- An idea I've had bubbling away for a fair while now, as an unusual way of celebrating 4472 'Flying Scotsman' and his 100th anniversary.

I managed to get a hornby j15 from Hornby directly a few years ago. I had a slight discount but spent less than £80. Incredible model and now I feel lucky

sorry to nitpick but locos are normally referred to as female as are ships, rolling stock and planes e.c.t
Flying Scotsman is presented in a accurate representation. It hasn’t been in the configuration for LNER apple green since nationalisation and Scotsman was rebuilt to A3 class from A1. If Scotsman was ever to be restored to A1 apple green accurately large parts would need to be replaced and downgraded to A1.

How, may I ask, is the A5/9N “overrated tat”?
Until Sonic models made a 9N for 00 scale, I’d never heard of the class. Despite being popular with crews and good at the suburban jobs they had, they don’t get credited much.

The New Zealand Railways 'G' class, of which only three were built. For a variety of reasons, they were a complete failure, and their engine units were reused in the construction of six new 4-6-2 'Pacifics'.
My favourite version of 4472 is also her in A3 build in LNER Apple Green

What about the Thompson L1 2-6-4 tanks (essentially a LNER V1/3 with an extra pair of wheels)
I completely forgot to mention the L1, despite having a Hornby model of LNER 9003 on my shelf.

Scotsman should only have smoke deflectors and a double chimney in BR livery not LNER.
I'm guessing you were against Taw Valley being painted Purple or even Black
Oh so it’s British rail eh… we’re the heck are the bad diesels… and I do like the LNER paint with smoke deflectors.
FS might actually work with deflectors and double chimney, if they gave her Peppercorn style deflectors like "Humorist" received in 1947.
