I've Listened to the song Bridge Over Troubled Water, performed by Elvis Presley so many Times, I can't count and I Still can't get Enough of It 👍👍 May 22 /2024
Quote from a famous (in Brazil) and deceased singer: "Elvis Presley's voice is the only one I can listen to, repeatedly, every day, without getting tired"!!!
.Paul Simon said, “When I first heard Elvis perform ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, it was unbelievable. I thought to myself, ‘How the hell can I compete with that?'”
And that's the way it's done. God created the world in 7 days. On the 8th day, he created Elvis. This man is not a result of mere genetics, God did this.
To me, this song is about the only friend we have who will never let us down - Jesus Christ. He is the bridge , the helping hand, someone always standing near when we are down and feel so small. Last Friday evening I was travelling by car. I felt lonely, lost, small. I have problems with my teenage daughter and worry about her a lot. I didn't know what to play in the car and my hand fished out among other cd discs Elvis Inspirational. I listened to it many times but Last Friday was different. I listened to Like a Bridge Over Water and I started crying. I cried and drove and finally understood what the words mean. After listening to it I felt warmth in my heart and said: Thank you ,Jesus. Thank you for this song, for Elvis, for strength it gave me.Yeah, you are the only true friend.
That is exactly how I think of it all when I hear Elvis' Heavenly voice...and I'm guessing that may be how Elvis too thought of as he sang it❣🙌🏼🙏🏼.. Elvis was so very spiritual and soulful..💙🙌🏼✝️🎤🎶⚡
*Fun fact: when Elvis Presley came to my hometown on tour, my grandmother was young then and rushed the stage. Security caught her, and instead of kicking her out, Elvis Presley signed an autograph for her and was super nice. She still has the signed picture decades later. Thank you, Roy Orbison, for being nice to my crazy fan girl grandma.*
In 1959 , Elvis rode in to a small Restaurant on a Harley with 2 more riders . In a small town Odonville, Alabama. My dad and mom , me and my Sister were eating. I was only 8 , but my mom and dad knew exactly who he was .He paid for our dinner and talk with my dad as if just a normal thing . Never forgot that. He was a very sweet caring man .
No vocal training, no real instrument training, no auto tune or ear piece, he picked out his musicians & backup singers, he never wrote songs yet arranged them, never had highly paid arrangers for his shows, He was the show, one man, one voice there to make his audience happy and provide a brief escape from their troubles. RIP!
@@itze_ I'm a musician and I study music at the Conservatory of my town. Jacob has nothing to do with Elvis, I was curious and just tonight I've listened to the Jacob Collier studio version even the live version. Collier uses so many modern technologies that help a lot to do a show and he disguises the original song "Bridge over troubled water". There's no the same feeling, strength, emotions and shades of the Elvis version, even the choirs of Elvis are more genuine. As I was listening to the beginning of the studio version I thought that Jacob was trying to imitate Michael Jackson.
No 75 dancers prancing around. No confetti cannons. No lasers. No banks of several hundred lights. No flesh showing other than any decent person would show, Nothing needed to beat the sheer majesty of Elvis at the top of his game.
The most perfect voice in the Universe. Who can ever sound like that, except Elvis. Paul Simon said..."How can l ever beat that..there is no comparison
...and is able to recognize that this is sung by a man who laid himself down like a bridge over troubled water for so many people that surrounded him, and people he met and who were in need. Elvis needed such a bridge but the bridges were always too short and not wide enough to ease his mind and pain for a longer period of time. So he helped himself, as well and as often as he could, by being that bridge for others.
I can still remember being in a kid going for long drives with my mom and dad. My dad always put in the Elvis gospel tape cassette on those drives. I would sit in the back seat of that ford escort and just be amazed. I hope his legacy lives on and on.

