTEN/FOLLOW 'TIL THEN EVEN IF U DONT LIKE THE SONG/MUSIC. Hearts crush (open?), eyes tear heavily, and you think/know this is greatest song ever.... WRITTEN FOR YOU!
Another good religious experience is the flaming lips song “do you realize”
*I need to love

Madness is a perfect song. The way the bass syncopates with the dark, 90's industrial keyboards and his ethereal, ghostly voice at the songs climax is absolutely spine tingling.
Hummingbird Magik yesssss !!!

Sa fait plaisir de voir un(e) français(e) qui poste un commentaire sous une vidéo de Muse ! :)
I wouldn't say perfect but it's a great song. There's something satisfying about the main electronic riff. A more perfect song for me would be Knights of Cydonia.
you could say it's..... maddening
This song is still as relevant and goes just as hard now in 2023 as it used to when it was released in 2012. It gives me the same chills today as it did the first time I heard it. It's an amazing piece of music. That bass... And the way they build up the sound... I have no words to describe the feeling. It's flawless.
This song hits me in the solar plexus. When Matt, projects his vocals to sing " I need to love", WOW, it's gets to me every single time!

I, I can't get these memories out of my mind,
And some kind of madness has started to evolve.
(Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma...)
And I, I tried so hard to let you go,
But some kind of madness is swallowing me whole, yeah
(Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma...)
I have finally seen the light,
And I have finally realized
What you mean.
Ooh oh oh
And now I need to know is this real love,
Or is it just madness keeping us afloat?
(Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma...)
And when I look back at all the crazy fights we had,
Like some kind of madness was taking control, yeah
(Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma...)
And now I have finally seen the light,
And I have finally realized
What you need.
Mmmm...
(Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma...)
But now I have finally seen the end (finally seen the end)
And I'm not expecting you to care (expecting you to care)
But I have finally seen the light (finally seen the light)
I have finally realized (realized)

I just love the escalation of this song. It starts at a very low pace and it's amazing how it gradually, patiently rises until 4:10, when you simply stop doing whatever you're doing just because you get too overwhelmed. Headphones are mandatory for this song.

The kind of song you listen to when you have had a few drinks and miss someone so much. And when that part "I need to love" comes, it hits you hard and you are so tempted to pick up the damn phone and make that forbidden drunk dial.
+Yutella Drunk dialing produces unwanted drunk dates that produces drunk babies. No one wants unwanted drunk babies. Unless you're a drunk douche bag. and then you deserve to be a drunk baby daddy.
oldsarge101 Hahaha what... I don't think that far. Drunk dial often produces conversation that your sober self will never say though.

I’ve seen them live 3 times and I will always love to see them over and over again. I got goosebumps writing this, thinking about each amazing time I had seeing them live.
This is such a beautiful and sorta sad song. So much emotion in Matt Bellamy's voice. I love when he says" I have finally seen the light." I also like when he sings "I've tried so hard to let you go-o" Also I love the stuttering of the word "madness" and the dubstep/EDM influences in it. Besides that the melody and tune of the song is absolutely beautiful. Really shows how Muse has changed lyrically and musically. I love the guitar solo and the guitar he uses. I'm also getting strong Queen influences. Probably one of my favorite Muse songs to date.
TheVarietyBros you and i would be great friends dude
That message is INCREDIBLY TOUCHING - awesome.
I broke up in 2013, When this song came out. This song helped me a great deal to cope with the pain. It still hits different.
After the disputes that I read here, I must also share my opinion:
When I look at the work as a whole and the statements of "Muse", then I say that every album from "Muse" typically "Muse" is because Matthew Bellamy likes to experiment with the music and really tries (in comparison to other bands / musicians) to create with each song / album something new. Even though the album "The 2nd Law" is fundamentally different than the previous albums and contains "atypical" sounds, it is still typical "Muse" because it shows the joy of experimentation. In "The 2nd Law" you can notice it clearer than ever.
Conclusion: Despite the very different sounding sound compared to the previous albums, it is a typical "Muse" album because of the still existing passion for experimentation.
Truth to this. The talking heads were way into "experimental" before anyone started making it a problem. It takes away from the beats and puts you into the mind of the creators, something more to appreciate.
But some things will come out like shit, regardless.