We often drive a wedge when we are sharing the Gospel. She said timing is everything. He is not prideful and boastful. Jumping the gun and laying on scripture out of season (heavy handed, pressure laced altar call) could snap that person off like a twig. She said if you approach a person with the old "one hit wonder" deal (instant change) you better be willing to share the cost. There must be follow through. If there isn't any functionality for development/companionship DO NOT bring His Name into it. She said if you can't deliver, shut your mouth or you'll be responsible for the outcome of your poor stewardship. ------So many things she taught me. Very logical. Down to earth. REAL. I wish she was still alive. She sang "Bridge" while rocking me as a baby. I remember.
That warmed my heart. My Mother was a DEVOUT follower of Jesus Christ. She taught me to reach people through the back door. And that sometimes you don't preach the Word and even mention Him when a person is REALLY in bad shape. She said He demands you focus on the priority, which is the Soul. The brokenness.
I'm going through cancer at the moment and if I don't make it I will have this song at my funeral...what a voice...I've never heard this song sung so amazing

"You have just witnessed the finest entertainer to ever grace the earth." - Woah hold your horses, that is YOUR subjective meaning. I completely disagree with this statement. "You should have noticed by now that the voice is crystal clear" - Actually this is NOT crystal clear, at least not in my ears. Too much vibrato if I might add. If there is something that's *crystal* clear it's the horns and the piano playing.
That is so very true I am 54 years old and I have not seen or heard of no one doing WHAT ELVIS PRESLEY at all R.I.P HIS MOM & DAD AND THE REST OF THE PRESLEY FAMILY

Who the hell are the 1022 people who didn't like this??? If you are not moved by this fantastic rendition of this song by Elvis, then you are dead in your heart. If you don't like him, don't visit here. This is a place for fans with huge warm hearts that welcome such enjoyment and emotional feeling. So please go elsewhere. Because we all LOVE it !!!
So well said! We are Elvis fans looking to enjoy the music that he left behind...and he will always be in our hearts! I just came back from Elvis week 2016, the very first time I ever saw Graceland and I was so moved when I was there! I could feel Elvis' love all around and it was so beautiful, especially the meditation garden....I even love Elvis more now, not sure if that is possible....I did leave a piece of my heart behind at Graceland, until I can visit next time
"I saw him perform it in Vegas. I felt it was a bit dramatic but then again the song itself is dramatic. I heard it and at the end wondered how the hell am I supposed to compete with that!?" - Paul Simon
THIS is the Better live performance version. the Elvis on TOUR in 72 does not top this performance. When Elvis hits ... sail on silver girl - just chills
QUEL VOIX CHARISME IL EST ET RESTERA À JAMAIS THE KING 👑 ...TOUJOURS PAS DE REMPLAÇANT ..QUI POURRAIT D'AILLEURS ???PERSONNE !!!MOI J'EN CONNAIS PAS ...THE BEST
When I get upset about life I watch Elvis sing and remember that he was such a wonderful man and I try hard to keep a good heart because that's what I loved about him the most his beautiful heart❤I still cry because I miss him so dearly
I am Chinese born and a fan from 1958 to now...close to 60 years. During this time many great entertainers have appeared. Beatles, Stones, BGees, Roy Orbison,Michael Jackson and others. I especially loved Abba. But truly I believe none can come close to Elvis. He was just special and even the other greats must agree as many of them have done publicly. There will not be another one like him and for sure not in my life time. He is America's greatest gift to the world.
Persona Email: As I stated in my initial comment, a Professor of music attributed Elvis' extraordinary vocals to where his vocal registers were placed. We know vocal register placement is determined during 9 month pregnancy. If one believes (and I do), in divinity, then God chose to give Elvis those vocals for a divine purpose and we will never know that exact, specific divine purpose.
Right oh my brother i've been down and out from the day he died 16 August 1977 to present day. You can say i'm in denial and can't cope with it, in a way the same P.T.S.D. like my P.T.S.D. from my 10 years in the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE.
Elvis had the smoothest most powerful voice of all time. He was a gift to us from God. Elvis could sing the phone book and it would sound great. If he was to sing a menu people would want to eat. Long live the music and magic of the GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME. We love you Elvis.
No words...just goosebumps😘. Thank's Elvis for all the fantastic music you gave us and still are. Tnx to TH-cam, the Elvis movie etc a young generation has the chanche to listen why this man is still called The 👑...Thank you Elvis ❤ R.I.P. Would be great to meet somewhere and have a free Elvis live concert when ever I feel like (around at least once a week😊😘)
+Janice Lyons -- I agree. This version is superior to the version found on the album, "That's The Way It Is". He seems to have more control of his voice in this clip. BTW, can anyone tell me where this clip came from? Also, was this live performance ever put to vinyl? Thanks.
God almighty. His voice was just beyond anything that anyone else can produce. He can be delicate, warm and then blow the back wall down. A gorgeous arrangement, too. Perfect.
My dear friend that's not exactly so if you've got his movies you'll always see Elvis, and you've got his music you'll always hear that voice which is both awesome!
Who still listen this song in 2024?

Elvis could to tell the story!
Well, he I think doubted he could do it like it needed to be done from square one, that's why he let Art sing it

He can't
No autotune, no effects. Just his magic.
Yup...Autotune came out in the 90s
And 99% of artists use it or some type of back tracking. One of the few is Willie Nelson that does not use anything.
Mutch better than the original !
Wrong. Reverb is an effect, unless you think Elvis made his own reverb from his lungs.

"I saw him perform it in Vegas. I felt it was a bit dramatic but then again the song itself is dramatic. I heard it and at the end wondered how the hell am I supposed to compete with that!?" - Paul Simon
56 years old and still get cold chills hearing this song.
I know how you feel. It's the same for me.
very true
I’m 73 and have chills also 😍
THIS is the Better live performance version. the Elvis on TOUR in 72 does not top this performance. When Elvis hits ... sail on silver girl - just chills

When I get upset about life I watch Elvis sing and remember that he was such a wonderful man and I try hard to keep a good heart because that's what I loved about him the most his beautiful heart❤I still cry because I miss him so dearly
There isn't and there never was and there will never be another one like ELVIS 🌹
No one. compares to this man.
He is America's greatest gift to the world.
so perfectly said!! elvis belonged not only to AMERICA but the whole WORLD!!!
You are absolutely right !!
MrWmy881 amen!✝️☺️
My God! They didn't comprehend they had just witnessed the most beautiful rendition of this gorgeous song.
You're absolutely right...this version is THE most beautiful rendition of a truly amazing song.
The most beautiful rendition of any song ever
I wish he had told Parker to get stuffed, left vegas and started his own Gospel show on Sunday. He would have exploded the airwaves
@@richardpluim4426 You'd be surprised :)

I'am in my bed. I'am a man and nowcant stop crying because of his magnificent voice.
Right oh my brother i've been down and out from the day he died 16 August 1977 to present day. You can say i'm in denial and can't cope with it, in a way the same P.T.S.D. like my P.T.S.D. from my 10 years in the UNITED STATES AIR FORCE.
tcbcan I'm w ya brother in a hospital bed. Nobody does it like Elvis
+David Hodgins Well said, Elvis was and always will be a one off, the greatest entertainer this world will ever see.
+David Hodgins A gift from God for certain!
Not from god. His parents made him.

He had the most beautiful voice of all time. He was just a natural and no one today can even touch his range or beauty.
Best performer ever without sound manupilation . PURE
What a voice. Perfection beyond perfection
Agreed...just 'beauty' in it's pure essence of the word ✨
This one.... gives me chills!!! Just listen to his angelic voice... Wow!!
oh,yes!
+Janice Lyons -- I agree. This version is superior to the version found on the album, "That's The Way It Is". He seems to have more control of his voice in this clip. BTW, can anyone tell me where this clip came from? Also, was this live performance ever put to vinyl? Thanks.
Alan G. He sang it at most of his live shows. Yes, it was on a 45 & on the flip side is If I Can Dream. Hope that helps you!! Thanks Alan!!
+Alan G. It was at the International hotel in Las Vegas.
+Janice Lyons Yes, so moving and so beautiful. This is my most favorite one of his performances. Love him so much!!
The Best, the greatest was and always be Angels voice, tears are falling down
Who can ever beat that voice???. Nobody can ever sing like Elvis! The Absolute Best Ever!!!
Elvis just takes a song and makes it his own. What a tremendous talent.
Hello. Good day. How are you doing? Hope you are fine and staying safe out there?
God's greatest miracle was that he gave us Elvis.
We can listen to all singers Elvis was different class a legend
He sang this song perfectly that's why he's the GOAT!!
God almighty. His voice was just beyond anything that anyone else can produce. He can be delicate, warm and then blow the back wall down. A gorgeous arrangement, too. Perfect.
I agree 💙
The king forever xx
Blow the back wall down! 100% THIS
Yep
The Gezza was unreal
Blow the back of my wall down. Now that says it all my God your response made me stop and say your right..
